  1. As a personal pet peeve, can I just ask that you not wear the cloak closed all of the time? it annoys me to no end, when someone has an amazing, beautiful, or intricate costume and then proceeds to cover +90% of it every time they wear it. What's the point of wearing it then? Sorry, had to get that off my chest.
  2. Hmmm.... while I can't speak for the CRL as it stands, given that it's a concept version that came out long before the game, it could be said that we have no idea what his hair looks like under the hood. While I personally would recommend it for consistency amongst the Starkillers - I certainly could see it being allowed on that technicality.

    bodysuit??

I don't know about latex/rubber, but last I heard bodysuits (generally referring to spandex) were not allowed. As far as I know, the reasoning is that it doesn't look realistic. Latex or rubber, if done right, I think could look very realistic, so I personally think the LMOs would have to see it before passing judgement.
  4. I agree - the more I look at it, the more I'm excited about how much it has progressed. I can't wait to count you amongst our ranks
  5. Your cape or your skirt, whichever one you're stepping on, needs to be shortened your cape needs to meet in the middle a little lower on your chest (near the point of the collar armor). I did this personally with velcro but you could use a button, eye hook, etc. You're obi looks a little flat where in ref pics it looks a little more bunched up, but that one may be up for debate. That's all I see right now, other than that looks pretty good!
  6. Nope, those were my only two problems and I feel you addressed them pretty well.
  7. Wow, from a fellow costumer's standpoint I am impressed with how similar you look and I have to say a very heartfelt bravo! but then I have to put on my Costume Mentor hat, and 2 things stood out in your picture - on the left we have what looks like a leather strap instead of a buckle. On the right we have a random D-ring. are those 2 belts just turned at an odd angle in this picture or should those not be there? second, when you go to take your pics for submission, only have 1 lightsaber in the photos. Starkiller only uses and carries one until you get to game 2, or Sith Stalker. I agree, its fun and you feel bada**, but we're a little nitpicky on things like that.
  8. I talked with Pam and we've agreed that the color of your shoulder armor straps is okay - which was my main complaint, but we also agreed that the sheen coming off of them needs to be fixed. I'd recommend a similarly colored acrylic paint if you don't want to remake them - it'll tone down the shine and potentially give it a leather grain.
  9. I like it so far. you even have your belt worn at an angle the way it should be (though I'm not entirely sure that was intentional). Is there a seam at the top of the yoke vest that you could angle off to better conform to your shoulders? it won't really matter once the cape is on, but it might help things lie flatter in the long run. I see one thing that's bugging me, but it's accurate to the CRL so I need to check with pam before I mention it. I'll get back to you on that. But besides that I love how your costume is coming together!
  10. Yikes, that sounds like a problem. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't know where to begin to help you with boots - mine were store bought and I didn't have to have someone modify them. Best of luck, maybe someone else can help you...
  11. wow, beautiful! I like the way this is coming together!
  12. your sleeves almost look like corduroy or velveteen. Make sure you get pics of that too, because that's not an accurate material if it is. The ribbing/piping on the sleeves looks very close together where each strip should be about 1" wide, but that MAY slide.
  13. k, I uploaded a proof of concept video for you: let me know if that helps!
  14. Grrr, I can't find an example to show you but I know how to do this because I've seen it before... Essentially, in each one you would have 2 long stretched out corkscrews, each held in a small slowly spinning motor. You run these through a "bag" of fabric (2 sides, stitched closed on all 3 showing edges) and when the motor is running it has a rippling effect. I wish I could show you with a link online of what I'm talking about but I can't find anything, sorry.
  15. 1) my skirts are actually all one piece held on by the obi, so you are certainly allowed to do that as long as it looks right. 2) I just continued the same claw pattern untill it reached the end of the narrow underskirting (mine is about 8 inches across each side) 3) Since you don't see the attaching point you can do anything you want. Mine is sewn closed and then velcros under the collar armor. 4) This promo version of starkiller doesn't have a set lightsaber hilt. A vader-esque lightsaber is seen in half of the art while something more generic is seen in the other half. I'd recommend we keep with either Vader or TFU Starkiller hilts only for some consistency. 5) Really that question falls on your shoulders, either way is acceptable and the latest I heard was we don't even require you to have one (this may be outdated though) do whatever you want on that one. Hope it helps!
  16. I like it! It looks good and mean! If you don't mind a recommendation, I think your arm wraps need to be dirtied up to match your neck and boot wraps. Still, impressive costume!
  17. It looks like you have a good solid start. I look forward to seeing your progress!
  18. It looks to me like any sort of tan cotton fabric would suffice as long as you padded it out to look right. Sorry if that isn't much help, we don't deal with custom characters that much here
  19. OH! now I feel oblivious 1. if by double sash you mean the 2 grey tabards hanging from the belt, no there is no set rule yet. there are 4 downward sweeping wings on each one and a light grey border line about 1/2"-1" away from the edge. Just make it look right. I cut out one good pattern and then cut out the 8 wings in one go. 2. Since it was a promo version of starkiller, they hadn't created his signature open hilted saber yet and I would guess that Vader's was thrown in there as a stand in. I'm sure it wouldn't matter unless someone wanted to be very picky. And should that happen, just don't wear it in your submission photos - last thing I heard was we can't require someone to have a weapon anyway. 3. Don't worry about the sling as there's only one early photo that even looks like there's a sling there. Personally I wouldn't worry about the covertech clip either unless you REALLY need somewhere to hang your saber. There was never a clear enough photo to prove what was holding it on, beyond his skill with the Force. hope that helps!
  20. I'm not really seeing a question there, but I'll take a stab at what you're hoping for thoughts on - I think it more has to do with your cape, it's sitting a bit high and close to your neck. it actually meets closer to the bottom tip of your collar armor and extends out at a rough 140 degree angle. I used an eye hook to hold mine down, I'd recommend that or velcro. Beyond that I'm not sure what your question is. Could you elaborate?
  21. looks like a solid start. Only problem I can see off hand is the straps holding down the shoulder armor have to be a dark maroon. Chest armor may be a bit tall, but we'll have to see how the cape lays over it.
  22. as far as I know (having never played the games) Revan is the protagonist you play as and a customizable character - customized characters are not approved. At the moment we only accept the masked, cannon Revan, but even an unmasked Revan is male in cannon (however we don't discriminate by gender, so you could probably argue that one). So sorry to say it but I doubt you could get away with that one. You are more than welcome to do a masked Revan though, and I'd love to see it, he/she is rather under publicized in my opinion.
