  1. I made a Nihilus loop a while back let me see if I can find it.
  2. There is one Lumiya currently approved in the 501st. A couple ladies have made the costume. The CRL isn't finished but it does exist so that makes for a slightly different scenario than if not: http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:SL_Lumiya The rest is true, lots of research, gather all your references and make it the best you can.
  3. Ladyb has made the Jedi version. She made the pattern from scratch. As Thomas said, layering is important to getting a good look for this costume.
  4. So far as I know Darth Krayt has always beeing tied to TFE. http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:SL-Krayt I don't think anyone has fully completed the costume yet.
  5. She does use it. In the episode where she trains Savage Oppress. I believe it is flexible but would have to watch the episode again. She removes several Nightbrothers with it.
  6. He is still there under Flagship: http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:DZ_asharad_hett
  7. I think what was being described is just not a high heel, something thick enough that you can do darkside stuff in and not kill yourself. LadyB's is definitely on the larger side, a smaller one is perfectly fine. If it is around what is had here you should be good:
  8. A well constructed flail matching what she used on the Nightbrothers would be a fine accessory to have. If you make a nice one, we'd be happy to add it to the CRL. A: Not too many have done this one (LadyB is one). She had a swimsuit with the mini-dress connected to it, with white leggings with the grey ones attached and over the top. The dress snaps to the white of the legs. B: It can be tricky. We used some neoprene from a wet suit to give it structure, a bit on either side sewed in the middle. The opening has a wire to keep its shape. C. Sounds fair. LadyB often has shorter hair and or cuts it off. So long as there isn't a large bump on the neck your plan sounds fine. Best of luck with it. Be careful about the shape of the bottom of the mini-dress. It is straight across the back and has a point on both legs in front (I have screen caps if that helps). Getting that to sit right in front is key . Also we have a template for the shin armour if interested (I think there is a link in LadyB's build thread but I can find it if not (edit linked here as well: http://mcapell3d.com/img/nsav_shinguards.pdf ).
  9. I would think a row of good sized neodymium magnets would be the way to go if you want them to magically stay on the buckle. If the buckle is a magnetic metal and there is a row of neodymium magnets on the hilt it would probably work fine. You'd want to be careful and keep your phone, credit cards and other things away from it though for sure.
  10. The collar is perfectly fine either over the shoulders on not, many references for both. She's seen with no less than 3 different configurations of belts (some of which are noted in the CRL). The arms should have a division on them. As you note there are many varieties of how colorists painted that. I'd be happy to see what your planning. I am not a GML (and Garrison Membership Liaisons can approve this costume without consultation), but if a properly sourced version comes before me as LMO I'm happy to approve. A new crl isn't needed here, though some refinements could be considered to the existing one. They'll need to be voted on by the detachment. I'd be happy to work with you if you wanted to look into that. Thanks,
  11. Hi jj49. The concept version of Asajj Ventress comes from a multitude of sources and references including some of those you an Thomas have noted. In Black horse I'm guessing you're referring to the many Dark Horse comics right? There are many variations. She wore two distinctly different styles of belt at different points, one with an obi. The smaller belts vary a lot. The colour of the under layer on the torso and under arms varies from middle to dark grey and black on the SS. She wears at least two maybe three different skirt configurations. The Sideshow is a great reference. She is seen in the comic with the higher neck and shoulder piece too (in addition to the one that goes over the shoulder) The belt is a goodly pattern. Brita (the model) has since remade her belt in leather to match that one. I wouldn't use the SS in exclusivity, but it is a good source to draw from.
  12. Good to see it in progress. Curious could we move this to the Asajj Section? Also have you tried using the template for the triangles?
  13. Sounds good. Do tell if we can help further and best of luck with it.
  14. I am happy to help. There are many routes to take on makeup, what my wife Brita has stayed with in the end was a combination of two Ben Nye cake solids, Geisha and Porcelain applied with water and a natural sponge. She's found this avoids the clown look and layering or the two colours with the sponge makes it look/feel more like skin. For the Triangles we make a temple printed on card stock that we cut out and then hold tight on the zygomatic and template and paint on with a black grease make-up (we've done both Ben Nye and graftobian) The template we freely share. www.mcapell3d.com/images/AsajjTats.pdf Be careful on placement for symmetry and good angles, following the zygomatic arch and be sure to set it when done. Her build thread is here: http://www.theflagshipeclipse.com/forums/index.php?/topic/210-help-on-new-ventress/ As to a cap she can share some tips, but as has been noted we had horrific trouble right before a Cancer walk on hr 4th troop and she opted to remove and donate her hair. Let me see if she can remember best practices.
  15. Excellent, Continue to share your progress. It is always nice to see more characters from the SW: Republic comics come to life.
  16. Very nice. There are Imperial Knights of all kinds and sizes. The body suit, like Vader's is hot to one degree or another. Both characters are approved and viable in the 501st. The Clone Emperor Skullflare
  17. Welcome Brandon. It was good to meet you at the school and I'm glad you made it over here. If I can help do tell.
  18. Kylo is in the SLD because he was welcomed there, with other movie Dark-Siders. Costumes find a home where they will have support and people to look after CRL's help and aid those working on them. Kylo found a home with the SLD and has been well cared for there. There are many knights of Ren seen in the movie. If they opted there could certainly be a new detachment founded.
  19. Agreed, don't be discouraged, do the research and make something great. While 3 images is helpful, it isn't the rule. Information regarding new approvals can be found here: http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:CharacterApproval Specifically: The key is having a view of all the front and back, not three examples. Do tell if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help.
  20. The variation to sabers and tattoos are fine. The CRL is LadyB. The sabers and tattoos matched what Asajj was at the time. We know the fellow making your sabers. If you want to do the squarish ones that is fine. If you want to match some of the original reference that is fine too. The neck piece was bigger/smaller every time she appeared. Sometimes it matched this, others it went over the shoulder. Take care if using leather, it will be very restrictive. Something soft/flexible would be best. The colour scheme is grey and black. Lighting on the 3d model shouldn't be taken into consideration. If you wanted the darker grey to be a touch warm that is fine, but it is not brown/beige,
  21. Awesome, I'm glad you were able to get it to have the movement desired from the observations in the animation.
  22. For sharing images click the picture icon between the chain (for links) and Strike-through S. Paste in the address in that dialog and then preview/post. There are many images/sources for this version of Ventress from the concept art, to the Sideshow Premium Format figure with a multitude of comic reference from Dark Horse to draw from. The detail you posted about with the belt is used in many of the varieties of this Asajj. It is a leather piece. Note in the concept sketch that the side and front view don't match, they are just early preliminary explorations. LadyB will have some suggestion. Be sure and have a good look at the sideshow and Dark Horse images though. The side view of the concept art is much like her "Obi" version found when she dueled Anakin and gave him his scar. There were many other sketches that lead to her armoured costume, Luminara and Barris, some nightsister and other characters from the Episode 2 concepts. Unfortunately it can be a little difficult to cipher between official reference and fan art as she has been a very popular subject for fan art. The above are all official comics etc.
