  1. If you can shorten/bring the black bands holding the waist rings inside more that would be a good upgrade to have, I would even hide the rivet if you can manage to easily.

Don't forget. When you submit. Each piece of the costume must be photographed in high detail on plain background with good lighting. This is because if done properly the costume will end up being used as example for the CRL.
  3. When are you gonna app for 501st? I was wondering how long it would take you to see this.
  4. Grats on being 1/3 your previous size, that's wicked cool if that's what you want to do, clearly something is working! Anovos has a run of TK armor minus boots and gloves for 350 without boots and blaster. But that's not eligible for this detachment.

By definition, Asajj and Savage Oppress are not EU any longer and are in fact Canon as well. It is something that Thomas and I are in discussion about and will likely also be discussing with others as well. We're a unique organization and our definition may need to change to exactly represent what we are, we may also need to discuss the stand up of another unit or reorganization. The possibilities are many and when we get into a deeper conversation we'll figure it out. FISD has already claimed the First Order Troopers, so we'll see what happens. By definition a TK Commander is EU and is in FISD, but Magma Troopers and other Special Ops are not. We're a lot of contradictions. Highly off topic now, but that's the 'short run down'.

Detachment acceptance is actually post-approval. Though from talks I've heard, he's not truly a Sith and the SLD isn't planning on taking him. Unless another unit is stood up to take the costume it seems we're discussing it in the right place. That's a mostly command-level decision going on, and I'll be sure to update as I hear more. Awesome work so far Dawn. I'm torn between this and some new shiny white armor myself.
  7. The discussion will also get more serious once there is actually a costume and a case to present to the LMO. We'll just have to see how things progress. There is a valid concern when it comes to legal issues obviously, but we also have a precedent with a number of costumes still stating "Required" I've dug it up here, as any good discussion does need some proper citations: http://www.501st.com/databank/Weapons_policy Volund you're very right, and I've definitely had the cops called on me for showing up to a troop thanks to the balaclavas we all wear. On the flip side, we were able to carry our blasters on a military base at an Air Show, so... yeah. We may have detained a few real-life officers for fun. Once the political situation settles down I'll be happy to bring up the Optional/Required discussion as it relates to our current costumes. I suspect something needs to be done about it.
  8. I suspect we can or still do require it for membership, whether or not it is allowed at a local event is separate. I'd have to double check that though.
  9. My observation has always been regarding whether or not the character is or isn't commonly seen unarmed. In the case of most video games, the unarmed character somehow magically makes the item vanish, until combat happens. Without doing a lot more research at the moment(I'm out the door in a minute) I'd say that if he is always seen armed, that the character should be armed. Availability really shouldn't affect requirement, as we are crafters and costumers after all. We make things work.
  10. I would not go in assuming the lightsaber to be optional. CRLs are split down the line on required vs. optional. I suggest planning for needing it, rather than assuming it isn't needed. And as it is clearly a focal point for the character, I'd err on the side of needing it.
  11. Excellent, and welcome! You probably know the drill already but if you have any questions, by all means speak up.
  12. Lurk no more Brother! Nice to meet you Kerry, we've recently tightened some of the membership protocols for the forum to parallel the Legion requirement of logging into our forum once per year to be considered an Active member, some status' may get changed accidentally but we're glad to have you with us. If you need any help feel free to post in a thread or send a PM. Hello Wishsinger, you're in the right place. Between your local GML in Star Garrison and the assistance you find on these boards, you should be trooping in no time. Welcome! You're in the right place, Brother, we have great costumers in both sections there, we look forward to helping both you and your Wife with anything you need. Welcome Tamar, if you're referring to http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TuskenRaiderFemale that actually falls under the Krayt Clan who handles all Tuskens except Darth Krayt (how that happened I have no idea). However if there is any way we may be of assistance here, particularly with crafting techniques, feel free to ask. Info and likely a 6 month wait, inbound. Welcome back Brother. Welcome 92503, you're free to hang out in the mean time and ask any questions. If you need any further assistance with your approval, or hit any snags, by all means speak up and we'll be happy to help.
  13. What is your status on applying to get this approved? I'd be happy to help walk you through the process, despite any coloration issues I believe you're quite likely to get a thumbs up.
  14. Re: Kotor Sith: Their robes are very specific though, and most importantly: No one has to this date created said costume or submitted it for approval. If someone made said robes, then submitted it, the matter could then be reviewed by the LMO for approval. Ewok's question is indeed true. In order for a costume to be eligible for review, we must have source material displaying all sides of a costume. Video games usually make this easier to achieve.
  15. Most armor parties I know of don't actually get a lot of armor work done, but that is not a bad thing. You may still get some good answers if you ask the right questions.
  16. Certainly not something we can really approve because the armor is KOTOR and the face is SWTOR, but I did it for fun and because wearing a mask at a major con with 60k people is really going to lead to a boot to the face. This was really fun to do, and the number of people that got the reference was amazingly high. I really enjoyed the look. Also, I had to talk over a few things with the Webmaster, it took some delicate negotiations:
  17. Looks like you covered your bases Matthieu. Naturally I suggest you also contact your local folks in SoCal and get to know them, you'll see a lot more of them than you will us, but we're certainly here to help. I can relate to that feeling: I've been in talks with my wife about building a droid and at least one more costume since Celebration.
  18. I'm quite certain I saw you and I'm quite certain I just assumed you were one of us(Flagship-side). Thanks for posting pics, hopefully your approval goes through swiftly. If you need anything, give a shout.
  19. Hey Anna! Great to see you on the forums! I was so excited to see your costume at the Cantina Tour. Welcome to the boards and as always, feel free to ask if you have any questions. Welcome Benjamin, we have some great costumers in the Revan boards who know every inch of the costume, feel free to post there and I am sure you'll get some great responses. A belated welcome to you Rico, I'll also guide you to the Revan boards, feel free to post a WIP thread once you've got pictures to share!
  20. Sorry for the late reply, welcome and feel free to post in the related topic any WIP photos/progress you have.
  21. We're always happy to review things and look for better ways to pipe up about costumes. Feel free to post your sources, images and discussions in the Starkiller section and we'll have a look.
  22. It's not just a great hobby, we're a whole community of awesome people, and if you want to look great while bringing smiles to the faces of kids and kids at heart, you're in the right place. Feel free to get a WIP post of your own going on the Revan boards and I'm sure our crew of experts will be happy to help you along the way. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
