  1. I have seen peope build some pretty damn impressive stuff in foam armor, and it looks good, not just like foam glues together, it looks like the real thing... So the questuion is would high quality foam Sith Acolyte armor be viable, assuimg it looks like the real thing?
  2. Well talked to Mynock and while his kit is amazing it is to far out of my price range... I have a few other leads but is anyone else offering Sith Acolyte Kits? I am talking ti KW and I have a maessage out to stony props... Hoping I can find a kit with in my price range.
  3. Two quick questuions... Is the Mynock Sith Acolyte armor accurate for 501st approval? And Does Mynock even offers kits for sale?

    SCC PGH

    So this happened
  5. Soo... does the inner tunic havr to be the same material as the outer tunic and the cowl/cape? I'm not sure Gabradine would achieve the fitted look properly
  6. Ears are sewen in... Going to tackle the front drape next try to get the curve just right.
  7. Well it's coming along, working out the ears now... Trouble is finding time to work on it, between school and everything else... I think we have enough fabric if not I have allot left over from what we cut off that can be added in if need be... Yea going to keep my cape and cowl seperate. My COTF Nihilus has a short cape hanging down from the cowl with a long cape over that, seems to look bets and no extra weight. Once the ears are done I will deal with the front drape... ; / Going to be busy this weekend with an Upcoming con but I will attempt to get some progress pics.
  8. this cowl is going to break me... Just can't get the drape on the chest to work out right
  9. Some cowl progress... Still debating how to curve the piece under the chin... But I believe the top and sides are coming along. I need some tips on the back however, how far shoud it hang down? I would think you can hide alot under the cape... Thinking it may looks better hanging down to hide in the cape.
  10. yea, when I built my COTF Nihilus that part was a nightmare, eventually just attached some cones to a ushanka... I need to figure out the front now where it lies on the chest and figure out the back and sides
  11. Some cowl progress..
  12. OK, working out my KOTOR Nihilus cowl... Obviously this just a mock up but I am working to figure out the under structure, I want to pick up some gabradine and start building it, but I need to figure out how I will achieve the flatish look and points... This is what I have thus far, Once I have the cloth and the wife is home, I will pin everything down and get more pics...
  13. Mya have to go with the Ushanka hat like I did on my COTF Nihilus to get the flat look to the head.
  14. ahh sweet these should help, thanx. going to build the cowl first and see how that turns out.

    PGH Visas Marr

I will show thios to the ife and see what we can do... Easy enough to seem rip the veil and re-do it... At least we won't have to redo the gold trim. I figure we have some time on our hands still we cna tsart the rest so may as well fight the veil.

    PGH Visas Marr

So I'm not entirely sure what the status of this will be... My wife is finnaly building a Visas Marr to pair with my Nihilus, but some plans are in motion which may interefer with the build and require bringing the whole thing in... At any rate figure I'd post a little progress... Thus far we have been cencentrating on tackling the veil... It's tricky she is happy with it, for my part I'm not sure.... Thw top seem bugs me. Anyway here it is.
  17. I have been contemplating building a KOTOR Nihilus once I finish my other projects, but I have run into a distinct lack of Ref pics... I cannot verify anything on google as being official so I was wondering if anyone had access to some good ref pics.

    My apprentice

Well the fabric is sheer enough to see out, but still thick enough no one can see in... It was a good find... And I get to be the dress maker dummy... ; /
  19. It's not hard, of course I have my wife to help out. In fact the hair is what inspired me to build A'Sharad. Thanx, always happy to share. Incidentally when I built A'Sharad I also made an OT tusken as well, just used the same helmet and boots... Well A'Sharad has a some screen time in the Clone Wars series, a few scenes in the Legacy reflect back to his experiences during the clone wars and some interactions with Anakin. If you want to know about his early life, Outlander which I have to find is about A'Sharad and his Father, and explains how A'Sharad came to be a Jedi.
  20. That is real hair, just a small hole if the back of the cap... A fake braid could be managed in the same way, and still be removable, a small hole with the braid secured inside the helmet, when you go tusken just pull it out... As for hearing as a tusken, your kinda boned, could put ear holes, I've seen people do that... For ventilation, I put a small fan in the mouth, of the mask. My build is a soft cap with a removable face. I've seen people put fans in the top of some hard tusken helmets, not sure how that would work.
  21. It's starting to come together, luckily the armorer can take on the project, as to color... Comparing the bracers, knees, and what we can see of the boots, to Talon's bra, the shading looks similar... So I'm thinking those parts are black. The pants, skirt, loin cloth, arm wraps are shaded differently so I do believe they are a brown, not as dark as the A'Sharad pants but some kind of brown.
  22. Found an armorer! So in a week or two I will finalize the order and have my Darth Krayt armor made, once that is done, the rest of the costume will be easy... Saber is taken care of, and I already have my "Hett" sabers.
  23. An armorer came back with the following... Assuming the armor as seen in the comic would not stand up to a real world construction, how much wiggle room is there in a situation like this? "On 02/12/14, Battle Ready Ltd wrote: Dear Shawn Thank you for your email. We understand that the attendees to 501st events wear costume that is a close replica to that worn on screen. Having taken a good look at the images from comics that you've sent, it wouldn't be possible to create armour that is identical to that pictured. As it's a fantasy image, the construction wouldn't stand in real life. We would have to make large adjustments for wearability and body shape, so it would be our artistic interpretation instead. If you're still interested, send us your height, chest and abdomen measurements and we can provide a quote.
