I have no clue where to start with this. I'm not sure what kind of fabric I should be getting for the underdress. Linen seems lile the most logical choice but I'm not totally sure.

Which version are you going for ?  

Regarding the fabric for the inner dress and veil, I went with a polyesterblend that has some weight to it, so both the veil and dress/sleeves would drape nicely.

I can't really recommend linen for the inner dress, it creases a lot! I've used a faux crepe de chine for my dress and veil and they drape beautifully.
