  1. Didn’t realize I had gotten approved with the Grand Inquisitor so…😅 DS-20009 requesting TFE access! https://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=33152
  2. I don’t remember exactly how I scaled mine, but kinda have to compromise a bit. My helmet is just wide enough that I can fit my head (with mask) through. I didn’t even try to get it to fit into the neck armor, instead my helmet pretty much rests on top of my neck armor, I don’t even have any padding in my helmet since the neck holds it in place. I made sure the visor aligned with my eyes, which as you said made the chin a bit short as you can see in the pictures. I don’t wear the helmet with my costume too often, so it doesn’t really bother me. I’d rather have a little bit of the chin sticking out than have the whole thing look like a bobblehead. hope this helps!
  3. It’s kinda unclear how it’s supposed to be, I think according to the current CRL it’s supposed to be short black boots with armor Greaves, the CRL will eventually be updated to instead use knee-high riding boots with a little flared ring around the ankle of the boots, made either from leather or plastic.
  4. I ended up making my boot-rings from some 2mm craft foam and wrapping that in black faux leather. Having a 3d printed part didn’t really look right to me. I might have a 3d model that I did laying around somewhere, not sure if it could work or even looks right though. I also might have a template for the foam ring that I made, but I’m not sure.
  5. Looking good! makes me very happy to see more G. Inquisitors popping up! If you want a Grand Inquisitor belt buckle, I modeled one for my belt, I’ve been meaning to put it up on thingiverse but never got around to it. Though I must admit, the metal Tie buckle looks really nice and shiny! I’ll also throw in my two cents regarding the lightsaber. I made mine from the thingiverse files you linked, I modified the files to house a small 3x AAA battery pack and a simple 3V LED module I got from Etsy. Planning to switch to a tri-Cree LED and 18650 battery eventually. It works pretty good other than it being pretty fragile and a bit clunky, I also omitted to adding sound, animation, motion sensors and all that, since I didn’t really think it would be heard very well at a crowded con-floor. The file I used is made up of a lot of pieces, making it able to switch from half ring to full ring. I did have a similar idea to yours of using a simple base saber and housing it in a 3d printed hilt with the rings, but I never got that far. maybe someday I’ll model my own saber… keep up the Jedi hunt and the good work! /Malte
  6. Hello! I’ve got a finished Grand Inquisitor costume so I’ll be happy to help with what I can! I do wanna give you a heads up that the Inquisitor CRL will be updated sometime in the near future. I’ve been working with updating it myself and the changes has been approved recently. It’s not any big changes really just adding “boot rings” to the boots instead of the armor greaves, as well as adding a level 2 requirement for the lenses having some red in them, not just yellow. Wanted to let you know about this now, so you don’t finish the costume and the CRL suddenly changes and you need to redo stuff. You can read about these changes in the CRL development/update section on this forum. now on to your questions: soft parts: I ended up making my own soft parts. Im in no way a professional in sewing, but some stretch jersey fabric and a cheap singer machine did the trick! But as mentioned there is Amion costumes who has made a inquisitor set before, Though I don’t know what the quality and accuracy is like personally. There is also many costume makers you probably could commission soft parts from if you wanna go that route, as far as I know there’s no one who makes a set that you can just buy straight up. Gloves: I went with leather gloves since I couldn’t find any rubber gloves in grey that didn’t have a bunch of grip textures and logos. I currently use a pair of military style grey leather gloves, I think they’re called mil-tec or something like that. They have a pretty simple design, but they are padded since they’re winter gloves, so in my opinion they’re a little bulky (and warm) for the inquisitor, so I’m probably going to switch gloves eventually. Mask: I use a silicone mask made by WulWhiteWorkshop on Etsy. It is definitely durable and I feel I can see very well out of it. You can move your mouth in it, but you won’t get that perfect mouth movement like in a 500-1000 dollar silicone mask, but I think you definitely get your money’s worth since this mask is only around $200. I’m personally considering making a prosthetic makeup for this character instead, to get some more realistic movements, but I haven’t fully figured that out yet. also I can totally recommend the armor files by JMS props! It’s what I used and I think it looks great. I can also recommend splitting the neck armor from the chest and down the middle and then use magnets to quickly get it on and off. if you have any questions, send me a message anytime! Always happy to talk inquisitor! I do believe I have pictures of my costume on my build Thread on here, if you wanna see examples of the armor, gloves, etc. if you wanna see the movement of the mask, I believe I have a video of it on my Instagram @moldwarped. Sorry for the giant wall of text! //Malte/BH/CC-20009
  7. I completely forgot I created this thread, so here’s some updates since last time. costume is mostly done except for some small details. I also now have a functional lightsaber as well as some yellow and red contact lenses. I did end up remaking the soft parts in a softer and stretchier fabric which I like a LOT more than the old one. I’ve also printed and finished his helmet recently, printed with files from JMS Props and sporting a nice red acrylic visor.
