  1. No one has yet completed a Basic Legion Level Imperial Knight; 1. Full body suit A. Black Quilted leather/leather-like top with eight panel torso and high neck B. Black Quilted or Plain leather/leather-like trousers 2. Black eight panel leather/leather-like skirt 3 . Gloves 4. Three layer leather/leather-like brown belt and Imperial issue buckle, 5. Proper boots--A chocolate brown version of Obi Wan's Episode II boots 6. Rich Brown cape Armour; 7. Unique L/R Red hand plates 8. Unique L/R Red Bracers and molded red straps 9. Unique Red Loin plate 10. Unique Red Abdomen plate 11. Unique Red Chest plate 12. Unique Red Back plate 13. Unique Red cape cap plate 14. Unique Red L/R under bells 15. Unique Red L/R over bells Accessories 16. Unique hilt lightsabre and white blade 17. Brown leather/leather-like belt pouches Besides matching the references created by Jan Duurseama, I'd also look for the armour to fit the wearer. The abdomen plate should cover the abodomen, not sit on top of the belly button. The breast plate should not rest above the wearer's chest, but rather be aligned with it. I have a file of all the Imperial Knight costumers that I have found in the past 2 years. Some are close, but most try to hide missing parts with a cape or hood. Or they are flat and do not follow the sculpted form of the armour referenced. Or the fit is fairly off. I am for requiring a completed, accurate suit for membership. Be well, Thomas
  2. Seeing your Cody and deployed MEPD status, I am going to challenge you to create the canon leg armour for Mara. Rather than glorifying the costume Decipher outfitted model Shannon McRandle with the title "real life", I see it as "good enough" for its intended licensed use and budget; a 2" x 1.5" panel on a collectible trading card. Including Pam's, I have seen four separate builds for this armour, all very well done. Maybe the hockey skin guards will do for now, but an accurate reconstruction would laudable; Anna's canon-matching boot amour. Be well, Thomas
  3. Greetings, I recently came across footage of a spontaneous interview from New York Comic Con 2009that I'd like to share; (Click on the video still to view) This is one of the rare instances that I do not cringe at the sound of my own voice. While I personally feel my suit is presentable, I still require a great deal of work before I would call Version 1 complete. I hope to attend to the next upgrade to the suit, custom cast red straps for the underside of the bracers, in tyme for my next convention, Motor City Comic Con. Be well. Thomas
  4. Good morning, I like the execution of this lady's CGI Clone Wars Asajj very much; The bald pate in particular, is excellent, among the best I have seen. The only point of critique I have to offer would be the treatment of the wrapped sections of the costume; waist, arms and legs. The paint applied works very well, but I would see it applied to a physical 3-D set of wraps, as in the CGI render; Bravo. Be well, Thomas
  5. Good morning, Inspired by the fine work of my fellows on costumes of this character, I feel it is tyme I finally share my preliminary research sketches; Helmet and body to scale The the undersuit and General Grevious Arm Prosthetic, front The the undersuit and General Grevious Arm Prosthetic, back Detail of hand and right fingertip prosthetics I hope this is of aides to others interested in the character. Be well, Thomas
  6. I appreciated your post on the Legion Boards. Very handsome work. It simply makes me happy to see folk take the tyme and effort to do their work well. Be well, Thomas
  7. Ja lubia tofuje bote moj Kohana. Excellent work. I believe you will be bringing a fine Mara Jade to the ranks, and I applaud your effort. Thank you.
  8. The purpose of the long skirt like hakama is to disguise the swordmaster's foot work, to keep his foot positioning from telegraphing his movement. I loved the long floor length skirt of this concept for the EP II supporting villain; The dress became more than a fashion element as designed. It became a very real battle accessory. Similarly I shook my hands at the sky when the designers took away her skirt for the computer animated iteration of this character, having her instead hopping about in her tights like some flittering pixie. While I would not fault the length you have chosen for you skirt, I would suggest your costume may carry even more presence if you were to extend your dress to touch the ground. You'll need to watch your step as you walk, but it is this grace that projects the confidence of The Dark Side. Good work, Thomas
  9. Very well formed neckware indeed. I will be reviewing your application when you are ready. There are few points I'd like to cover here before reaching that stage. First, leg ware and foot ware, these should match your reference images; I think some allowance is in order for the foot ware, but I'll want to see photos detailing this aspect. When it comes tyme to do the the make-up and tattoos, please don't forget your hands. Then thers's one last detail; Thank you for sharing your progress, Thomas
