The fabric paint on the sleeves is done.......

Do you guys think that the red is a little too bright?

I could darken it down a touch with some light weathering.

A box of goodies from the states arrived today.....

armour1.jpg

The first 'modification' to the TOR Jedi armour

armour2.jpg

Chest trimmed and shaped to the Sith Acolyte format

armour3.jpg

Handplates cut and shaped

armour4.jpg

One forearm put together. There are a lot of awkward angles ( so gonna have to 'sludge' the gaps ).

The cod is going to be a b*ch in the abdomen area. Are you planning to bondo the shin greaves together or trim them so they are more fitted? I was thinking of trimming the greaves to fit better and making elastic straps. The armor in the trailers looks like it has gaps and isn't like a stormtrooper seamless look.

Second modification to the armour, the 'claws' on the handplates.

I made them out of laminated kydex and used a strong CA adhesive to attach them.

armour6.jpg

Did a test run of the painted forearm and handplate with the robes ( and a temporary glove - the accurate ones are more bulky ).

Also today another box of goodies arrived from the states. My modular sabre hilt and blade 8) .

It's a quality kit and it'll be a real shame to take the dremmel to it to make the required modifications.

This is the hilt in it's unmodified state.

More to come........

Hi!! I´ve followed this thread with interest, as I want to do a Sith costume for 501 approval. Searching on the web, I´ve found this armour. The arms have to be closed, but would be it acceptable, or it has to be modified?

Made a start on modifying the saber hilt this afternoon.

Taped up the long section of the hilt and marked out evenly spaced lines along it.

saber2.jpg

These were then ( carefully ) cut in with a dremmel rotary tool ( pleased I've got a steady hand ). I then added black paint into the 'grooves' ( this is wet sanded off once dry ).

saber3.jpg

Repeated the same process for the lines 'around' the thicker part of the hilt. Also gave the whole hilt a rub down with 1500 grit wet+dry paper to give it a more accurate less shiney apearance. Finally I cut and added the emmitter sheath.

saber4.jpg

Still more to come ( where to locate the switch so that it's the least obvious and the red fake button near the emmiter ).

Update on the armour.

Arms are both done ( one has the start of the details painted ), handplates have the 'Sith claws' added, chest first coat of paint and the saber is coming along ( see earlier post ).

The new smaller mask is on it's way and should be here next week :D

Now time for a couple of test shots.

More later.......

Looking good mate, going to have to get off my butt and do some more on mine.

You could make the red fake button near the emmiter the blade holder may be, not sure if the blade goes down that far.

Would you be able to put up a parts list for the saber? It looks spot on to what we see in the vids, well done.

Last few bit's on the Acolyte saber are done.

saber5.jpg

I think the emmitter shroud, 'fake' red button and the weathered look work quite well.

saber6.jpg

Oh and er............its now fully rigged out with a Rebel Star Deep Red luxeon LED, 2Watt bass speaker and a Novasound 3.0 ( Dark ) soundboard

saber7.jpg

It looks a little pink-ish on the pic, but its a lovely lusious deep red colour in the flesh.

My new ( smaller ) mask arrived today. It's much more proportionate to my height.

This is it compared to the origional one.

I'll try and post a pic of the mask with some armour parts and the robe later.

Here's a comparison picture of a partial armour-up with the origional mask ( on the right ) and the new smaller one ( on the left ). Much better look.

Vader arms - I'm veering towards the dark gray route I think. I'd be interested to see what everyone else thinks too ( we've gotta get these bad-boys looking uniform ).
