  1. Somehow, I never even saw this post!

That would be a tough one to gauge if you were still interested in application. I would say give it a few weeks to a month for the election to pass over and the (possibly) new cabinet of LMOs to get settled and changed over, and it can be brought to them to see where it would best go. I'd be more than happy to facilitate the communications with the LMOs, if so!

  2. It depends on the application of the title. I'm working on a specific version of the, "marketing" Inquisitor, but it is a specific individual reference with a complete outfit.

These individuals have different outfit, "accessories", so it would be difficult to make it off a combination of them together.

  3. I used the antique gold, copper, and bronze spray paints and did a 3 layer of bronze with full cure and light wet sanding between. Then, I did 1 final coat but before it dried, I....dusted (?) it with the gold and copper lightly. This allowed it to take on the effects of all 3 depending on what angle you are looking at it from.

Granted, this method took forever to do, but the finished effect was well worth it.

  4. Since I have been asked several times for different characters in GoH, both older and newly released, I'll make one post to hopefully help clear it up!

    1. Yes, the current TFE Command and assigned LMOs for TFE support adding GoH versions of characters as eligible for TFE approval/new CRLs, SO LONG as there is a full 360 degrees of reference to show all the details. The view option in game makes that pretty much a non-issue, but we still need the highest resolution possible.

    2. If the character in question already has an approved version in TFE, then a couple things can happen:

    a) If there are no differences between the approved version and the GoH version, then no new CRL is made and it is considered the same as the existing approval for said character.

    b) If there are differences between the approved version and the GoH version, then a new CRL can be made. In this case, it is considered a New to the Legion Work in Progress (NTTL WIP) and requires an entirely different approval process that includes the TFE Command Costume Staff and the TFE LMO directly. In this case (and any not already approved character, regardless of media source), it is recommended to contact the DL and LMOs directly so that the process can be set up and advisement can be given. In this case, you can contact the LMOs at LMO@501st.com and they will redirect to the proper folks, or email me directly at Nina501st@gmail.com and I can pull in our specific LMOs.

I believe he's referring to the Heavy Training Gear (at least that's my translation of HTG).

If so, I look forward to seeing your progress! I've been sitting on mine for FAR too long and maybe seeing your progress will get me up off my butt and finish it. Good luck on your build! please let us know if you need any help.

Yeah that was my bad. I had just responded to two GoH threads and my dyslexic brain was stuck on that, lol.

  6. Yeah, it all comes down to, "do they make the main character's lives difficult in completing their mission?"

If you can argue that point, then there's relatively good chance, but given how light side he was, I'd call him Neutral Good vs True Neutral. Still would be great to see it!

  7. Congrats on being newly approved with a TFE costume! Now, there is a list of things that you'll want to make sure that you complete to get the most out of the Detachment and Legion.

    1. Make sure you are properly registered here for correct permissions and access to member-exclusive stuff! you'll want to make sure you have your TKID and 501st forum profile in your TFE forum profile (this forum). You can find directions on how to do so HERE.

    2. While you're there, make sure your rank is listed as, "Detachment Member". If it isn't you can post HERE and we'll get you the proper rank for access. You won't be able to participate in Member-only programs, participate in Detachment elections, or buy merch without the proper permissions, so don't forget to check!

    3. You can see the different TFE subgroups for the Garrison/Squad units that have been approved HERE, or you can go HERE to create a new one in your area if there isn't one already there.

    4. As a Detachment Member, you'll have access to the Member-only Programs HERE and TFE/SLD-only merch HERE.

    5. You can also request to join the TFE member group on Facebook HERE. Make sure you have an approved TFE costume and that you answer ALL the questions, or your request won't be approved.

    6. We've also got a TFE Discord server that you can join! https://discord.com/invite/bW7xZ4AYv8. You can't see much when you first join until you get correct permissions for Detachment Member access, so make sure you follow the directions for such!

    7. As always, make sure you take a bit of time to check out the Legion Charter and Operations Protocols. These are the bread and butter of standards and regulations of the Legion and being a member.

Any good recommendations for where to start?

Take a deep breath, accept the inevitable heat death of the universe, and honker down while you gather the full 360 degrees of reference screenshots from the stuff for him. Does he have many differences between GoH and FU? If so, it'll be a new CRL, if not, it's just Starkiller.

  9. The biggest thing with these older games is that you have to make sure that 360 degrees of details are visible to validate the costume being eligible. That means the backs of everything from cohesive and official sources. We can't use fan art at all. So long as that is available, it is possible to submit a new costume to the Legion.

The sketches you made for it look fantastic, btw!

Yeah, after seeing one of my garrison mates attempt like 4 or 5 times to do chrome work for his Phasma, I may get it all prepped and then send it out to get chromed.

Yeah I experienced the same with my brother's Phasma armor.

The issue was that if not done perfectly, any details or grooves get lost to layers.

  11. The character would need to be shown as being an antagonist character in this exact version as step 1, and then cohesive references showing all 360° of details would need to be gathered before it could be given the green light of acceptability.

It's kind of rough with switcheroo characters like this because certain versions are approvable, and certain ones are not. Examples would be Anakin with short hair being Rebel only and long hair scar version being both, or black suit Mara being 501st only and her green outfit being Rebel.

The simplest way to decide is, "did the character act as the antagonist in the story by actively working against the, 'good guy' while wearing this outfit?"

If that can be answered with a, "yes", then gather the 360° references and we move to step 3 of your build process.

  12. First step would be to validate that they, do, in fact meet the requirements of being an antagonist character in the story, and then validating that a full 360° of cohesive details are available. If both of those can be done, then we can look at the character being added to the 501st and Detachment. 🙂

  13. Greetings!

We don't have specific places to get parts for the majority of TFE costumes since they're rather niche. If this is a version that does not currently exist in the 501st approval list, then your best bet is to break down the parts needed with references, and then begin a research thread on what you have found.

From there, people can offer existing advice on what you have found as available real-world translations for fabrics/parts/etc.

Also, before starting, you'll want to make sure you have a full 360° of detail of the character in that version you're looking at as it is required to validate approval details against when submitted. Just remember that you can't mix and match with other versions to fill in any missing details.

I will mention, the uniqueness and specialty status of our characters in the Detachment makes things like the research phase of laying out and bringing the character to life that much more difficult, but is also what makes the finished costumes so much more amazing.
