I went with a zentai mask. (don't do that google search at work.) The only trick is finding one without a seam right across your face.

For the quantity of silk, just going for rough estimates here. For mine we used roughly: 4 yards for the tunics. 3 yards for the inner skirt 2 yards for the outer skirt About half a yard for the Obi and about 7 yards total for the capes and hood. I think an arguement could be made for the specific members of Havoc Squad who did defect to the Imperial side to be done for the 501st, but that would be just the 4 (or 5, it's been too long since I've played to remember exactly) named face characters who defected. The Havoc squad guys in the trailers on the other hand, didnt' defect and remain with the Republic, just like the player character and NPCs that are added to Havoc Squad as you play TOR.

Yes, the cape on this version attaches to the tunic along the front line of the shoulders.

Only really seeing 2 things right now. 1. The gloves look to be too long to me. Should be about midway up your forearm instead of all the way to your elbow. 2. The "horns" or "crown" isn't correctly shaped at present. They're uneven and not tight enough, check out the game image and the way the fabric is rendered to have the bends and creases around the front of the horn area.

Unfortunately I don't really have good news for you. It looks like your costume is currently a hybrid between the COTF and KOTOR2 versions. The KOTOR2 version looks like the version you were aiming for, so I'll advise in that direction. The upper body should look to be padded out to achieve the look of the game rendors. The upper body tunic doesn't have the cross over, it's pretty much just a straight top, with a neckline a lot more like a t-shirt. From the pics provided so far, that's where I would start. More pics showing details of the costume like the mask and the shoulders where the cape attaches, etc... would help.

I keep laughing when I look at the picture. Because you've got the horn shape and capes looking great, but Nihilus looks strange in white.

Looks good, I'd say that your suit should be approveable as it sits right now. Some advice I'd pass on, not mandatory changes, but to really knock this suit out of the park. Give the belt another coat of black dye, it's just a bit brown (could just be the lighting in the pics.) Tug the belt down a little bit lower on you See if you can't get the mask to sit a little bit further back or the horns to sit just a bit further forward in relation to each other. Practice a menacing pose.

I found Death Troopers disappointing. The only thing that made it a Star Wars novel was that they shoe horned Han and Chewie into it, otherwise it was just generic space horror. Except it wasn't a good horror story either, in my opinion. THe Fate of the Jedi books, I'd rate as worth reading. The later books are better than the early ones in the series. Republic Commando books were very good and did a great job of getting me interested and invested in the characters. the two The Old Republic books were well written. My all times favorite SW books though are the X-Wing series, both the Rogue and Wraith Squadron cycles.

Since the size is based on what size strap runs through the back ring on those, I'd say you probably want the 5/8 size, the others would probably be really big.

Looking good, I think you're going to need to add maybe an inch or two of padding to the hood to get your mask up high enough to line up right on your face. (Nose in the nose hole, mandible at the upper lip) I love seeing somebody making this costume themselves for themselves from the ground up.

I think you're very close on the horns. As Katie said, they need to be rounded off a little, they are too pointy right now, and should really be moved lower relative to your head. They should be almost straight across from the decoration piece at the top of the mask, just maybe a fingers width higher.

It's pretty doubtful that that hood will work. They're just too loose around the face to fit well under the mask. You're really going to want to find yourself a high quality spandex blackout mask as opposed to a halloween costume piece.

Careful Thomas, you know you can't trust them there Sith Twi'leks, stab you in the gut every time! Hmm....in all the times I've worn Nihilus to events, I can pretty safely say that I've never been misidentified. Had plenty of "I recognize your character, it's from a game right?" But never been called by a different characters name. On the obverse, I've watched as TIE pilots are identified as Vader, Tuskens as mummies, TKs as transformers or power rangers, etc. The simple facts are, folks know the characters that they want to know. There are Star Wars fans who know every character from every source ever, fans who only know the original trilogy, even some who only know the prequels, etc... (For example, I could tell you about game characters, comic characters, or movie characters, but you wanna know about Clone Wars characters, and I'll shrug and tell you that I don't know that grouping.) To your last question. Nobody really draws attention like Vader or Fett, but the only costumes I've ever seen not really get a lot of attention at events consistently have been the troopers and officers. Look at it this way, folks may always want to get that picture with Vader, but they're going to want to talk to Darth Nihilus.

Okee doke, with those shots, some additional feedback is possible. The tunics are wrapped way too tightly still. Loosen them up, they should cross lower down on the body for the right look. More weathering. Sleeves, unfortunately those aren't going to work. You're looking for a quilted look similar to how Vader's undersuit looks.

Cruising through from head to toe. Well, shoulder to toe. You're correct, the mask won't pass, and while the already given advice is 100% correct, the way everything fits together may change some with a new mask. As has been mentioned, the knot should not have any ends loose. You can tuck them back into the knot more than likely and be good there. Also, remember that the knot should rest down further on your chest, in your pics it looks like the cape has slid backward and is choking you. A tab of velcro on your shoulders and on the inside of the cape really helps keep it in place. To help the stiching in the sleeves stand out more, take some white chalk and rub it into the seams. THen brush most of it back off. It really helps make them stand out better. In your pictures we can not confirm that you have the correct number of tunic layers, because they're pulled too far closed. They should be more open so that the layers are visible. The tunics are also hanging down an awful long way below the obi-belt. The obi is too wide right now, but I think you can fix that by just rolling the edges underneath the obi. For a 2 inch belt, it really should be about a 4 inch wide obi. Can't see the multiple layers of the skits (it's hard to photograph that so that they are visible.) And, weathering....you need a lot more of it. Really shred up the ends of the tunics, skirt, and cape. Gloves look good, belt looks good. Please hit the molded black undermask with some dulling spray or semi-gloss black. They're an interesting effect, but always look too plasticy.

Yep, Katie nailed it. We put up an official Flagship Eclipse Facebook page last year as much to make sure that no third party group decided to do so as to make any real use of it. Costuming questions and development need to be on the forums and not on Facebook.

I'd love to see some additional photos of the crown piece. One from straight on looking at the face, one looking at it directly from the side , and one looking straight down at it from above. From the current photo angles, it's hard to tell for sure, but I think there may be some adjustments needed

Oops, I missed replying to this one. The mask is an interesting take on Nihilus, but as Atavistic said, it's not the right shape for a Nihilus mask. I'd have to agree and say that no, it wouldn't be approvable as is.

Other potential tools are: Cheese graters, wood rasps, rocks, a belt sander, etc. Just about anything you can think of to beat up your costume (except maybe fire....that might not be a good idea.)
