  1. Sharad Hett was a goody two shoes Jedi, I don't see where he would fit into our world, but also welcome the debate.
  2. Well that is a good side by side comparison to talk about. Keep in mind, I find the vest the hardest part of this costume to get correct, and I made 5 or 6 versions of the vest myself, till I got the look down to the correct look. Compare the size of the top strip. In the middle it starts off double the width of the 2nd strip. Then it quickly reduces in size as it goes down the body, and becomes rather skinny. The front peak is very high, and the sides are quite low. So there is a great and dramatic change in the size of the vest as it goes down the body. Having everything stay the same proportions as it goes down the body will not achieve the correct look.
  3. Just remember, it's not a race! lol I am one to talk though, as I have powered through every costume I have made in about 3-4 months each. I would rather it take longer, look right, and get approved the 1st time its submitted. It is looking like you have it under control, just hang in there, looks like you are almost at the finish line!
  4. What is the suit made out of? it is very shiny. Maybe it will look more accurate with the shoulder armor added to it, and a Balaclava. Vest could be sitting a bit higher up. keep at it.
  5. Lol, someone asked the question before about using the game as a reference. I would only do this in extreme cases, where you could not find reference anywhere else for a part of the costume, as the resolution and details are poor.
  6. Star Wars galaxy of Heroes game has a new character, it is being call "Sith Marauder" (2 red lightsabers) we know it better as Sith Acolyte. The character is not yet able to be unlocked, but for those of you who play the game and like this Character/Costume, it should be a up and coming in the near future.
  7. Looks like a good start. I also noticed you have a TK ID, but never requested 501st permissions in the forums, so I went ahead and upgraded your permissions for you. When you have a TFE Det costume finished and accepted, don't forget to request for another upgrade to your permissions to TFE Det Mem!
  8. Welcome (im in Germany) we have a section set up for that costume. If you check the for sale area, there is also someone offering kits for that costume.
  9. My bad, you are correct Ultra Sabers
  10. FYI the text I wrote for this CRL has finally been posted, have a look, tell me what you think. Some of the old stuff is still in there double, but it should disappear the next time it is refreshed on the server. Just for Clarity, the optional item for the head, is in place of the helmet, not while wearing the helmet. My work was edited, and I think the part explaining that this was intended to be trooping without the helmet got edited out. When the Sith Stalker CRL text gets posted, it will also have this without helm optional option. Most people find these two helmets the best part of the costume, so I don't see many taking this option, but it's out there. My Lightsaber is a saberforge Revan, it's quite bulky, but i'm a big guy so not an issue. If you were to compare it to a Vader's Vault saber just based on weight, I would say its the difference between carrying around a 2 liter bottle of Coke vs a TV remote, to give you some idea of how bulky it is. But it was the only affordable option on the market at the time, without making a no light and sound prop myself.
  11. The updated texted has been posted for this CRL today, take a look. The old skirt and pic is still in there and needs to be removed, so look at the Skirt with no pic for the new info. I will try to get pics taken of what pics are missing this weekend, but then they need to be worked on before they can be posted to accompany this CRL. Let me know what you think.
  12. The 501st Legion roster is now on lock down until after elections. No further additions to the detachment roster are possible until after the LCoGs have unlocked them after the Legion elections.
  13. I was happy with my stuff as well, till i saw yours lol
  14. The pic from my WIP is my Vest Version 1 or 2, not the best reference as I changed it since then, but you get the general idea. And your pics are working again. I will send you an email with pics of claws
  15. Im looking at that helm and looking at my helm right next to me, and I am noticing some small differences in the 2. Looks like he did a better job with the blending of the armor on yours as compared to mine, where the ridge is, on the side by the cheekbone. Yours look better than mine. Also the grill in the front is slightly different than mine, the bottom 2 on your grill is a lot thinner than mine and a bit wider than mine. The weathering on yours is also different than mine, must have made a new mold. Edit: Furthermore the cheek bone ridge on yours go to the outer fin, mine goes up near the visor. Well be happy as yours looks better than mine, he has made a better version of the helm in the last 2 years I guess.
  16. I have the boots in the CRL, as I could not manage better at the time I made my costume. I also have huge calves! I ordered these boot off of Amazon or some where similar, then took them to a shoe repair shop and had them add more leather to either side of the zipper, now they fit perfect, and they only charged me $25 for the work on the boots.
  17. Official Reference, before the CRL, is always the best advice I can give you. What is in the current CRL we can call Lvl 1 for minimum standards for acceptance. If you make your boots like those seen in the Reference pics, they would also be acceptable, call it lvl 2. If you make lvl 2 boots, please include reference pics to your GML, proving that yours are like the reference, and there by, better than the CRL in its current form. If your GML has any questions about this, I would be happy to talk to him or her about it, but in the end, It comes down to your GMLs decision is what counts. So I would have a discussion with your GML about this costume and your intentions before getting boots that the GML may not approve. You can also direct him to this post to see your pics and my comments, but in the end, it is still your GMLs decision. The text portion of the CRL for this costume, I have rewritten. 1 LMO has blessed off on my work, I am currently waiting on a 2nd LMO to bless off on my work or make Edits before I can post it. I will then be posting changes to this CRL Text. Then the Next portion will be getting better pics of each item to add to the CRL.
