  1. I think the answer for you is a definate maybe. It depends mostly on what version of Nihilus you're planning on doing. For the Champions of the Force version, I'd say no, the gloves would not work. They're too tight around the forearm for you to be able to tuck the sleeves in. For the Knights of the Old Republic II version though, the sleeves themselves are smaller and much more form fitting. (not spandex tight, but much less bulky than the other version) I think that the gloves would fit this version of the costume well enough.
  2. Unfortunately, you can toss the action figure out the window as a reference. It's a custom piece done as a fan's interpretation. (kinda cool, the guy did a whole series of figs for Bounty Hunter, including customized card backs)
  3. Actually the sources exist. The game ending, the action figure, and I do believe that there's a Gentle Giant bust either out or coming out. But, until somebody actually finishes one to meet the existing references and submits it, it'll have no chance of being accepted as a costume for the legion.
  4. Congrats on the purchase, I'd say that you've got a good base to work from, but the work isn't over. Starting from the top: Never thought it would be said, but the peaks to the sides of the head need to be bigger. They should flare outward enough to bring the rest of the cowl flowing down around the sides of the mask, but not over it. More body to the cowl is needed I think, and get rid of the pointy tip at the back end. The cowl on the KOTOR Nihilus doesn't connect to the cape and doesn't have a knot of any kind. THe cape for the KOTOR Nihilus should be attached to the shoulders of the top. (think more like how Superman's cape is) Should be no seams down the front of the chest. It's a very sleek and simple look. The gloves (this is mostly just a taste thing I think), should probably be replaced with something that doesn't have that ribbed look to them. Hem the bottom of the outfit, you don't want to trip and fall.
  5. Whatever his reasoning though, Revan did choose to go over to the dark side and become a Sith, pitting himself against the collective galactic will. Mara acted under the command and control of Palpatine, in the same way that Stormtroopers did, or the Moffs, etc... leaving her clearly acting for evil. The Imperial Knights however, we've seen only fighting against the Sith, and have actively stated (I believe it was Ganner Krieg who said it) that their duty is to take down the Emperor if he were to ever go to the Dark Side. So even though they've got the Imperial name, they aren't villains. So far they've been portrayed as heroes more than villains. (Except Draco Antares....he's just portrayed as a putz.)
  6. Well, I hate to break it to ya, but I have the XBox 360, and the belts are there. Given the movement and size of the pics from the gameplay itself, I'll defer instead to the turnaround image provided under the extras "artwork view" option. Which is this image from the detatchment's photo gallery (push right 8 times on the X-box 360 to get to the image once you're in the gallery): http://theflagshipeclipse.com/gallery/d ... fullsize=1 It clearly shows 2 of the three belts in question. The third would be viewable if Lucasarts hadn't decided to stick the extra image on the side, cutting off the final piece of the turn around. Hopefully somebody will be able to get ahold of a full copy of the turn around for posting soon.
  7. LOL!!!! It sounds like you have been to our house! There are random body parts all over the place Between Pam's sculpting forms and mine, we actually have a full body except for hips, hands, and feet.
  8. nah, once you've put down your crystal clear, you shouldn't need any additional release agent on the clay. (when it comes time to remove the molds from the sculpture though, get that sucker nice and warm, the clay will soften and make it easier to get your mold off.) For making the final pieces in the plaster molds, I'd say you're definately going to need a release agent. Don't know that vaseline would be a good fit for that one though. Probably something thinner that doesn't capture brush strokes as badly.
