  1. Yard Sale!!!!!!!!!! (never mind too cold for one of those brrr)
  2. Great pictures, looking good. Congratulations.
  3. Yes, they are on that lone cover, but it is an outlier...no other published reference (I'm aware of) suggests that design and there is a story talking about the 12 tattoos and the reason she has them. The illustrator for that cover just took some liberties, it happened in a couple other places, especially when she was a new character there are some single odd variations but the mass of other references have a various of the 12, 4 above each ear pointing down, and two of each cheek, in one way or another. Excited to see you finished sabers as well. It will be nice to see when you've painted them and added the ultra sabers components.
  4. Looks good, glad you made it work, great job on the cap with that much hair. One thing you might want to look at is this version usually has 4 triangle tattoos above the ear pointing down to it on each side. My husband made a template for it if you'd like to use it. Click Here
  5. kathgruben could probably give you the best advice because she does a cap and has long hair. I would think you could make a ponytail or braid and run it down the back being hidden under the collar. Alas I am not the best source for this part of the costume as I choose the quick and "easy" path for that:
  6. Fun, I just bought a tight shirt at a thrift sore, had my husband layer the duck tape, and cut a slit to slip it off and then repaired it and fulled it with batting and put it on a stand. It has been great since then for costumes, much easier to make adjustments and precision detailing. Do tell if you have any trouble happy to help.

Yes, they have two different Maul tutorials over there. I believe the one done by Shawn Gordon he worked from a cast of his head to make the templates with a vaccu-form or similar method. http://www.501stsithlords.com/makeup.html I've wanted to do that with Asajj and Barriss, but as of yet have not made a casting of my head to work from.

    Hello from Denmark

Did you have a particular costume/costumes you wanted to start with? Happy to help if I can.
  9. I would think they would be here. The Sith Lord Detachment is primary full Sith Lords from the movies. It will be interesting to see how they fit into Season 3.
  10. The costume is gorgeous, especially the leather. It was a pleasure to troop with you at CV.
  11. thanks for all of you kind words and support. I was glad to get it together for CV. The Rebels, while curious about my costume, were rather accepting and supportive. "Asajj was a Padawan?" "yes" The skirt has too many seems, and I think a leather or lither-like materiel might be better. Hopefully season 3 of Clone Wars doesn't rewrite her history too much in telling her origins and I can make the fixes and perhaps troop in it more. Either way, now shipping:

    Maia's Lumiya build

Thanks for the detailed build thread. Agreed with Kath, it was lovely to see in person and meet you.
  13. Building up some skin tone make-up on the cap before you start the other would help, applied with a sponge to replicate the natural texture of the skin and then apply makeup to yourself and the cap together so it is smoother. I only used a cap a couple of times but this sort of technique worked well for me.
  14. Thanks. I think a candle will be good for getting some smoke into areas and stuff. OK so, I got in the inner tunic last night: As noted Michael did the belts a little while ago: and now I'm getting it all together, hemming and roughing up the skirt now.
  15. Thanks for the tips, I'm getting closer. Michael tried out some burning on a scrap piece: I've also got the upper arms wrap things together too: Michael got all the belt stuff riveted together last night, I'll probably have a full image of the suit tomorrow.
  16. In a flash photo it is shinny, but based on the reference I wanted something with a high specular (highlight) in low light, was going for more of a silk look as she was a Jedi at this point. Leather would be a good one for this too. Looking at the tears, how there seems to be raw fabric hanging out of them and the manner that it wrinkled I wanted to try this fabric out for it. 'll have Michael get some without flash today. BY the way, if anyone has any good ideas on how to skillfully make the rips and burns so it looks legit do tell, we appreciate any insight there. Its not nearly so shinny without flash. The stuff on the top of the mannequin's arms is regular duck tape and that won't be part of the costume, just part of our do-it-yourself mannequin. It is very shinny. The new wraps and finger wraps (also Flash, it was late last night, not much light)
  17. Its looking great, I like how the vest is coming together.
  18. Getting close on this, will be posting images in flurries. One thing I could use some help on, well Michael really; anyone have any ideas on how to form the upper portion of the saber (not the emitter but just below that). Was thinking maybe some leather wrapping, but unsure, not a lot there: visual space Next to it is a rough of the tunic/tabbards/obi and skirt on our homemade mannequin.
  19. Looking good. Have you tried any sort of bald cap yet?
  20. In the USA often the locality is designated in another place on the plate and the main section can be customized for an extra fee if it is not already taken.
  21. OK, looks like the Armored version is what you want then. Be sure and have a look at the standards for that one: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1222 The one from the cartoon is allowed with the more realistic details and is referred to as the Sash Belt Version. The standards for that one can be seen here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1221
  22. The top does seem like the Armour Version, and the doll is more along the lines of the Concept Version. So to help best, first the version of Asajj you want to complete would need to be decided. Concept: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1220 or Armour: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1222 I'm partial to the Concept version myself but that is another story altogether. Best of luck with it Sith Leim, let us know how we can help.
