  1. oh I'm soo sorry I'm tad late here, I just went to a pattern shop and looked for a dress that looked alot like it, then went from there, I do have a couple of photos on my build thread here.
  2. Hello Maria, as per C.Skiles check out the forum for DT, start a build thread and we will help as much as we can. First look at what you need easy to come by first Boots skivy Wig glove Then go onto the harder and research. With my pattern I just found a pattern at my local shop that looked alot like the one I needed to make. Find a good leather outlet. the Internet is great ...good luck and we will be keeping an eye out for you.
  3. thats a really good Question ...... unsure of the name but it is a heavy fabric so it falls nicely and a cotton mix ...
  4. The CRL I beg to differ, is a requirement, if you don't meet those standards your costume will not be approved. I wasn't taking about the scout in my previous post but shall use it as another example, my scout was approved 2 years ago if I belt my daughters (to which I'm doing now) to the same spicks as mine hers will be knocked back. So they are not just a guidelines they are a requirement. My son's is now what the current CRL has placed. In saying that I have no ill towards any of it, I just go with the flow and upgrade to match my kids, I'm like everyone else and go bugger, but it's cool easy fixed. So you may find quite a few scouts not matching each other, is that a bad thing? Or is it just awesome when you see a lot together and wouldn't notice a thing. Same goes with this two lettering idea. when your in a parade or trooping a child's birthday will the lettering change how you act or your appearance ? I'm only bringing up the point changes are constant habit of late ATM how you/501st handle them will be the issue. I'm involved with two other CRL that changed in two different detachments and in future who would say they may change again, new products new techniques are always presenting them selves . We must never forget the troopers our members. This lettering idea will not please everyone what ever changes you make must please everyone, as per the CRL the older troopers never needed to be concerned as they where still approved the new recuit's just had to go with it.....get my drift? Btw I'm not arguing its so hard to show emotion, I'm just chatting. To old to argue my life is too short in more ways than one .....
  5. Thomas you have opened a door to another issue. An example: A member joined 5 years ago... hand made their armor to the spicks available at the time in the 501st they trooped every year made 501st proud raised money for charity , then in their detachment more interest in that person's costume, a CRL with photo's was placed up, their Armor isn't up to the standards of the CRL.....What do you do? do you kick them out? do you tell them they cannot troop? We all strive for excellence but does that mean we start to be a dictatorship, not caring for our members? We are talking about letters here people just letters, if one person is passionate to keep there past letters may I ask why not? your going to be hard pressed to find a solution the % will take the prize but of course not everyone will be happy, why can we not make that happen ....members are important. I'm from Australia so Grandfathering effect I have no idea what that is. I just suggested the letters. as per old members then New. btw the example is not me. The CRL I explained has happened.
  6. I can see Where Damien is coming from ....on paper it is a good idea but it maybe a little late. May I suggest this option: example when some CRL's where overhauled previous members had the option of staying as per the original approval or upgraded to match the new recruits, members that are under SL atm are still SL but can have the option to be a DS, Only New Members approved will be DS ....so the older members will be classed under SL/DS. Similar to a married and maiden name. When the DS or other initials receive positive feed back, you may find others will fall into place. Pointing out the CRL's the Pathfinders upgraded their requirements for CRL, mine was before the upgrade my son was after, I added to match those around me even thou I didn't have to, this may also be with TKID. Just a thought
  7. Thank you Damian, explaining the issue At this stage the changers do not effect my Character in this Detachment, I'm requesting for those that are effected have a vote. Or If you are looking at 3 more detachments before placing a work load onto those members (which we are very grateful) ask those detachments members of their views. I belong to quite a few detachments and haven't heard or seen a thread regarding this issue. I read previously in this thread the mentioning of members with personal cards and tattoos and just two letters can change their persona. I appreciate the thought of Changers may result in future characters from films to be made (TV shows) giving them a more outlined prefix this would widen the family tree as so to speak. sadly we didn't use the force to for see this before members started using their given TKID's
  8. Thomas you are a gem, I'm a late comer into reading this thread (just read it quickly)and was quite taken back, all of this hassle could of been avoided if those (or one person)looking at redesigning the system, used an email and all concerned should of had a vote. I'm not one for a person to start accepting changes because one persons idea has come to fruition when hundreds of members are concerned. We where never asked or hinted for any of the detachments to be tinkered with. I belong to at least 3 of those. A change is to be a good thing......from what I'm reading here it is not. These sort of changers make people leave and ones become less interested in the costume. Thomas you are not to blame, people here have real life's and to add we troop then add to that read lines and lines of threads. Your the DL you should of got a personal message regarding your detachment. I commend you spending your precious time having read, chase up, when it could of been avoided. Thank you Thomas.

  13. Hello Maria and welcome, what I did is look through a pattern book at my local frabic shop to something that is very simular to the robe she wears, and made adjustments as I went. I also did a dummy gown first which helped alot.
  14. Hello Ulises and welcome
  15. Hi ya David.......we can be sith's together lol....let me know when ya coming

    Who i am.

Hello Vonic, Good luck wth your Darth Adraas.
  18. Hello Amidala, thank you for replying, Since making the post I have finished my Darth Traya with the wonderful help from Kitiara. And she was approved this week. This weekend was my first troop..I do have a few things twiks I need to fix up ..hood was driving me nuts, kept falling off.
  19. Here is a photo of my Belt, I fellowed the advise off Kitiara, with the squares the hubby cut out two aluminium ones then he dremelled the lines, I then placed some black paint over the top to give the effect. The Head piece is all leather, I stayed clear of Velcro, it didn't play nice with my wig, so I hand sewn studs around the back. I found some very pale foundation used pink under eyes and since I'm an 80's child had plenty of grey eye shadow.
  20. Here is my robe in black....I have also included the belt in the photo but I haven't placed the silver knobs. I doubled the hood so there is no seams. It took me a couple of goes for the gathering on the shoulders....I had redone the ones on the blue fabric robe. Still going. ...A big thank you to Kitiara
  21. Hi ya starbuck.... My fabric looks very similar, rayon looks like the fabric they had in mind while creating the character looking at the way it sits and folds in the game. Going thicker than thinner would be the go, this to be a robe not a summer dress ...lol If you have started would love to see pictures Btw love the name
  22. Greetings. I've just started a muck up on the robes the gathering on the shoulders was driving me nuts. I already have: Boots Glove um I think thats it . so here is my progress photo....just working with cheap fabric till I work out how to do it.
  23. Thank you ...yep it's me, I'm working on a Darth Traya.....and I'm the one asking heaps of questions. I do make my own balaclavas but I love the stretchy one. I will look into the top, it's a good price. You said you got a size up. Would the correct size fit you. I have found there is so many differ from sizing.