  9. Pam could probably answer in more depth than I can after she gets back tomorrow, but... (the lekku molds start out as a sculpture in oil clay with an ultra-cal hard shell.) You can make plaster molds over the top of the oil clay. You'll want to coat the exposed plaster portions of your base with a heavy coat of vaseline to keep it from adhering together. You will want to seal the clay with Krylon Crystal Clear spray. (to reuse the clay after this, you will have to scrape down the top layer) Mold release.. with a rigid mold, you'll absolutely need one. To avoid brush strokes in your final project, use a very soft brush. Mold walls and barriers you'll make out of clay to 1. make an exterior barrior for the mold. and 2. divide the mold into seperate parts. (if you don't make a multiple part mold with a rigid one, you're not going to be able to get your finished armor part out without shattering the mold) What material do you plan on on making your final armor plates in? In many ways, that should determine what kind of mold you'll want to make... THe benefits of a silicon mold for armor plate projects (where you're not looking for a cosmetic appearance back side) is that you won't have any seam lines anywhere. (of course, you'll still want to back the rubber mold with a rigid shell to maintain shape.) Additionally, you can successfully demold the original piece without damaging the clay. (Handy in case something happens and you end up needing a new mold) Downside: it's expensive, and does require a steeper learning curce than familiar plaster. Benefits of a plaster mold. It's faster, and cheaper. But, you probably have a 90% or more chance of damaging the original sculpture while demolding.
  10. Eh, the mandolorian symbol on the back of the miniatures card means they've assigned her to the "Fringe" as opposed to one of the good guy sides or the bad guy sides. Neutral....that'll help figure out where she belongs
  11. Came across some more Force Unleashed merchandise yesterday. The Unleashed battle packs have come out, including one that has Maris Brood in it. On the back of the package it gives a little bit of story, including a notation that Maris Brood is a fallen Jedi whom the Secret Apprentice is helping to find redemption. So...in the end, where she falls (good or evil) is still up in the air... (it also had another notation about Juno Eclipse being a Rebel Spy.)
  12. If only Force Unleashed hadn't been pushed back....we'd know info by now. Probably a couple months away from any real info about the character (at least info with a proven reliable source) from the photo though....she does look to have Sithy eyes....
  13. Atris was going to turn into Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty? Well that changes everything! I like the Atris character, she has a nice level of character depth given the short time she actually appears, but she's just not a villan to my eye.
  14. Evil? I'm in the process of finishing another run through KOTOR2 and I have yet to actually find anything that Atris does that really would make her evil in any way. Closest thing I've found so far would be when she attacks the Handmaiden on the return to Telos. (which is actually where I'm at in teh game right now.) Just because Atris studied the sith holocrons doesn't make her sith. (You can study physics, but it doesn't make you a physicist, same thing.) Whether or not Kreia is insinuating that Atris is supposed to be the "new" Darth Traya, doesn't make her a sith either. Atris' actions, while definately somewhat misguided, are for the largest part beneficial instead of harmful. During a point when Jedi are being hunted down and slaughtered, she gathers and protects Jedi artifacts and founds a new training academy on Telos. So, basically, as interesting as I find the character to be, I don't think Atris belongs in the 501st.
  15. Nope, sorry. You'll also note the total lack of the Star Wars logo anywhere as a good hint that it's a fake. I copied the image of the back of the card from the auction and circled the "Cool Customs by Bob" part too.
  16. Nah, that's a custom figure. (the picture of the back of the card says "Cool Customs by Bob" and gives a web url that I can't make out.) Looks like its a repainted Slave Leia with some hair added on.
  17. I've read about folks doing the straws in the nose thing, but honestly, it seems to me that you'd just be inviting sneezes that way. The straws wouldn't be steady and would rub and irritate the inside of your nose. But, even if that wouldn't make you sneeze, you can get really close to the nostrils without worrying about blocking the airway. As long as your plasterer is careful, they can actually cover everything but the nostril holes themselves. (Straws would also get in the way of getting a good casting around your nose and upper lip.)
  18. Yay, a question I can answer! As long as the person putting the bandages on doesn't cover your nostrils, it's a piece of cake to breathe. You do have to make sure to stay calm and breathe through your nose, but there's no problems. I think start to finish, it took about 2 hours to do my head cast, with probably about half an hour or so of drying time for the back half before we started putting on the front.
