  1. As much as I hate to point something out like this, I actually only just realized something that was giving me a funny feeling. Your edges, while very nice and curvy, are curvy. Should they not be a little more straight, with an internal corner there? I have a suggestion on where to put the lines, I can draw something up after work.
  2. Yeah I thought it was an informal suggestion, that we were referring to, such as an internal reference not an actual change to our lettering that would differentiate us from the SLD. Unless I'm mistaken there.
  3. Looks like you double-posted this message. That aside, sorry to hear about your trouble. I'm actually not sure which piece you're referring to. Shoot me a picture and I'll come up with an idea. I'll PM you my phone number too, Brother, I'm about to leave for a Boy Scout function I'm on the planning committee for so I'll be out of pocket most of the day.
  4. That's a discussion for another time that needs to get brought up again I think. An orange is an orange is an orange.
  5. If you're doing your own fabrication, I suggest taking a look at what has already been done, but honestly, the best thing you can do is to print out full size images of the armor, scaled to your own dimensions, and lay out images of revan's armor over images of yourself. This will ensure your proportions are correct and fit to YOU and will also ensure that you're aware of each and every detail of the piece.

  8. The pommel isn't my favorite but the rest of it seems to be fairly close.
  9. For the group, do you have any more photos you can post so people can see other angles?
  10. You have seen most of my feedback in PM, I'll see if anyone else has comments to bring forth. *Eyes the room*.
  11. Thomas told me this one and I want it to stick because I like it... Can we just quietly, in private, call it (Saber Lover)?.?.
  12. As that seems to be the basis you're using (which I'm down with), you are Correct.
  13. I don't have a checklist handy at the moment, but I'd strongly suggest getting with your GML so that he can get some photos sent to the LMO for approval.
  14. I know it hasn't been mentioned yet, but the bright side of a new designator is this: Now all YOUR merch becomes more valuable to the collectors out in the Legion, and we do have some very passionate collectors out there. If you're looking for a diamond in the coal, that'd be it.
  15. When I got mine done they were done through the Sith Lord Detachment who extended the offer to The Flagship Eclipse to help fill their numbers. That was over a year ago. My garrison is also doing a run for members only. If you can't get in on the Legion one, perhaps try the SLD or keep your eyes out for your own Garrison to do one. If you simply want your own card though there's nothing wrong with getting an artist to do a card for yourself and just double check with any merch folks to make sure you only advertise it as a personal card type. I forget the exact rules but if you needed help learning the ins and outs I'd be happy to do some research for ya. I can provide some info as to where we had our cards printed once we had the documents/art done.
  16. There's a couple of issues there MJ, sadly. Which is part of the mistakes that happen from time to time. One big confusion and I know Thomas will back this statement up: CRL is a Reference, not a Requirement. In situations like that (without risking derailing this thread too much), I have run into similar situations when making recommendations to the LMO, in particular reference to some Revans which have been approved in the last calendar year. When new information comes up, I often make the suggestion that the old way is what we 'require', as a minimum, and the new way is what we 'strongly encourage for excellence'. That way we do not damage our current membership, but we also give everyone the information we have developed in order to better portray our costumes more accurately. While at the same time not getting too elitist among our membership because one member has an upgrade that another does not. Sadly, what you described about giving current members a pass and making the change for future members is exactly the grandfathering that has been mentioned which we are seeking to avoid.
  17. I wholeheartedly support Thomas' message here. And this reason is exactly why we must tread carefully any time we make a significant change to the way we conduct our business. Mistakes in how we do this runs the risk of hurting both our image and our relations. Clearly this is causing some turmoil in our unit and the decisions made must be in regards to both immediate impact, and long-term impact. The worst thing we can do is damage the relations between our members. We're all passionate about what we're into, and to the degree we might be some of the 'most' passionate. That is why we must tread lightly or risk an inferno of emotions.
  18. Something that has not been mentioned is timeline. Through the history meanings change. If you compare Amidala's research to the post I made regarding titles in the Old Republic they very much contradict each other. The mention in my post regarding subordinates and inferiors using "My Lord" as an honorific is not indicative of them being in fact a Lord of the Sith. However in our own world we see the same thing. The Title "Sir" is often used to honor one's superior, particularly in the military where it is a part of customs and courtesies. Now bear in mind that in my military service there were hundreds, if not thousands of times when a superior of mine would call me Sir. By speculation, one might claim the previously mentioned single line in the movie where Darth Sideous calls Maul "Lord Maul", it could be an honorific used due to the presence of the Neimoidians and to cement his authority over the aliens as a position of command. Again, titles change and so do their meanings, over time they can come to mean entirely different things.
  19. As a point of order then, should each of Starkiller's costumes be looked at separately due to the time and power/training at which they were worn?
  20. From SWTOR: Original Game Codex Text The Sith Order bestows a number of titles upon its followers, as befits their rank and power. These are the most common: Acolyte: A Sith acolyte has not yet completed his or her trials in the Sith Academy, and may well die before becoming truly “Sith.” Sith: An acolyte who completes the trials and is accepted as the apprentice of a Sith Lord is considered Sith–no more, no less. Any non-Sith, however, is expected to refer to a Sith as “my lord” out of respect. Overseer: An instructor at the Sith Academy is called an overseer. Overseers are often Sith Lords, but that rank is not a requirement; they may simply be Sith with a talent for instruction. Sith Lord: A Sith who advances in the order’s hierarchy will eventually be elevated to Sith Lord. His or her name is preceded by “Lord” in formal address. In the modern Empire, “Dark Lord” is synonymous with this term. Darth: The strongest Sith Lords ascend to the position of Darth. Many take a new name at this point, symbolically embracing their transformation into something greater. Emperor: There has been only one Sith Emperor since the Great Hyperspace War over 1,300 years ago. He is supreme.
  21. I second the notion, not to have a poll though, but instead a petition. There is nothing in the Legion Charter that we can state as backing, and by the book and system, Damian is in fact correct. However, Thomas is not alone in his protest of this change, and furthermore, we as a unit should do our best to raise our voice in unison. Together with our Webmasters, I propose we get a petition page going on our site, somehow members-only access (the public does not need to be involved or know of what is going on, it is our business). Perhaps with comments, but at the very least a page where we might sign our TKIDs to it. And as a matter of point, I think that anyone affected 'especially' should sign as SL-XXXX.
  22. Sorry to hear that. All the best to you and yours.
  23. I always err on the side of local policy when it comes to trooping. We have our standards for membership obviously, but if a Garrison wishes to wear logos, or in our case, we do St. Patrick's Day and Christmas-themed events too where we decorate our costumes accordingly. The same goes with lightsabers. The lightsaber itself is optional but if worn should be as accurate as possible. If it were my event I was coordinating I wouldn't care either way as long as it was "close" and not either super- out of theme or super recognizable such as a main character from a movie. But... not my event, not my vote. If you are bladeless, perhaps sew a small pouch somewhere behind the folds of one of your pockets? I go lightsaber-less more often than not so that I have two free hands.
