  1. Thank you so much!!!! I assume this is a LONG process? Even IF that costume has no changes I assume its still weeks before a CRL is added?
  2. Oh my gosh I am so sorry for pretty much abandoning this board. I have had a LOT going on. I bought a home. It closed Escrow and I had to move all my stuff from one of my houses and into the new house. Out of 500 people I was chosen as on of the 40 to participate in the first ever Disney D23 Costume contest. My buddy Owen Lord and I took home Best in Show!! https://d23.com/a-la-mode-costume-conte ... announced/ Heres some shots Mary Franklin took of us when we were hanging out @ the Evolution of Vader Booth! She invited us to come up and hang out in the booth and pose for awhile! No one can ever say that Cosplayimg cant get you a Job.....I was offered my DREAM Job @ D23... I am still in shock. *sooo happy* Enough about me Heres the picture you guys were asking for!!
  3. Amazon! Should be here in the next few days $8.00 USD out the door! ..and I totally agree. More Starkiller love is..Love Bwahahaha! Oh I cant wait to see those concept pieces!
  4. Ok so here is what I did. I printed out a copy of the original belt the exact size it should be on a real life human. I inlayed the exact shapes into foam I covered the foam I hand painted the piece to look as much like the original as I could I then lacquered it to have a shiny appearance. I affixed the buckle to the belt =D Look a touch better?
  5. Drago, this is a volunteer organization and we all have lives! This is the best part. We aren't getting paid for this, this stuff is out of the kindness of our hearts! I understand some of you take on more than others. But frankly. LIFE HAPPENS =) haha yes! What is it about these folks and not caring what we look like?! I was talking to another member in my garrison and she says her husband just takes photos with parts literally falling off of her! Oi do they not know we will then have to RETAKE all of the photos and spend even MORE time doing it, than to have just DONE IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!!!! *pulls out hair * *rant over* I try and tell my hubby. But there is like 10 things to look for in every costume I do, he HATES taking photos of me! He gets all huffy puffy XD! Ill put on the costume when he gets home and get that photo for you! My hubby has dealt with this through 4 costumes now. He has been instructed how much it matters to the 501st that this costume looks PERFECT! He LOVES the 501st. But its like it flies over his head when it comes to taking the photos. I understand I have been looking at this costume for weeks now. But if he would just study the ref for 5 minutes i could easily avoid all of this!
  6. 100% agree 100% agree 100% agree. No I see exactly what you mean. Ill be driving the next city over to buy sintra tomorrow ! Can we discuss the center circle i feel like the entire center is not raised just the edges of it. Am i crazy? I dont know why but in all the ref i feel like i only see the outter edge beveled then the center appears to sink back down. Ps: i.will be printing out a copy of the belt. Layering it over the new version and comparing them side by side. Then we can ensure there are not issues. Thank you so much Jeff!!!
  7. Update: I should have The Art And the Making of Force Unleashed sometime this week. Whatever pictures are in it I will post them for you
  8. Does this look enough like metal?? =D and a side by side
  9. Yes sir just replied! So sorry I swear that "New PM" thing just.. I don't see it! I fail at responding! Yes yell at me on my boards to respond hehe. Tis the BEST idea Best way to get my attention! ^.^ ...and that brings me to a question. Costume judges DO read these boards right??? I sent my GML a link to this board, When they approved my Sith Robes it was not stated but I was lead to believe they read this board and had noticed my updates... But I just want to make sure. I can send in updated photos. But I do not want to if I do not need to bother them with that. It will undoubtedly be kicked back if these details are not dealt with and they do not see this board. You guys and your crits are the reason this costume will not fail. We all see something different. the collective of this board is amazing and without all of your help, I would not be able to succeed with any kind of efficiency BELT BUCKLE: I have primed and added a single coat of black/grey/flat paint to the belt buckle. Will detail it after 100% dry.
  10. Its so funny I was just thinking about you the other day and couldnt believe you hadent commented! Did you see the new images I took on page 4? (the one below for example is from yesterday) I was complaining because my husband is NOTORIOUS for not putting costumes on me correctly! Here are the updated images I took yesterday I put a line across to show where my armor ends where starkillers ends. Aside from my shoulder flopping on the side, which can just be pushed into position. It looks like its lining up to me? The original image of this is on the 1st page. I dont know why in this particular image his shoulder armor/bells are not extending?? Anyone know why that is? Do you think this is still to low? It can go up higher Lemmie know what you guys think! (or if this even was the area you are in fact addressing) I hate this that my husband just doesn't care how the costume sits on me. its a pain in the rear end to have to put this thing on because he could care less about how it looks! =) I will take ANY kind of crits! I ant it to be right! Dont worry I didnt go into this thinking it was going to be easy. =)
  11. Hey Alan! I used a Linen blend. I know your not in the states but I buy ALL my Starwars costuming materials @ Joannes. I know they are a touch higher priced that other stores, but they always have what I need in stock. Also when you get em on sale they are a steal! I am possibly ridiculous (Because I live in Sunny California where its 100+ degrees 8 mo out of the year). I go for a nice thick natural material. This particular one (to me) feels so soft and natural and nice tight weave while still being thick! Its a Sew Classics I THINK (not 100% sure) its this one http://www.joann.com/sew-classics-linen ... 0496123a/# I LOVE Linen but Joannes does not carry 100% BLACK Linen. Just White and off white :/ Or this costume would be 100% linen insted of 55% linen blend I really really like this material. It flows nicely (i think) id make full Jedi robes out of it and feel like I got something quality.