  8. requesting 501st access. (note i'm in the newly formed Swedish garrison, but it's listed as nordic garrison here, since i can't pick it for my profile yet.) https://www.501st.com/members/displaymember.php?userID=33152&costumeID=164
  9. Cool! I’ll do that when the time comes.
  10. Forgot about this thread for a while! since school started I haven’t had much time to work on this costume, but I did get most of the armor finished and was able to do a suit up before summer ended. I’m not wearing them here, but I’ve made version 1 of the boot rings discussed in the other Grand inquisitor boots thread. As it seems right now, there needs to be some updates made to the CRL. Where does that process begin? Who should I talk to? My costume isn’t finished yet, but I’d like to have an idea of where to turn when it is.
  11. Never mind the shirt question. Probably gonna be redoing the soft part with a different fabric.
  12. Ring is now black! Did some test fitting with the boots on. It sits a bit low right now, I’ll be fixing that.
  13. Also, will there be new crl pictures needed? It would need to be updated at least right?
  14. Here is my boot ring prototype! 3d printed on my cr-10.
  15. Been working a bit on a "boot ring". I'll return with some pictures soon.
  16. Hello! been working on a Grand Inquisitor costume for quite a while now. I recently finished sanding the 3d printed armor. Today i did the first fitting with the armor on with the soft parts. I realized that my shirt was sitting a bit loose on me, making it bunch up in the back. I would like to take in the shirt, but since the material doesn't have any stretch, I wouldn't be able to get the shirt on. The only solution that came to mind, was to add a zipper at the side seam of the shirt, but i would imagine that that wouldn't be acceptable. I would love to hear some suggestions about this. Note: everything doesn't sit right on this pic and im aware of that. still a WIP. I also know it isn't the best picture. You can find more of the stuff i do on my instagram: @moldwarped
  17. I totally agree with everything said on here. I remember being confused about the color of the sleeves when starting my build, but i then realized from looking at refrences from the show and saw that they where the same color as the stripes on the pants as you said.
  18. That's amazing! though i wouldn't dare to hold that thing, seems really scary! but i guess that's the point of it.
  19. Great! It seems that we are all on the same page about this. However the question about the "cuff" or "ring" still remains. What is it made of? judging from the picture i posted before, it looks to me that the cuff matches the hard armor rather than the leather. Also from a practical standpoint it would seem to me that it would work better to make it out of a hard material, since that (at least in my mind) would hold its shape better than leather or faux leather would. But i could be wrong.
  20. Interesting. But if the cuff is a seperate piece, can we then be sure of that what he is wearing is actually greaves/boot armor and not just tall boots with a seperate ring or cuff around it? I also found this picture in the refrence gallery (it's also on the star wars website.) the picture is a color guide which seems to show that the "greaves" are actually made of leather, same as the boots. As previously mentioned you can also see in this picture that the "greaves" looks the same as the boots and also different than the rest of the armor.
  21. Hi! Working on and off with a G.I costume and the parts that really confuses me are the boots and greaves. The crl states that the boots should be "knee-high" or for level 2 be "English riding (dress) boots or Equestrian boots". The problem i have with this is that i can't imagine being able to put on greaves with those kind of boots. Also the boots pictured in the crl pictures looks more like ankle boots to me. does anyone on here have any input or any clear pictures of what the boots should look like?
