  1. Sorry to see that no ones replied to this! Hello and welcome to you! I understand your "cant build anymore costumes" my husbands at that point with me! As to your question, Id assume youd be ok, providing you cant see the seam to much. def want to ask a higherup than me, but your probably ok?
  2. hehe no no no I am a chick with long hair! you dont have to ^.- Just conceal it! I pull mine back under my hood and keep my head WAY DOWN! XD I hear ya on the goat, My "bestie" who does Nihlius has a HUGE Goatee! XD I love his goat. He wears a Bacalava to conceal it Trust me most of us are tatoo faced, goatee wearing, long haired metal heads. Weve ALL got something (off) about us, Heck! Im a woman and I do a MALE Sith Lord. Psh.... Always ways around things! ^.-
  3. Well then look at it this way, nothing is stopping you from having more than one costume! Heck many of us here have have more than one. Start with the easier of the two. Then you can get trooping!! I loove Acos and Nihl. Both are great costumes!! The nihl mask and costume might be easier than Aco? The awesome Jeff might be able to confirm which is easier at this time. A few months ago when I was looking into making a 501st costume I originally looked into a Nihl or Aco and was mailed almost immediatly by people selling Nihl masks. The aco in reality is very detailed as well. While it lacks a little less color it makes up for it in details and armor. Its a costume you'd def need to set aside 900$ for as well
  4. Huge Hello and WELCOME!! Feel free to show these photos to a Seamstress. I made my entire costume from scratch. As most of us have to, because they dont sell this stuff quality enough online. Being as though I just made/worked on both of these costumes in the last few months I hope I can assist, The Vest I started shopping and purchased a piece of VERY DARK charcoal pleater. and paying VERY CLOSE attention to the design of the concept art I sewed straight lines into about a yard of material (approx 2.5 inches wide) **Dependant upon ones body scale proportions you will note that there are 7 or so lines on the front** (i lined it with foam haha) I then made a "vest" Here is a photo. My Obi is a very thin pleather that I then lined with cotton. Here is my WIP Might help out your seamstress as well (or you if you sew) viewtopic.php?f=73&t=2556 If you are seeking budget Set aside 900.00 for the costume IF YOU DO NOT SEW I completed the entire costume in 200.00 (or less) But I sewed the entire thing from scratch. (boots included) Having something approved by the 501st is a heck of a task (totally not undo-able, just need to set aside enough $ for mistakes is why I say this) Research the wazoo out of these 2 costumes before doing anything. coming here was a good step! Having done/seen/researched BOTH Throughly. Id advise going with Nihl. The costume is mostly soft parts. No weird colors of cloth to match up/mess up on. Its a much easier costume to find and just buy as well. There are Dozens (maybe even 100?) of Nihl's out there and only a couple approved Starkiller concepts. Why? Cause the Concept Robes need to be made with such attentiveness to detail that no one makes em in bulk. Where as with Nihl, your dealing with robes, and being as though robes are something you can be 10lbs larger or smaller in, people tend to make em more readily and are available to more people. ( cant gain or lose weight with my costume, I look like I have a bag on me) ha! I am the biggest Starkiller fan in the world. I want to see more people make him. But his costumes are VERY complicated. If your willing to do the HEAVY amounts of reseacrh itll take, DO IT! If not. Go for the easier of the two. =) Just my 2 cents.

  7. Big project wise, I want to do a real lit electrical box! I think it'll look soooo much better. Wish I knew what it says in there....... o.o need a closer look its all so blurry. Even when I pause it. If anyone can get a closer or better shot. ILL TAKE IT!!! Bwahahha! Thanks so much Jeff!
  8. Rob does some darn stunning work! Couple of pieces of costuming I am dreading making that I wish he just made XD
  9. Hello! Welcome to the forums and I cant wait to see your build progress. One wonderful thing about the 501st that I have learned in making these costumes (videogame/EU ones specially) is the reference always comes first, and if you find a better way to do something, then so be it! Everyone is so helpful, here to learn and here to teach. If you find a better method. Man, do it! Pop up some video on youtube of the thing in motion if you find it moving, post it! Just show proof and why you did what you did You could build yours out of Sintra? I just recently started using Sintra and wow the stuff is amazing! Sintra is a great moldable plastic that bends to your will upon heat application. Sintra might just work for what your looking to do.
  10. Alright guys be honest, sorry this took so long. Been super busy. Hope everyone is doing well!
  11. Thank you so much for the quick reply! I was thinking the exact same thing and was concerned about that as well.... We live in Southern Cal. Its 100 degrees outside today haha XD! I dont need him passing out.