  12. Nopes! he is a "Sith Lord" by 501st standard definition My Starkiller is SL13377 I also have full access to the Sith Lord Detachment because I went with Starkiller (I only have a Starkiller Approved) Hope this helps! Gah..... you look so amazing... this costume is amazing... I wanna see a MAN in one of my "Starkillers"!! XD!
  13. NOOOO@@@@@@ Most of the Vader belt buckles have 4 openings!!! =[ Starkillers has 5. I have now covered the belt buckle in the first coat of glue. Lets see what happens when it dries and ill cast a bit more resin on the belt and sand.
  14. I absolutely agree. The look and feel of REAL metal is 100X better! Here is the issue. Its something thats been done. I shouldnt waste my time making it out of aluminum, it will not look as good and I am just going to spend HOURS doing it Time is money. I feel like with something SIMPLE like this I should just spend the $$$ and get it done right. *orders* Thank you so much! EDIT 1: Btw... I wanted to say something... Is it just me or should I paint this ENTIRE thing a shiny Dark Aluminum?? You know what.. I am going to go repaint it. See what happens. I am not happy with it as well. Like i stated about just ordering one. EDIT 2: I am sitting here thinking....you know...I have a RUBIES Vader BELT (came with the costume I just bought for the Battle Damage Vader) in my garage... I think ill go get it and spray it. I can just get a second one (in metal) for my hubbys costume if this looks good! It doesnt hurt to try?! Heres the Original and mine to show you what I mean about color. While its not as Dark as the Gauntlets Its PRETTY close
  15. Jeff and Blitz Heres an updated photo. I hate to say this about my hubby. But he doesn't really pay perfect attention to the way the things lay on my body. this I FEEL is A LOT closer than what I had before. What do you guys think? UPDATED NEW PHOTOS IN MY PHOTOSTREAM
  16. Yep its flopping down ! Ill put a piece of foam up behind it. Lets see what that does =) I am going to do some quick shots and see how much better it looks with it stiffer! Thank you!
  17. Thank you so much!! haha yeah I did that last night! I LOVE to just put em side by side for comparison. It sets in EXACTLY whats "wrong" and "right" about the costume Ill post the photos of the belt soon! *its drying* hehe
  18. Some quick side by side comps I worked up Starting on my Next costume in a few days! I cant decide on SWTOR Revan or Battle Damaged Vader I have ALL the supplies for both!
  19. 100% agree Jeff! I can do that raise really quickly, but also I was thinking about just saying forget it and just buying one of those LOVELY aluminum ones! They are inexpensive and beautiful! I think it would do the trick. I can just order one now Its so close to the Vader one. I feel its almost silly to make one. Ill throw the raise on tomorrow though! Ill post some pics
  20. Thank you so much you guys! I still haven't turned it in. So if you guys see ANYTHING off let me know. Of course I will link the judges to this post. So IF I make any changes I am sure they will be made aware of them. Id hope they check this page! haha
  21. Ok nervous here. About to turn in these pictures, unless you guys think anything is wrong. To nit pick myself. -I should move the vader box up a touch Its sits about an inch to low. Its still detachable so its a 2 second fix. -I HATE my vader box its ugly I am going to do one with real working lights. Its in the works -I am going to affix velcro to my Chest armor. to keep it down really good! Anyways, heres the slew of pictures Jeff thank you so much for your help. Your amazing. I am SO SORRY I poofed for So LONG! 2 Days before San Diego Comic Con we put in a bid on a home In San Diego Saturday @ Comiccon I found out we got the house We havent stopped scrambling to get paperwork and documents since finding out we got the house! Finally got a chance to get everything "done"!! I still feel like there is so much I can do to this costume (and will) I love the style.
  22. Also there are severe variances between Concept Art In-game Renders Cinematic Renders Sometimes its hard to decipher which one you should follow when making any Game related costume :/ For the most part the variances seen are due to In-game Lighting.. Whooo x.x When I was doing my Jedi Adventure Robes.. Oh my gosh Drama (hardest costume to date color wise for me).. Finding Renders that were In Game non cine that were rendered into the Engine of FU1 NOT FU2 Was the Devil! *rant over*
  23. I swear it becomes more and more apparent that I need to pick up the concept art book of this game so many of his costumes are confusing! XD I hope that you can find some. Have you tried just plain playing the game to this point? (I bought a new copy not to long ago for 4.50 on amazon) This isnt to far in right? This is how I got a lot of my stuff for my last 2 costumes. Also have you searched youtube for a HIGH REZ version of this video? This tactic for example is helping me SO MUCH with a Battle Damaged Vader I am going to be working on I am sorry I am of little to no help. I will try and seek some youtube vids. Sometimes seeing the costume in movement gives a better idea of how to make it
  24. Thank you Jeff! I agree! Despite it being even (width) across it. The hubby says that as he paints it on, it turns white and where you see the white on it its when its started to dry as he paints. I am gad we are getting practice on this thing! 5 coats down now btw! Ok I located a Plastic Spraypaint. Its black Gloss. I wonder how this will look. The sanding is even, It feels 100% hard as a rock on all parts *watches video again* I want to make sure this is right.