  18. Congrats on approval I would sure like to see all your pics (one of my favorite costumes), and yes I think people who are in the process of building this atm would also be interested in how yours turned out, and if they have questions, then they have someone new to turn to.
  19. I have tried a few different systems, and none of them have worked, there is just not enough space to mount the fans and for the air to move around, plus have my head in it at the same time. I have for the moment, given up on a fan system for the helmet, as hiding the fans some where else and then running aquarium hose under the Balaclava into the helmet was my only other idea, and that is just going to be a pain in the ass system. As an alternative to a fan system, to try to prevent fogging, I use the product "Cat Crap", anti fog gel product, works rather well, combined with mounting a rubber face mask in the face section of the Helmet, creating a damn between my nose and mouth and the visor to prevent the visor from fogging up every time I breath out. I can deal with the heat, so long as I can see, but over heating and being blind at the same time really takes the fun out of trooping lol.
  20. FYI: I did get to see you pics when they were 1st posted, but now they are not opening for me anymore.
  21. Well I am pretty sure that with Marco's Vest, his vest is made of Leather, imo it looks too thin, but to each his own. My Vest is made of strips of linoleum glued to 1 large sheet of P-leather, with the appropriate spacing between the strips of linoleum. I also have a strip of medal at the apex of my vest, that keeps the point curved inwards as it should be. I did not want to use Velcro to hold the vest to the shirt, as any time I would twist my body, all you would hear was the Velcro ripping apart, and it just became too damn annoying. lol Just to note: I am currently using the 6th version of my vest. V1.0 had the wrong cut on the out side edges, and didn't look correct. V2.0 had the correct outer edge cut but the vest was just too damn thick and heavy. V3.0, V4.0 had a plate closing system in the back that looked really good, would just not sit right and kept opening when when I would try to breath (holding my breath for 7 hours did not seem possible). V5.0 I switched to a metallic looking cord with plastic clips setup, but after awhile the cord was stretching out with my breathing, and then the vest was too loose and kept sliding down. V6.0 has elastic cord going to 6 or 7 plastic clips. The cord is in an intricate overlapping web pattern like in the visual references, as opposed to a simple boring inaccurate setup. I find this the best system setup as the elastic cord gives and take as I breath, the strength of the elastic cord is also sufficient to hold the vest against my body with out slipping down. I have no Velcro or straps keeping the Vest in place, so it gives freedom of movement between the shirt and the vest, with out having any visible straps taking away from the correct look. I think it is the best setup for me, you will have to see what works best for you. Just throwing this out there, to maybe saving you the hassle of making 6 different versions of your vest until you were happy with it, like I went through. lol Keep in mind, the front and back of the vest are "High" where as the sides of the vest are very "low" in comparison. I have seen some other versions on line where the sides are way to high, and it just doesn't look right. The back of the vest on its top edge should stop, where the triangle shaped back armor piece with the lights stops, they should match up rather close to each other. I have also seen some badly made setups where the back armor is the wrong shape and size and the back top edge of the vest is way too high up, and then you have the vest running up under the back armor, also not the correct look. Again not doubting your abilities to attention to detail, just trying to save you time and money in making your items correct the 1st time, which is the whole purposes of having Detachments after all. I got 0% help from anyone when I joined this detachment, was a very frustrating helpless situation where I struggled through learning by doing costing me more time and money than it should have. Why I now try to help others, so they don't have to go through what I went though and have a more pleasant experience with this Detachment and their build process. If you would like, I can take measurements from my armor/back armor, vest, claws, and anything else you want, to try and give you accurate information to work with, instead of struggling with eye ball measurements off of a picture vs your body? Let me know, and I can knock the measurements out in my lunch break or later tonight. Your vest looks to have the correct rough shape in the front. I cant see what the back closing area looks like, just remember it come back up to about the middle of your back, in the back. Hope this info helps you with your build, if I get around to it, maybe I will take some pics to post for you, but that will probably have to wait till the weekend.
  22. Once you get your helmet done, let me know where you put your fans and what setup you use. I have tried different systems, none have worked so far as its a very tight fit with only 1-2 cm in any area but then between the balaclava and the fan is no space for the fan to move or for the air to flow. Could be I just have a really big head too lol. The areas that seem bigger and able to mount a system, if you mount a system there, then you cant get your head in the helmet.
  23. There was another discussion about a year ago regarding the TI jacket look with the open jacket, this was also not accepted in the 501st. Even though he was dressed in the Imperial garb, this was a point when he was good and leaving the bad. This look was also not accepted by the RL as far as I know of, I have not heard anything new on that topic in quite some time. I am guessing the RL just didn't want a costume in their ranks wearing Imperial garb, which makes sense to me. It was not accepted in our ranks, because he was on the good side of the fence with this look. So as far as I am aware of, this look is not accepted by either group, just FYI, in case your were interested in this look as well.
  24. Any version of Starkiller acceptable in the RL is NOT acceptable in the 501st. It comes down to when he was "Good" or "Bad", we only take the "Bad". lol
  25. Look here: http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FlagshipEclipse_CRL Everything listed as Starkiller is acceptable here in the 501st. 8 to choose from. Hope this helps.