  10. Topic = Pam needs cheering on to feel secure about her figure. ¿What? May I remind you; 'Nough said.
  11. You are a machine. Please PM me your address. You get a prize. Much respect.
  12. Allow me to amuse you with my understanding of Polish; Ty vegalundas bardzo eleganca, mój Kohana. --And I mean this sincerely. Wonderful work, and it fits you well. An allowance is provided for a number of Lightsabre accessories for Mara Jade. For your membership approval photos, please be sure to wear the completed leg armour, and straightened hair. I am impressed by your work and at the same tyme proud of our Pamela for setting such a strong standard for the character. Be well, Thomas
  13. Lady, I like your craftsmanship. I will be keeping a Sith Eye out for your posts. One thing about the Legion requirement for Mara Jade that has been a sore point is the body suit. The piping on both sides of the centre panel and the ribbing on the inner thighs is considered essential to the character and thus required for approval as a 501st costume; I realize forum communication is imperfect, so I will type this addendum; I mean it when I say I am impressed with the work you are sharing. I have patch with your name on it right now. I don't bring up the suit details to break your stride, but out of concerns from past approvals I have overseen as Legion Membership Officer. I hope to see your Mara approved this year. Be well, Thomas
  14. Good evening, I am working on permissions to obtain and publicly host renders for all The Force Unleashed characters discussed on this forum. Some members of this forum already have benefitted from these images. But to keep in the good graces of LFL, sharing these images publicly needs to be approved. About The Ultimate Evil, or as some refer to it, The Sith Stalker. If you are considering this as a 501st costume, I would highly suggest ignoring the concept art above, (and the action figure which was made after the concept art.) They have little in common with the game costume which is the reference for the character in 501st terms. About the character's right arm. You need look no further than General Grievous for an accurate detailed look at how the projection should look: Truth is this character has much more in common with General Grievous than Boushh, once you start to analyze the costume. I can only share one image of my own progress for now, (link to thread here) Be well, Thomas
  15. Good evening, This discussion is beginning to read as adversarial. Intended or not, I believe the definition of the roles in the process of approving a new character, (and then costumes representing that character) should be listed. In brief; 1. Interested applicant needs to gather all references and create their costume to match. 2. Working from provided resources--and where possible, adding their own--the Detachment Leader makes recommendation on the interpretation. 3. An active Legion Membership Officer should be aware of this activity--maybe preparing their own argument to help the process along. DL Simpson is unquestionably the best suited member in the Legion for her task. In this case, the finite details of the suit are being determined. DL Simpson has provided a solid reference for her concerns. Other images may prove to support Wesley's assertions. These need to be presented. What needs to be determined is the final reference for this character. Native renders of the high definition model for this appearance of the character will be referenced, and compared to the version that made it into the actual game. The first costumes to represent a new character should be scrutinized deeply. Having it 100% right at the start will be an asset to the Detachment and the Legion at large. Wesley, please place the images to support your argument. If possible please state the source. If there is a difference we must determine which is the ultimate source for the costume, and if the difference is relevant. Be well, Thomas
  16. Good evening, In a few weeks, I hope to review this character for membership in the 501st. I believe your costume, will make an excellent argument for inclusion--that is if you seek to have your costume approved in the 501st. I would like to reopen discussion on the creation of a Dark Side Adept category. Maris Brood, Mara Jade, Visas Mar, Night Sisters, and The Secret Apprentice are not Sith Lords. If appointed as Legion Membership Officer, I intend to argue for the creation a new category that better describes these characters, as was done with TC (Trooper Clone) designations. I would be interested in your thoughts on this. Be well, Thomas
  17. Gosh. One might deduce it is not enough for my armour to be bright red, that this hue is also sought after in my face. I feel I must address this. Thank you for the strong endorsement. I hope that I make it clear that I admire and respect costumers who make their own suits out of passion (and are not driven by profits on ebay alone.) This community is a family to me, home to many of my own personal heros. I am not a celebrity, I don't ask to be treated as one. It would be false to say I don't enjoy the recognition, but amongst peers, especially those passionate about costuming, equality is best. Please, call me Thomas. I don't like to "bump" a thread without a fresh image on the topic to share. Fortunately I have this; Illustration by Justin Chung for Topps Star Wars Galaxy Series 4 Imperial Knight Ganner Krieg as modeled by Thomas Spanos Topps Star Wars Galaxy Series 4 goes on sale today. Sets sold at the Target franchise sport a slightly different premium than those purchased else where. Be well.
