Everything posted by ladyb

  1. Here is another I saw posted by a fellow in our garrison working on a Red- TK (magma trooper?) Though I'm not sure about its origins.
  2. AS they vary the specif number of lines probably isn't as big a deal so long as it matches some of the reference. I agree with Sakara that it would probably work best to attach the neck piece to the shirt. I could never get mine to sit right until I did that with mine.

    Boots

Which reference are you going from, the doll or something else?
  4. Wow, that looks great Pam. What was this for?

    Asajj's Cloak

Well there are a couple from events on my myspace, which is set to be somewhat private. I don't have another gallery of sorts online no.
  6. Thanks Pam, I'll definitely have a look over there. Michael always thought this would be a nice costume for me to do.

    Asajj's Cloak

Mine is Fleece with a satin trim, but it is a little heavy and warm (which I'm quite fond of when it is colder), but good to leave off when warmer/summer etc.
  8. Happy we could help. My husband made a template to cut out for the tattoos as well if that would help. Tattoo Link
  9. We sewed it to the shirt too. The neck armour was indeed the trickiest part of the costume.

    Asajj-To-Be

After trying some other things and some suggestions from Pam I went the same route with a small zipper on the back middle. It looks good and doesn't come apart.
  11. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! j/k Excited to see pictures.
  12. It is looking nice, the neck/shoulder armour is better sized now. I like the gauntlets they look really good. Two suggestions. 1. The shirt seems a little large, as the standards say to be fitted. You might bring in the arms some and for the middle part you could try what I did with elastic clips to keep it in place documented in my thread: http://www.theflagshipeclipse.com/forum ... 88&start=0 2. On the buckle, you'd probably want to check with Thomas for specifics on that. It seems a little small, but might be alright. What kind of boots do you have? I can't really see them in the pictures. Happy to help if I can. Good luck with it.

    Asajj's Cloak

The standards have this: Mine is black.

    Asajj-To-Be

Yes there are a couple detail that are unique to that sketch. For the skirt I found a black pleated skirt that was reasonably light weight and essentially floor length as Thomas had suggested, and I think it looks quite nice. I went with the AOTC Concept Version of Asajj Ventress version of her. As for the Obi the image you posted is one of the only times she's shown with it. We opted to go with the comic design without it, but it is a nice detail, we just liked this look a little better: The crossing part of the belt isn't quite the right shape the way I have it now and we're making a new one to fit that design more closely.

    Asajj-To-Be

Aside from the obi behind the belt I used the top sketch as reference for a lot of my Asajj costume. I'd be happy to help if I can, I'm actually in the RL as Ilum Padme too. My husband likes to say it is about the only Padme you can do bald, but the balaclava hides that well.

    Belt Buckles

We used a ring from a washcloth holder from Walmart, a shower fitting for the inside detail, and a ring from a saddle harness (to support the fitting and for the cross bar) that my husband tooled to wrap the one side of the belt around.
  17. Thanks Pam, it looks good and is nicely informative. It will be nice to have some more options for the featured, though the six that are there are nice (yes, biased, guilty as charged).
  18. I like Asajj better, but this one is certainly easier to get into.
  19. Yes, like piping. I did try some fish tank piping in one try but it was a little too stiff and bulky, so I went with the shoelace that my husband suggested. I didn't use a pattern for the shirt, just made it as I went but might be able to put something together if I have it. I'll need to check and see if we kept what I went from. I found a small fitted sweater and cut the shape of the lighter material out of it and then made those sections from what I did with the sweater.
  20. I think I've seen them in all the photos but they're so light and small that they aren't seen. You're welcome to use my template if you like, this can be printed and then cut out of a sheet of plastic like from some packaging or whatnot. With some good theatrical black make-up applied with a makeup wedge it works well. http://www.mcapell3d.com/images/AsajjTats.pdf After testing and trying several things what we opted for was to pull a little of the fabric together and run a thick round shoelace through it. I used a similar technique for the edges of the shirt on the front and arms to make the rim of the armour. Yes, the belt should be like that reference is, in black. Yes, the vambraces on that doll, like the boots, were design elements not seen anywhere else. We liked the look of the ones from the comic that Pam also has in the standards, but with that as a reference source they may be OK with Thomas, you'd need to check with him though. Not sure. That is what I would try, but I would definitely test it out on a scrap of both the white and the dark fabric to see how it will affect it and get the timing down precisely. Good luck with things. Happy baldcapping.
  21. What Thomas said It looks like Garrison Membership Liaison – Bradley Bristow Stagg gml [at] 501tag [dot] com is the person to contact directly based on the site. Do post some pictures.
  22. Looks good from what I can see, can the sabers be joined as she often does?
  23. My husband has gotten his Dooku together and we got some pictures last week. This one with the tweaking done by Mark Haskell of the SLD.
  24. Could be, the one I have is latex, and I had Shawn's (SL_6942) expert help to airbrush on a nice skin-like surface. Keeping all that in mind I did shave after a makeup catastrophe as not to have to cancel for a Relay for life I was headlining so I haven't worn the cap for a few events.
