  1. Ok so another update! I have gotten my suit and vest and it's AMAZING!!!!! A little tightening down to do around the waist, but other than that, this has turned out WAY better than I could have imagined As well to having the suit finished, I was able to solve a problem I had with trying to attach the armor I'm making, so two birds with one stone!!!! Key: Template Made Still need Sewing then complete So all that's left is the following: Claws (will be modeling mine off of @Yankee71, so thank you sir!) - Template Made Boot covers - Template made Glove covers with cords - I have an idea for this, but will be needing assistance for it as I'll have to reinforce the spots in the arm so it prevents pulling and such. Lightsaber (thinking I might actually buy this rather than making a cheaper version) Skirt (fixing the back panel and tattering them slightly) - EASY fix, just gotta sew and then it's done Back Neck Piece - Again, Template made, but this'll more than likely be for approval ONLY and not for trooping Hair Braid And Shoulder Armor (along with middle Triangle Piece) - Template already made
  2. LOL that frequently happens with designs (as you know)! Just look at yours as an original design, and mine is the younger brother! You can always get a updated version if you want to spend the money for it!
  3. You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar! This is a GREAT CRL!!!!!! Concrete with text that it makes it easier Grazie, my friend! Now onward to finish mine
  4. Mind me asking what saber did you get and for what price? I've been debating if I should buy one or not and then just modify the rest myself? Is it the Raven? https://www.ultrasabers.com/product-p/stunt-raven.htm
  5. I had to get boot expanders just to get the boots past my calf muscles... either way, they work and the new design I have come up with will also help hold the boots together more! These reference photos are amazing!
  6. I know that right after this, he was expressing an interest in ABS rather than the resin, but either way, Rob's stuff looks FANTASTIC! I was extremely happy with the end results, even if I had to wait a little bit. He has sparked my interest to saving up for a better pair of hard armor for the future .
  7. Perfect! I had plans for the Lvl 1 crl, but after seeing these I like these a WHOLE lot more! They seem relatively easier as well, as it seems like a cover with multiple straps that would velcro to the front (wrapping around the back of the calf), which would also help with the situation I'm suffering through (bigger calves due to farm work and such). This is fantastic and I'm already brainstorming new plans
  8. A lot of these I've seen, but the boots have evaded me somehow?!?!?! This was my biggest question, as I've complained about the CRL as well, but what do we use? Now that there are better images of the boots (thanks to these reference photos) should we use these or the ones shown on the CRL? If this is what we're supposed to use then it won't be that tough. Bogan, I have also updated my thread with some images of what I have done with the shoulder armor so far. @Yankee71, thoughts?
  9. Update... here's the helmet from Wicked Armor... must say that artistically it's stunning and weathering is fantastic!
  10. Interesting concept about the face mask... I never thought about somehow creating a damn . I have yet to try cat crap and have used ivory soap (which goes on easily, but you have to rub it clear), and that helps, but after a while it STILL gets a little foggy. I'll have to go and get some cat crap... it sounds so wrong when I type it down lol. Heat isn't a problem for me either lol, but I agree, I went trooping in 95 degree heat and had LITTLE ventilation and fogged up so bad the only thing I could see was the Jedi's Lightsaber in front of me (that was changing colors). I just followed that lol Other than that, how's it looking so far, sir?
  11. I'm including the images of the armor now. This is the front and back. I'm still no where near completion, but for a v1.0 it's not that bad. Front Back I'm coming up with a few different strapping methods so I'll be experimenting and will get back later. I have to carve out the groove on the armor, but just a little more cleaning up to do then onto strapping! Now as for the items I'm using it's mostly EVA foam based. The claws I'm going to make two separate versions for when I go to troops and such so I'm not poking some poor child. So I'm going to have a "hard copy" and a Foam copy. The skirt I made myself out of black fabric and there's no pattern to the back. I'm currently in the process of making the triangle piece on the back and making it light up, but also have the ability to open from the back to replace any battery packs/lights that might need to be replaced down the road. Boots I got a pair from a online store and making the covers for those and the gloves. The hair braid I've been debating since it's not a requirement, it wont be tough to do that part at all. The lightsaber I'm still making the hilt. Most of the things I'm going to have are going to be hand made so I can always upgrade in the future. The belt buckle is the same (EVA FOAM), but seeing another thread with a belt has inspired me to do something a little different. That's a upgrade I can go with later! I have just have one more thing I have to fix on the belt buckle then it'll be completed. Still trying to figure out a configuration for the fans as the helmet area is SOO small! If anyone has one... please let me know!
  12. Once I get the suit (should be later this week) then I'll be posting some pics! Updating more of the original post due to now having a working v.1 model of the hard armor.
