  1. This thread here has some really great discussion on various types of boots out there as well as what to look for or avoid. If you have any other questions about boots feel free to ask. Congrats on the future armor. Thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2577 Not all of the images work but the links should.
  2. I'd be happy to keep an eye on this thread and I'm sure Alan will too, if one of us doesn't see something I'm sure the other will. We'll be sure to help you out.
  3. Sorry for the lack of reply on this. I think there'd be no question as to her eligibility, being a lead trainer at the "Sith" academy. Because there is no previous approval, the costume will have to go through a few extra steps for approval 'but' I don't think that's too much of an issue. If you're really wanting to get the character approved, just use every resource you can, and make the costume as close to 100% like the character in game and any red-tape approval will just be a process to deal with later. I'd start by getting full 360 images of the character, and good up close details of each part of the outfit. The tattoos will also be a very important aspect I think. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Yuthura_Ban
  4. Really great, just caught up on the photos. As a tiny-visor card carrying member, I hope you get used to panning your vision to get your bearings, and hopefully have a good stockpile of handlers available.
  5. Excellent, I think that really falls in line with our take on Clone Wars Cartoon troopers and costumes, so I think you've got the right idea. If you choose to do it by a particular theme, keep it the same so kudos. I think your take on it will be a great addition, and I look forward to seeing the pics.
  6. While I do like your idea, bear in mind that Kotor Revan is not SWTOR Revan from a costume standpoint. Keeping that in your brain I don't think you're entirely off with your idea, keeping in mind a couple of things: As a lower resolution game (comparatively) you're going to have those harder edges on a things because of the lack of anti-aliasing and other graphical nonsense. Also, as I've made the case in a couple of discussions of gray vs. silver vs. black in other areas of the costume (false illusion of shadows/shading created due to lack of in-game lighting), you wouldn't be wrong in going with a gray, but you'd also not be wrong going with a black, as many of our costumers do. I think your idea is a good one though and I'd love to see what you come up with, as I'm sure many others would. Just always keep these particular images in mind when designing and remember to keep them as true and accurate to the source images as possible and I don't think it's possible to go wrong.
  7. But he's certainly not "Good" in SWTOR, so especially with the new DS designation, I'd argue we could still take him as either a DS or an SL for SWTOR, buuut no one with the costume has made that pitch.
  8. The Custom Saber Shop is a decent place to find interchangeable parts, but depending on what you want, 300 sounds about right for a kit from top to bottom. Any more from someone is probably parts and labor for the electronics work.
  9. It's a technicality. For example, if you made an NPC that wears a full set of Tionese gear, you could be approved as that character, but if my character is in a full set of Tionese gear, I can't be approved as Darth Tagion. I've already linked Thomas our Detachment Leader to this thread, and if he thinks we should, we may get the LMO on board for this discussion as well. I'm all for finding some sort of technicality or way to link the pieces together as an option for the costume to be approved for that, we just need to find what it might be, if one exists. Amidala is our member in question with the costume and to my knowledge the only person who has done it. She even went so far as to do the make-up for it which I think is great. I've debated doing it myself/growing the facial hair a little to make it work. Her thread is here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2706
  10. The question I believe we'd need to raise is to whether or not it would be approved for the Knights of the Old Republic version of Revan. While there can be some argument that the mask is the same, the armor most certainly is depicted differently, (even though I'd technically argue that it should be the same buuut... Bioware). I believe it'd deserve some discussion between the DL, the LMO, myself and probably some of our other Revan experts for further clarification as to what we should do to proceed with perhaps even distinguishing the two costumes as we do have a member who has a SWTOR Revan approved for the Rebel Legion and the discussion of approving it for the 501st needs to probably also happen. Now... Is anything going to stop you from wearing that at a troop with your local folks? Talk to your local folks. I'm sure they wouldn't mind, assuming the costume piece in question was to our quality standards on the whole. If you want my initial response regarding Kotor Revan I'd say that we never see Revan with his hood off in the game and as such, you'd never have your chance to really show it. In the video reveal for the mask: (spoiler alert) There's actually no indication that the mask wraps around the head, as the sides of the character's head are visible. Also as seen in the video here: We see that Revan actually has a bare spot from his neckline up under that hood (no balaclava!!!!!) and in fact some bolt marks maybe where the thing attaches to his face?.? (What's up with that?) So now with that in mind, despite what your character item is displaying (which, thank you very much for sharing). I now for the sake of discussion raise the question as to when, if ever, Revan is seen wearing that particular wrap-around, and not a player-character? Because due to our requirements for costuming, we don't allow the player-characters to be represented in the 501st, only actual NPCs. I very much want to get some more input for an 'official' answer for costuming, particularly from Thomas and perhaps the LMOs as well. One way or the other though, I think if you WANT to craft that, that you should, because it looks really awesome and you shouldn't let our approval process prevent you from making something that you want to. I'll be linking this to our other leaders to get some more input. Thank you again for sharing.
