the 501st CRL states that heavy padding or armor hidden under the outer tunic may be used i would like to use the armor to be different who could point me in the right direction

A lot of people use a TK chest plate. You could check out the FISD forums to see if anyone has an old TK chest plate kicking around that they are willing to part with.

I did use a vader mantle a guy from my garrison had laying around, I just trimmed the shouldars down a bit and put foam underneath it.

Far as TK Chest plates if you know anyone with a armoy (that is a 501st Armory) around you can probably get them to make one, I know ours has one with enough patterns to make nearly a full suit of TK armor so I'd ask your local Garrison about it and see if they know anyone with a vacuum former.

I use that and used foam you can get from any crafts store to give the bulky chest, bad part is it tends to make your back tight after a few hours of use.
