  1. For the hood:

Yes! Exactly! I'm understanding it as describing the overlap of the draped parts you linked so that it does not end up looking like a black sheet ghost costume coming from your head!

I also just realized the image never posted, and my comment made no sense, so here it is!

    For the belt:

Great! Then it should be all set.

    For the hilt:

For events like that, I see no issue of a "ballpark" design for the hilt since the references are not exactly screaming with high quality details for acceptable options like the KOTOR II sabers. While not as terrible as the "vaguely metallic stick with glowy thing coming out of it" files of KOTOR, they are still not perfect.

  2. Based on the belt, I'm assuming this all to be for COTF edition.

    1. They never really show the boot details for him in any reference, so as long as you have embellishment-free black boots that reach to at least your mid to upper calf with a normal heel, they should work fine. Most Nihilus I know just use some variation of the jack boot for theirs that are shared with a handful of other costumes in the Legion.

    2. On the hood, I am going to go out on a limb and assume it means these parts here circled in red. It is to highlight the fact that even though it is all one part, there needs to be an obvious 'hood' shape that drapes over the cape so that you don't just have a straight piece of fabric going from the crown to the shoulders.

    3. Those look fine so long as they stay relatively close against your arm when they are on (no wing flares, no matter how fabulous Nihilus is!).

    4. Without seeing the belt on you and how it lays/is proportioned, what you have looks really good!

    5. The mask also seems to be really good and matches the higher crown that COTF has vs KOTOR II in the CRL as well as the more pronounced "duck-face selfie" cheekbones the COTF version has against KOTOR II.

    6. Maybe one of the Nihilus specialists can chime in here, but as far as the CRL states, any of the KOTOR II or COTF style hilts would work. The one in the link seems a bit too etched and beveled for the smooth casing that the body of the hilt shown in any of the reference images I'm finding.

  3. The sash itself is a fairly rich red, and it appears to have weathering or texturing that causes the mottled pattern. The Glitterbug Crushed Panne seems to create two different effects depending on the light, one being a very reflective surface, and one being more subdued, which actually matches the effect that the reference image shows pretty damn closely with the darker mottled areas. My only concern with this is that it is in the "really shiny" phase more, but maybe dirtying it up a bit will lessen that?

Without seeing the fabric hanging loose (which is always nice when you are trying to match drape and movement), The colors of both the first options seem to fall short of the vibrancy and richness of the red necessary, though the second one, just off glance, seems to have a good matching drape effect. the color of the crushed panne with the fluidity of the biking red jet set. You don't want to start too dark with the fabric, but rather chose a richer red (like the reds seen in the background of the first two, but in matching knit style) and then distressing and weathering them to get the darker mottled contrast will get you a closer resemblance.

  4. Were you just approved with a costume that is eligible for the Flagship Eclipse Detachment? Congrats! Now, have you applied to the Flagship Eclipse Detachment on the 501st forums? You are not automatically made a member of TFE with approval of a TFE-eligible costume, but that is easily fixed!

Once you have a registered account here on the TFE forums, you can request Detachment Access by following this link to the 501st and Detachment Access Request page http://www.theflagshipeclipse.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1660-501st-andor-detachment-access-requests/

Follow the directions for your request, and you'll have access to a whole new world of information and Detachment-exclusive areas.

If you want to be eligible to vote in any Detachment-specific stuff on the 501st forums (elections, voting, etc), go to 501st.com/forum and after logging in, click on the Membership DB on the left hand menu, click on YOUR PROFILE DATA, and scroll down to the bottom until you get to Your Unit Affiliation. From here, you can apply to TFE along with any other Detachments you have an approved costume for.

  5. I'd LOVE to help! I have an approved TIE Training gear costume & I'm working on an Arena gear costume from TFU2. I can get you updated pics tomorrow (well today)

You are listed as a Forum Member, have you applied for TFE on the Legion page? 6. Here are what we are considering for the boots.

I really like the 1st image above (the second in your post) for the fact that they appear fairly smooth all over the boot with a straight cut top, and already have the black sole, though the sole does look a bit chunky in the arch area compared to the reference image. The second image (4th in your post) are also very nice and will offer a similar smoothness with appropriate chunkiness of the arch area of the sole. They will require removal of the straps, but that seems like minimal work, as well as maybe straightening the upper edge of the boot so it cuts directly across instead of curving to a rounded peak.

I am not very versed in fabrics, but the "feel" from the reference comes off as either a heavy knit yet soft jersey in a deep red similar to this https://www.fabric.com/buy/0347280/stretch-jersey-ity-knit-red. There is definitely a slight stretchy drape with a structural heft to it, if that makes any sense with a softness and eggshell finish that cotton jersey would give to match the rest of the outfit.

  8. I loves me some Lethan Twi'leks! On the topic of the original post, if you can find a 360 degree OFFICIAL set of references (sketches or designs from the creators of the character, concept designs, figures, busts, statues, comics, etc) then there shouldn't be much issue with approval so long as the character falls under the concept of what TFE fits for dark side users, Legend denizens of the antagonistic influence, etc.

  9. I'm planning on getting a sub thread made for this after the 1st to keep everything organized, but nothing yet as of now. I was even looking into the possibility of getting a patch makde to be distributed at Celebration and such, but that will depend on time frame for the patch company and designing. Maybe at least a decal.
