  1. Hi Good to see that you´re still working on the costume. Regarding the gloves, no I wouldn´t buy those - They are just ugly... sorry to say that... I would go after something more like this : http://www.ebay.com/itm/171054688953 The boots will work fine - any black plain boots without straps and visible zipper
  2. Hi and welcome Looking forward to follow your WIP
  3. Indeed - go for the middle one
  4. Hi and welcome For gloves, you´ll need this style - and this is just an exampel : http://www.ebay.com/itm/171054688953 And for the boots, you can use any plain black boots, that doesn´t have any visible straps, buckles, or laces. Good luck with your build and do put a WIP up in here, it´s much easier for you to show your progress and to ask for advice and for us to help out. Cheers
  5. Hi sorry for having missed this one I wouldn´t use any of those fabrics on your picture - I used a heavy jersey fabric, others use raw silk to get the right flow in the fabric. You need to remember, that this costume is made out of several layers, and you need something that is breathable but yet looks right - try and take a look at the other WIP threads in here and see, how others looks like.
  6. Hi and welcome The best advice that I can give you, is to look at the WIP threads in here, start your own thread and go from there. I´m actually selling my Darth Traya : http://www.theflagshipeclipse.com/forums/index.php?/topic/2187-fs-darth-traya-costume/
  7. You can use photobucket or dropbox and then put a link up in here instead, sorry for not writing that before. Your sleeves looks a bit big, they could be more form fitted - but I don´t think, that it will be a problem. I don´t like the knot in front, it´s placed to high and is twisted to much, a more elegant and simple knot, that are placed a bit lower will work better and give your hood/cape some more volume. With the leather belt, some shorten in the front of the outer skirt and the knot redone - I would say, you´re good to go
  8. Hi From a first look, it looks okay - but it´s hard to say, with only 1 picture from the front. Like Tiedoll wrote, your skirt got twisted - that can be fixed easily. If you could take more pics from all 4 sides, it would be easier to give you some advice
  9. Your welcome Yes, those should work, if you paint them black.
  10. That sounds strange - you can´t make the weathering black on black fabric - you need to take this to the LGML and get our DL Thomas on this.
  11. Hi and welcome to the forum Nice choice on costume - looking forward to seeing your progress. I´ll bet you´re going to be very good with the sewing machine, when you´re finished, because you´ll get a lot of practise sewing all the layers - have fun and do ask, if you need some help/advice
  12. Very nice - are you going to paint the shoulders on the inside too ?
  13. Hi and welcome to the board. I´ve actually just put my Traya up for sale... a bit sad about it. But that´s just life... http://www.theflagshipeclipse.com/forums/index.php?/topic/2187-fs-darth-traya-costume/ As to your questions: You can use almost any dress pattern for a straight down one and give the front and back some more cm to it, so you can create the folds. As to wigs - your link doesn´t work - but any silver one I guess. I found one on the net, just remember that with both the wimple, wig and headpiece, the wig shall not be to thick due to the heat. The saber looks fine - though not all correct, but since we don´t need to get it approved with the costume, you should be fine. As to the head bands, yes it is correct that they shall change in size from the top to the buttom. For the belt I´ve got velcro, since the closure needs to be "hidden" in the back. I found it was the best way, I got mine custom made. I´m looking forward to seeing your progress
  14. Wow you´re fast - soon we have an army.... awesome !
  15. I have a pair of Jack boots size 45 (EU) for sale, if you´re interested. Got them, when I bought my Tie armor and they are way to big for me.
  16. Hi I´m not familar with this costume, since, as you also pointed out, she is one of the good ones As to your questions - leather is sometimes easier to work with, when we´re talking about larger things like tabbards and straps. Perhaps we can get others to chime in on this ?? I did find this cosplayer : http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/costume/view/85686
  17. you´re doing such a great job on this and I´m looking forward to seeing it all put together/finished
  18. Very nice - I really like your progress, only thing that caught my eye, are the "sleeves" on the outer skirt. Could you shorten them a bit say halfway, so they doesn´t stand out so much ?
  19. It´s hard to see the details on the pics - they are very small, even when I click on them. What fixes did your GML say, that you needed to make ? Your obi is way to wide - it needs to been around 10 cm only.
  20. I would say the ones from the ebay seller - those are the ones most of us use
  21. Much better gloves - they look a bit big on you, but hopefully, when you get the costume, it will not be so visible.
  22. Hi Welcome to the forum - your second link doesn´t work. It´s hard to see, how it looks, when there is no picture of you wearing it - but the overall feeling I get is, that it could be ready for approval.
  23. Thanks - but I´ve just made a new golden pattern for my sleeves and veil, since the old one, made of golden fabric, wasn´t looking so good anymore. This time I use golden iron-on vinyl - it´s a very long and hard job to cut it out, but it looks much better next time I might take you up on the offer
  24. You´ve done a super job so far - so keep going Love the golden pattern - very nicely done.
  25. Hi and welcome I´m sorry to say it, but the gloves looks wrong, they do not reach high enough up on your arm and are not gauntleted the right way - as to the CRL : The black leather gloves are gauntleted with a shaft reaching halfway up the forearm. There is no flare on the gauntlet. The gloves must be free of straps, buckles, snaps, or extra decorations. Here is a link for the photo from the CRL : http://databank.501st.com/databank/File:SL_nihilus_cotf_gloves.jpeg - like on the pic from WA, you can see, how high the gloves go. I really like your saber and looking forward to see your costume finished. Edit : I found a link for a pair, that are more correct and actually the ones, I think, that most of us use... : http://www.ebay.com/itm/MENS-BLACK-MEDIEVAL-RENAISSANCE-GAUNTLET-GLOVES-MADE-IN-USA-/171054688953