  12. His costumes been submitted but there is an issue with his sleeves. Can any APPROVED Nihilius come tell me What is the Fabric you used for your sleeves?? **In a lot of photos it looks like that quilted fabric that you get from any fabric store that prequilted?* It says a smoother fabric. His Costume feels like a cotton weave but his sleeves are leather (he got the costume from a guy who was approved in the 501st with it) *I didnt make it so i dont know the exact materials* there is no issues with the costume except the sleeves. Recommendations on fabric MUCH appreciated, Thank you my Lords
  13. ♡♥♡♥♡ that is wonderful
  14. Got it! Totally see what he/they mean. Also Here is a closeup of the armor. I know a lot of the shine is giving it that look like its got some bumps. But its smoothcast resin. its super smooth. But still with that said I will repaint it. As I agree Thank you so much for trying to clear up anything before I get home and change it as its nice to have it figured it out haha Now that I look at it... you know Maybe I should do it in a DARK Charcoal Grey and black paint?? Matte or very light Satin finish. Wonder how that will look I like lists. I am a chick that digs on lists XD I need em!! haha Thank you so much. Rivits: Drat. your night. I did 6 on the rivits. its supposed to be 8. Oh my goodness. *is dumb* yep... yes I am..... Thank gosh there is only 10 of them on both gaunts. -.- Box: Yep I see the 2 red lights!
  15. Hey there! I couldn't remember why I did those in Hexa. Then I remembered! The original photo ref to the following images are on the first page btw if you want to see the entirety. Anyways here is something I did up! (Basically To show why I did what I did) I am of course happy to change anything!! I just want to make sure this is done Correctly! (as we all do) Maybe this will aid in some of the confusion.
  16. No worries at all!! I understand his vacation issues. Yeah I cant even make ANY Changes until the 1st of Sept XD Yep! Will do on the size of the buckle edging! 1/4 inch looks about right sir Lemmie know if you hear anything else! Thanks so much! I wonder if this is something I should ask my hubby about. Would be nice to get it larger. I have the game after all! It would be nice to know EXACTLY what is written on it. I cant get anything but gobbly goop when I look! I *thought* I had all the cut outs correct in shape/size though! On the side by side like I did below I think I might have added a few to many letters?
  17. This belt buckle when I did it originally. if you go back in photos and look. its the wrong color as well. I feel like the color should be the color I have it? The Vader buckle is WAY to Shiny isn't it? Yep I see what you mean about the edges Mine might be 1/8 of an inch or a lil more off huh? Color though you guys don't think I should make it THAT metallic silver shiny right?
  18. Ok the chest box. I do plan on redoing it anyways. I was thinking sintra. I waned to do it with a light as well. Question: does anyone have any ideas of where I could get a perfect image of what is written on the box? Also if clarification comes back on the armor and its not going to work, the husband says he will redo that as well in sintra if need be
  19. Thank you so much!! Yes thank you for trying to get the clarifications as well! Changes are to be expected =) I am on vacation til the 31st (I am 90 miles from the costume haha) so I cant make any changes til I get home unfortunately. But I hope we can get the clarifications (or some of the issues handled) by then! =) BELT This is one I may need some help from you guys on, Maybe I should have explained how I did the new belt. I scales it up to my body size proportions and printed out a copy of the Original ref. Then I overlaid that and cut it out to make the new belt. Here is my current belt beside my Ref Please let me know what you guys think is wrong! I always miss things so its really nice to see the crits! It seems to line up though? But I dunno. Just tell me what to do and ill glady do it!
  20. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Addressing stuff in next post. But I really appreciate this! Yes please please clarification! Cant change it if I don't know what exactly it is. I think for the closure. I dunno. Maybe just affix something over the band to make it look smoother. Like Velcro a silver black strip over it?
  21. Woah woah. You just said Thomas. That must be the man I am looking for! I NEED to get a hold of a man named Thomas! Ill explain later though itll become BLATANTLY obvious soon considering your position. Whats his username?? Its possibly easier just to go through looking at the highups I am sure! *excited* =D and....Oh my gosh thats right sir you wanted a straight on shot of the belt. sorry Ill get that ASAP 100% assumed this! haha thanks Gimmie a Heads up for anything wrong with the costume!! hehe Ill change whatever you guys need ASAP!
  22. *hugs* Thank you soooooooo much Jeff!! I was so worried you would be so mad at me You help me soooooooo much!
  23. PLEASE mail if you need ANY HELP WITH THIS COSTUME!! I hear you! I am VERY new to cosplay and working with leather. I only joined the Rebel Legion 3 months ago and the 501st a month ago now. But Ive been sewing for years I priced out real leather for that costume 350.00 with tandy.. its ridiculous. also because of the shape and size needed for the back piece in particular you need a HUGE piece. I HIGHLY recommend just going to Joannes with a 40% off coupon and buying the Upholstery Boat Leather (its fake) it feels beautiful! its an off white (not quite creme) as you can see from my pics it gives a great sheen your looking for just like on the real one. I think I did one yard, was a whopping 9$. Use FAKE Leather i cant stress this enough... cause if you messup on real... thats a 300+ dollar mistake! BTW back when I posted that I was just in the process of making those robes. When finished I was approved in just a couple days. So if you make a WIP on the Rebel Legion Jedi Boards and just go from there, you will be set! Lots and lots of helpful Jedi (Including myself) to aid you in making this costume. Also yesterday afternoon a book I ordered weeks ago came. Its Starwars the force unleashed Art book, ill take some photos of the robes that are in it!
