  1. true on color and sheen, that wasn't an issue he brought up - just depth and length of cutouts. Like I said, I think extending them to 1/4" from the edge would be a big change for the better.
  2. Well he apologizes and says he's out of town right now which is why he didn't give too much detail, but he'll do so when he gets back. So, hopefully that will be before you get back as well lol I think he and I are both staring at the Vader one and expecting it to be identical, from this picture the longest one should reach a lot closer to those edges: Short of looking at the game model itself in an independent form, There's not much better of a way to look at the chest box. But, honestly, I have no idea how people do that.
  3. Kk, The LMO just posted a list of changes to make. There are a few I'm arguing or asking for details on, but I can give you the ones we agree on - 1. the rivets on the gauntlets were supposed to be round from your own writeup and pictures, but they turned out a bit hexagonal, so that has to be fixed. 2. The cutouts on the buckle still need to be longer. I would say the longest one comes to about 1/4" from either edge Beyond that I'm questioning a few others (ones I'm arguing are marked with an *)- Rough armor - not sure what he means by rough, he brought up that it looked like a prototype *Shiny armor - argued that it's supposed to be glossy Low hanging chest box - simple fix in pictures Lacking detail on chest box - asking what details he thinks are missing Forearm armor should close - asking if he's looking for a smooth closure or if an overlap is acceptable (ala TK armor) *Thickness of belt buckle - argued that your latest pics show it being thin enough.
  4. lol you mean Mr. Thomas Spanos? Aka, The Clone Emperor? He's currently our Detachment Leader and as I recall FE founder. I'm curious but slightly concerned lol
  5. Pretty much, yeah lol As far as I know, once there's an approved costume, CRL standards come back to us at FE. For instance I helped write the ones for the starkiller promo costume, so I would assume you and others (maybe me, likely Thomas, we'll see) will establish the CRL for it.
  6. I don't have a picture handy to double check against (posting from phone) but from memory, it looks great! Keep up the wonderful work!
  7. Just saw that your GML posted it on the submission forum, best of luck!
  8. I like the new coloring - very nice change. I think the circle on the buckle looks fine and the whole thing should be raised, but I think the lines need to be longer to match better. I did see the picture, and it does look correct on the mannequin. I think if I saw the shawl looking correct on you instead of looking right on the mannequin, I would feel better about it. I appreciate the problem with your 'photographer' - my father takes my pics and has the same issue Yes, as long as your GML knows about the build thread, usually they'll post it with the submission. When you do submit though, just to be sure, drop me a PM and I'll make sure he/she attaches the link. @Jeff, yeah, I know, I've really been slipping in my Mentor-ship duties. But hopefully having subscribed to the Starkiller forum via emails I can stop making that mistake
  9. I liked this one, but I thought it was too obscure to follow through with (despite getting half way done with it...) Here's some of the references I pulled from the game: Nearest I could tell, he's got on black boots with the rebel snow scout spat over the top. (a friend of mine from the RL has an awesome tutorial pdf here. the tunic has a strange overlap, going very low to the sides to a point. (take note of which flap is above the other above the waist, and then see what I mean when you look below the waist) the arm restraint looks like some sort of hose clamp but I could never find a match for it that satisfied me.
  10. Look forward to seeing some progress, and best of luck
  11. Definitely looks better! Sorry I didn't get back to you. I just figured out how to subscribe to email notifications to the Starkiller forum, so hopefully I won't miss anyone from here on out Congrats on the approval!
  12. I am REALLY sorry that this build thread has been up for over a month and I haven't chimed in once. Letting my own projects get in the way too much I guess Don't forget that as the first one in the legion (that I know of) you're going to get the harshest criticism from the board of GML's and LMO(s). Don't get discouraged, as you've certainly got the skills to see this through to the end From what I understand, the official ruling now is that Vader buckles have to have the 5 cutouts in the arrow pattern that you're seeing here, so if you were hesitant to cut it up because of keeping it pristine for the Vader costume, feel free to go at it with a dremel. As for the paint job on the armor, it couldn't hurt to try a deep grey on the raised areas - it looks like 2-toned forced shading, much like Vader is. The one single nitpick I have myself is the shoulder shawl under the shoulder armor. In comparison to where the rest of the costume sits on you, I think it needs to be raised between 1"-2". Since you have detailing so close to the edge, you might want to try bringing it up from the top.
  13. I think your tunic top needs more weathering, e.g. the sleeve opposite the gauntlet is supposed to cut off at the elbow, and we still need to see your finished shoulder armor, (don't forget your haircut and makeup before pictures) but it looks excellent to me so far. Keep up the wonderful work and I look forward to seeing it done! (For weathering reference refer to the CRL: http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming ... e_training )
  14. I've only got one change before I would approve it - I like the depth of the armor pieces - i.e. the thickness of them, but they're a little flat. It looks like you used foam, so really you just need to take a heat gun to it all and curve them to be more close fitting. (this goes for the chest and shoulder bells - the collar piece looks great)
  15. I love it! I would approve it, but it depends on what the LMO says since it's EU. However as the Costume Mentor for Starkiller costumes I can put in a good word for you.
  16. See, well, I learned something lol. Good, I was always iffy on the 3 source rule anyway.
  17. In order to get a costume approved, there needs to be 3 distinct references, with enough detail to show every angle of the costume, leaving nothing up for debate about how it should look. This costume must be a "dark side", "villain", or "neutral" character representation. Since he's seen in his 4 appearances as a sith lord, I think it fits that category. BUT. I'm not positive, but I think the 3 references have to be from 3 different comic series from the last I read - so the reason I didn't post on it before was in hopes that someone more knowledgeable would get to it first. Apparently not, so I do apologize. I think the decision really comes down to the level of detail in the reference pictures you provide to your GML, because as a new character it goes pretty much up to every GML and the 2(?) LMOs for collective "nit-picking". And believe me, when you introduce a new character there is a LOT of "nit-picking". So, the TL:DR version is 'can it be approved?' sure, IF you're ready to do some work to make it the best it can be.
  18. Welcome Aboard! I look forward to seeing your progress!
  19. Sorry, I've been horrible about checking the forums as much as I should. As the Costume Mentor for everything Starkiller and as a GML for the newly formed Garrison 66, I should have weighed in much earlier, and I apologize. I don't see any reason why this shouldn't be accepted. The costume is seen on the alternate dark side ending as a dark side character, much the same way as the Sith Stalker was in the first game. By my math it should be something able to be approved. With that said, that doesn't mean you don't still have to do the work - as Koda said, find all of the reference pictures you can so there can be nothing up for dispute over how the costume SHOULD look. Being the first to make a costume that is new to the Legion is not an easy task, but in my opinion it is well worth it. Good luck and if you have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM or email if I don't write back quickly.
  20. As long as it looks right I don't see a problem with the idea. It might actually help keep the pieces in place. If you do give it a shot, I look forward to seeing your results!
  21. "Note: I know the belt is still missing, the boots don't have a proper cover and the chest armor plates could use some formfitting. Although I'm on it, it's still a WIP." Sounds like you already know what you need to do. Beyond that the only suggestion I have left for you is to replace your skirt - it should partially cover the 2 grey tabbards hanging from the front of the belt and yours doesn't even meet them.
  22. pretty sure he was just looking for stalkers guys lol if I'm wrong though, I'm a promo starkiller, and a final duel hero through the RL.