  11. That's fairly outstanding. Thank you for sharing your process. I'm sure once we get a folder together for the photos we'd love to use that in the filing if you don't mind. Awesome work thus far, keep it up!
  12. Aloha! You're probably correct about the costume fitting here. If anything you'll find experts on makeup and caps and the like. Did you get that fabric custom printed or perhaps just get a lucky find somewhere? It looks really close to the picture you've shown. Also, nice grab on the boots. I suspect you'll get to make the buckles disappear but I think you've got a really great foundation there to work with both on fabric and boot. Please keep this updated and let us know if you need anything. For your shoulder armor, if you can't find anything at the BHG, I would suggest looking up the Mandalorian Merc and their stuff for crafters. If you need any help with that portion in particular, or anything else, please let me or others know.
  13. Once he's got the photos, your GMO/GML will review them if they're familiar, then either way they submit the photos to a LMO approval thread that GML/GWL/DL/DLXOs/Garrison COs and other leadership-types have access to. Anyone with access can review/make comments but the ultimate decision comes down to the LMO who in my past year or so dealing with, has been fairly positive, even with corrections. It'll come back one of three ways: Approved, Approved with some notes (quick fixes), or Referred, which will have notes attached for what needs to be fixed for approval.
  14. I double-checked through the approval thread and have not seen your costume submitted yet (I looked back to the beginning of Jan 14. Out of context I don't know when you submitted your photos, but I haven't seen them on the LMO's desk yet.
  15. Excellent. I think the 'capelet' and getting that situated is one of the hardest fittings we have, and certainly is the hardest part for me to always make sure is primped correctly before a troop.
  16. Alan can we get a look at your attachments for the hood and how you make that work? I'm curious how you've got that going and I think we'd all like to see if you've got something that works well for you.
  17. Crystal Focus, fyi, is the Lamborghini of sound boards, I had a quote on a Revan saber from a guy who would do one for a grand. There's a wait-list for crafters to even get the sound boards. But if you have one, your lightsaber can do all the sounds, play the Imperial March, and even take you to the Danger Zone if you wanted. They're insanely cool, but priced accordingly. I didn't take the offer, but it woulda been cool.
  18. For parts and labor, that's not entirely unreasonable. I'm curious what their turnaround would be. I've been waiting a year and a half for a saber from a vendor and will have paid a decent bit more than that. Sadly locked in because of a deposit. Different time, different place, I'd hit them up for some work.
  19. Looks good. Please let us know what you find out. (About the first one).
  20. That looks really sharp Alan. Nice job. I want to know how long you last in the heat! Would be perfect for a Polar Plunge troop or any sort of winter troop. Haha. Seriously though... Nice upgrade, Sir.
  21. I personally don't ever recall seeing it in the game, by by and large it's that or the spikey one shown on a wiki page or two. Doesn't stop me from carrying the generic sabers from Rob until my custom build is finally done. 1 year, 2 months waiting, but who's counting?
  22. Nicely done. I think you're definitely ready for submission. As a future project and not one for approval, I might suggest adding a little bit more paint detailing to the mask, get some different shades of red and red/silver mixed in there. But it's totally awesome as is. Great job.
  23. I did my best to overlay the two images for comparison. I think in order to straighten the edges you might be better adding material rather than removing it. It'll change your proportions, but I think the end result will be a gain. Pencil tool in PS is pretty terrible so my lines are far from straight.