  18. Good evening, I am still trying to improve my suit to the point that I can submit it for Legion approval. There are just a few details that I consider to be outstanding, but I will need those to be corrected, especially if I mean to get the suit by the next LMO. If the elections go the way it looks now, it will not be easy to get this approved. For NYCC, I remade the cape with twice as much fabric and in a richer twill. I re-sewed the shirt for comfort and heat dispersal. I dyed and applied a hair track to my own pony tail for body, and reworked the closure system on the breast plate. It was a pleasure to visit with Jan Duursema and family at this year's convention. Tom and Jan were especially kind in looking out for me when I was light-headed. (It is all too easy to forget proper hydration and nutrient requirements in the thick of such an exciting event.) One of the ladies I met at the show last year, aka Zammap, made an animated gif of myself as Ganner Krieg from footage taken this past weekend; It will be a while before my NYCC 2009 gallery is up, but I look forward to sharing the images when it is. Be well, Thomas
  19. Excellence my Captain, ¿Now may I recommend sharing this with a post on the Legion Board? It would serve the detachment both by providing an example of the quality expected for this character, and reminding viewers--GML's and GWL's in particular--about The Flagship Eclipse's existence. Thank you for sharing, I look forward to seeing this in person. Be well, Thomas
  20. Very nice. ¡Bravo! A good and clean interpretation of the universal KOTOR I/II sabre; Thank you for sharing this fine example. Be well, Thomas
  21. Thank you. I just received this image this morning, Illustration by Joe Corroney for Topps Star Wars Galaxy Series 4 The Clone Emperor as modeled by Thomas Spanos This character launched my interest into props and costuming. I plan to be with him a long tyme. Be well, Thomas
  22. Byss is the seat of power for The Clone Emperor. Last year (2008) I received two requests for use images of my costumed portrayal of The Clone Emperor for official reference for the character. This, combined with my remaking/updating of the costume, encouraged me to revisit my sorely out-of-date 2002 gallery. Over the course of the New Year holiday and this weekend I have assembled a new gallery for this project. In the process I have added new images from forgotten archives with more relevant captions than the gallery's previous incarnation. (Click to visit Byss) It has been wonderful journey to reach this day. I look forward to updating this gallery soon with new developments for the character and my costume. Be well, Thomas
  23. Congratulations Pam, The sculpt alone is impressive. The built-in rechargeable power source is innovative, and quite possibly the first I have seen in my six years of this hobby. That you worked your own electronics is masterful. I like the term "Vong Stuff" you applied to the form of the sabre. While I am not familiar with the term being of a canon source I feel it should be. It explains the organic form of many of the Legacy Sith sabres eloquently. Thank you my friend for the continued inspiration. Be well, Thomas
  24. I am honoured and thrilled to share this appearance of Ganner Krieg; Illustration by Joe Corroney for Topps Star Wars Galaxy Series 4 Imperial Knight Ganner Krieg as modeled by Thomas Spanos To see the image in context click here. Keep an eye out on Joe's message board. You might just spy a couple more familiar faces from our corner of the Expanded Universe. My Imperial Knight Progress I plan to rework my own armour, every piece, in the coming year. I want to reform aspects of it for a better fit. I want to cast the pieces in red resin and fibreglass. I will chrome the Imperial Logos. Undersuit will receive special attention, and I will finally complete my own Imperial Knight lightsabre. (It is important to me that I craft it myself.) For now, Be well, Thomas
  25. Me encanta la armadura. La parecerá bien en ti. > Gracias para compartir.