  13. Updated the list above as I've FINALLY gotten a balaclava!!!!!!!!!! Once less thing I have to worry about
  14. Ok so I'm FINALLY excited because I can FINALLY say that I've gotten my helmet so I'm one step closer to becoming approved!!!! Color Key: Green = Completed/Have Orange = Have materials for and have not started Blue = Started template White = version 1.0 started (will eventually update for better version copy) Red = Do not have mats or have not started in on Purple = Being made by another I have the following items now: Helmet Gloves Boots Skirt Belt buckle & Cod Piece Balaclava Shirt, vest and pants (being made by a local seamstress... who I might add kicks @$$ from what I've seen with her work! Approval Lightsaber - Trooping Lightsaber (under construction haha) - one I don't mind having to fix if it should fall/break - Items still waiting for: NONE!!!!! Items I'm going to be making/getting Items Currently Working On: Claws - working copy completed! Bands for the gloves Bands and coverings for the boots - I have this planned out with a few reference images so I can make this better Back piece (triangle middle section) with lights neck piece Hair Braid Cords for the right arm - still debating on what to use Balaclava (still do not have one even though I'm approved as a TK lol) Finish the shoulder armor Carve trenches into Armor Spray paint a dark/gun metal silver Weather slightly Attach to suit I will start in on this and start uploading pics once I go and get a few more mats! Soon I'll be on my way to becoming approved!!!!!!!
  15. TK 28222 Requesting access http://501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=25760 I FINALLY finished my first costume, now onto the next one... Starkiller
  16. Yes you're correct about the gloves not being listed, but I was going based on the gloves that were presently shown in the image on the CRL. I'll be sure to add this to my list of things that need to be changed on my list Thank you!
  17. Now this helps GREATLY!!!! Let me ask one question... are the gloves on the CRL the correct ones? I mean with the pattern on the top of the hand. I've got a pair of gloves and I'm going to have to "alter" them to fit the CRL, but with yours they're regular non-patterned gloves? I'm going to have to replicate your cable method as well because that's amazing! I was going to use lug-nuts that are attached/glued to a cable somehow so they'd still be detachable (for storage reasons lol). These are great, thank you!!!!!!!!
  18. Thanks! I'll be checking that section out frequently!
  19. Hello! I'm running into the same problem currently. There is the CRL (which has been brought to my attention isn't completely correct/finished atm, then there are in-game reference images (which has been provided by the detachment leader): http://www.theflagshipeclipse.com/forums/index.php?/gallery/category/34-starkiller-dark-lords-armor-hoth/ As well as modeling your gear/suit off of: https://wickedarmor.com/project/lord-starkiller-costume/ As I have also been told that this guy currently has a VERY close replica costume (and by very close I mean I've been told to model mine off of this as well). Hope these help
  20. You've answered my questions, thank you! I usually stick to the CRL because I'm new (almost approved on my first outfit). The CRL I was referencing with my TK is a popular one so when I saw this one I noticed some things were off, but I didn't know if it was part of the tier 1 and so on? The more I started looking into it is when I came across your thread. So you're a great deal of help and I'm glad to have come to the forums after deciding on my next (SL hoth) outfit. The only thing that was worrisome are the images on the CRL. At the very least should be updated... for those people who use the CRL as strict reference. Thank you again
  21. I've read your entire thread and I'm going to be making this costume as well, but I think everything should be listed in the CRL. Upon reading more I noticed this: "This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type." So is it safe to say that the visuals of this outfit are the bare minimum? There's so much missing and if I were to just follow the CRL I'd be denied Again... there needs to be a CLEARLY stated minimum requirement like you've suggested here. It'll make the ENTIRE APPROVAL process easier on the GML reviewing for submission (not to mention it'll also be less stress on the one making/buying all the parts for this costume). I'm also going to be compiling a "list" of the required items for bare minimum approval. The CRL is unreliable with this costume (as has been stated already)
  22. Why am I just now seeing this?! Thank you for the reply and explaining the boots and such to me! I'll be keeping a eye out for some!
  23. I am terribly sorry for the late reply, but the recent Hurricane we had made things a little hectic. So now things are getting back to "normal" Grazie!!!! So far I'm experiencing a great vibe here So far I'm experiencing the same thing. The only problem I'm having is getting the helmet... I have someone that I've asked if I could get them to make one and they've agreed, but they're extremely busy at the moment so I'm having to wait... which isn't a bad thing since I'm also focusing on my TK and awaiting approval for that as well! I have the suit from a local seamstress, who's already met with me and taken my measurements, got a pair of boots that I can adjust to make acceptable for the CRL (since it's a little tough to find a decent pair of there here that aren't rubber). I am "decent" with making things so I've decided to make the shoulder pieces and belt buckle along with the "crotch guard". The different lightsaber hilts are going to cause me a LITTLE trouble, but as long as there's plenty of reference photos I'll be fine. I don't want to spend $300+ on each saber haha. I'll be shooting you a PM shortly, thank you I've always been a fan of this character from the games
  24. Also had another question. With the suit/jacket... did you make your own? And if so, out of what? I believe it was your thread that was mentioning pool liners? I tried to research more and was unable to find anything and your thread is using photobucket... which doesn't allow for third-party posts now (unless you pay to upgrade?!). I can make the other things easily (which some time lol), but the jacket was the only one I was concerned with at the moment (the vest part won't be that tough either)
  25. Wow thank you very much! Hope he does unfinished products for a tad bit less, but if not then I'll continue to save up
