  1. Does anyone have an opinion on the cap shoulder? I'm getting close to sewing the outer tunic and would appreciate hearing some ideas about it.
  2. i'm going to start working on the tunics a bit soon, and i was wondering; is there a cap sleeve on the outer tunic? or at least over top of the full sleeve? it looks like there is one in the pic i've seen a few costumes that have that detail and a few that don't, so i'm wondering if i should put it on or not.
  3. personally, i prefer the heels, it gives you a more sinister posture. but for approval you should use the flats. other than that i think the buttons on the chest box look a little off-kilter in these pics. i would suggest using separate buttons similar to the ones on an officers rank badge.
  4. i'm sewing a nihilus costume for a friend and wanted a little input from you guys on the cape. i've been reading over scotts build blog and put a muslin together because i'd rather mess up with that than the raw silk he bought for the project. so feast your eyes upon the great white nihilus! i know i should take 4-6 inches off the outer cape, and the front isn't draping right, but to be fair, it's not glued onto the crown, it's just held on with little clamps
  5. i've had to go searching for that more than a time or two. thank's for pinning that pam!

    costume

scott and pam's site have a ton of information about building nihilus. i'm helping a friend make that costume as well and i keep going back to it for learn more. http://chucrew.com/Nihilus/Nihilus.html
  7. i love the jacket, loved it since the game came out. i'm the wrong body type for any starkiller, but if someone found a good base for that jacket i'd wear it.
  8. i know this thread is a little old, but i felt that i'd throw in a piece of advice for weathering fabric and soft parts. take sandpaper to them. if you have a mouse sander lay out your piece and go at it all over, it takes that "new" look right out in a hurry.
  9. i don't think starkiller had sith eyes, at least i don't remember him having them. if anyone has photo evidence of it i will gladly shut my mouth. also, i'm throwing out a hi from your sister garrison, timberline.
  10. sweet! new pictures to study endlessly in persuit of a perfect starkiller!
  11. what was the turnaround time before you got the saber in your hand?
  12. that nihilus saber is ridiculously sexy. do you have any more info on that maker? what boards does he post on? screen names? i want a nihilus saber, i just don't want to jump in with both feet on another machinedfx. *edit* wow i just noobishly necro-posted. i shall hang my head in shame for the rest of the day.
  13. nice belts. for your shirt did you use basically a thermal underwear shirt, or did you make a tunic out of it? and where did you get the saber?
  14. those are covertec clips, same as the ones used to hold every lightsaber on a jedi in the prequels. he's got four of them running across the back of the three inch belt (the big one).
  15. hey pam, sorry i havn't gotten pics yet. i'm still on the hunt for my old xbox cables that i havn't used since i upgraded. though once i find that, i'm pretty sure i know where my video capture dongle is.
  16. when you sa you want screen grabs from the game, do you just want the training costume, or grabs of every costume? cuz i think i have an idea how to get some pics, i'll just have to find my 360's RCA cables.
  17. that's amazing! i'll have to get onto doing one of those up soon.
  18. the biggest difference between the two games is hue and saturation of colors. SC4 just doesn't have that star wars grime that TFU has.
  19. those restraining bolts are really nice aren't they? and this is completely conincendental, but i have that same comforter.
  20. in the shots pulled from cutscenes, it's pretty clear there are two clips holding together the front of the armor. and i'm pretty sure there are two straps holding together the back as well.
  21. do you see on your shoulder pieces how the angles on the back of the neck don't quite match up, (or in my case how the left shoulder extends towards the center much farther than the right). that's the reason i'm doing it as a single piece for my version 2, then splitting it up the back. i think it will help out by, if not creating symmetry, at least creating the illusion of symmetry between the two pieces.

    Gauntlet

i don't know if this has been discussed yet, but does anyone have a clear image of what is supposed to be on the gauntlet display?
  23. this costume continues to support my "borrowed from boushh" theory. the end of the snout comes right off the ubese helmet.

    Shoulder Armor

did you see the comparison shots i've posted elsewhere showing the similarities between starkillers shoulder plates and the shoulder armor worn by leia in the boushh armor from rotj? as i get closer to making version 2 armor for starkiller i'm going to try to make up that leia armor. with the final idea to be able to make a mold that i can vaccuform. i think it would end up being a three part mold, one for the back plate (that can be split up the center later for those doing starkiller) and the two front plates, maybe put some indentation for spotting the restraining bolt, but not too deep so it could easily be filled with a little bondo.
