Well ive found lots of pictures of it being worn, for the soft parts I was looking to see how the pieces are assembled, for example how the cape is pleated at the top (the part under the capelet) and how/ where the clasps are attached. I'm trying to get enough information like this for all the soft parts so when I get with the person who will be doing the sewing they will be able to understand what I need. The skirt seems pretty straight forward but the cape and capelet/hood I'm having difficulty getting it in my head what the areas hidden in the CRL are supposed to be formed like in order to get the visible areas to gather like they do. For the armor pieces I am planning to create a body mold and use some autobody experience to sculpt it in fiberglass.

Never received a notification for this one, but the shoulder area under the hood is actually NOT pleated. It is gathered in sections.

  2. Minis like that are no longer being accepted for references because they just lack too much detail. For a SWTOR character I am building, I literally recorded a fight scene with the character and played it back at .25x speed to get all the angles for reference.

  3. Honestly, sometimes it makes sense why some costumes are where they are currently, and sometimes it's like they played a game of pin the costume in the detachment.

(I say this as we are going through approval for Mandalore the Ultimate in TFE)

It just comes down to who would best supply the knowledge and expertise coinciding with the costume in build and organization. In this case, I would probably say IOC, but the difference in the uniform may prove otherwise. Who really knows at this point?

Regardless, you're more than welcome to have build stuff here for it no matter where the costume ends up. Just make sure you can find full 360 degree references (need FULL details for back, front, and both sides).

Unfortunately we are dealing with some bad news tonight.

Originally we ordered a Seventh Sister armor kit from JawaChopShop. We had contacted him before ordering and asked what turn-around time was for the kit. We just wanted an idea of how long of a wait there was going to be so we could plan out a time frame to the costume.  JawaChopShop respond that his normal turn around was one week from payment. Then he even sent Anthony a photo alluding to having a kit ready to go. Payment was made on April 4th. We contacted JawaChopShop the next day to confirm he had received the payment. He said he had and would be boxing the kit up that day. We then waited another week and contacted them to see if he happen to have a tracking number. He ignored messages for three more days before saying he would message his wife and get the tracking number from her. Again we waited several days and tried contacting him for a tracking number. Again he ignored messages for several days before saying he couldn't believe it hadn't arrived yet. Once again we asked for a tracking number or even a method of shipment to try and confirm a package was on it's way. He has since stopped responding to all messages and we are going to be forced to file a dispute with PayPal to get our money back. This sucks.

How is this going? Hate to hear when this sort of thing happens to folks.

The belt buckle I can do, but the shirt... I am on a very strict budget (and my boss is threatening to fire me so tomorrow I turn in my 2-week notice so no termination is on my record T-T due to my ongoing health issues) the shirt is almost entirely from secondhand shop finds and totally entirely stitched by hand. Is there *ANY* way possible to salvage it without starting over? I studied a bunch of movie stills and Clone Wars shots and tried to get it as close as I could. And as for the belt buckle, is scrap wood okay? Also for budget reasons. I know they said this was “an expensive hobby” (referring to 501st) when I got into it but I’m just so passionate about charity and Star Wars, I really want to make it work...

I am going to play devil's advocate here a bit.

On one side, I have seen some amazing things come from second-hand alterations. That being said, they were made exactly to the references, and being that I am not a seamstress in any fashion whatsoever (seriously, I'm terrible at it), I can't say how easy it would be to alter the existing stuff to match the references.

Materials aren't an issue, but you need to make then look like the references, and also need to think about the durability of the items. Better to build it once correctly than more than one to get it done quickly.

With regards to the passion of helping, costumes aren't required for that, and I am sure your local unit would be more than happy to have you come along and help out as a handler (more important than you think) while you get the costume up to a high quality of standard. There is no rush to get in when it means compromising quality.

That is the downside to the lesser-numbered costumes in the detachment in that the obscurity of the characters versus big screen makes creation of the costumes more wearer-oriented than the mass of armorers that other costumes and detachments have. Though, I guess that is the charm and appeal in TFE, as we stand out from the rest ;)

  6. It's looking good to me!
My suggestion (and it just might have not got to this point yet) is to make sure you weather the armor and the midsection with some blackwash. Not too much, but just enough to get it a bit dingy.

On the cloak part, I have seen folks keep their Nihilus parts back behind their shoulders with a snap hidden on the inside of the cloak and on the covered part of the back, or even velcro.

  7. Not saying anyone is lazy, I would just like to see the quality of the detachment reach higher than, "Well, most people won't care so I won't go for as accurate as I could". ;)

I am trying to get the photos corrected this week (Currently putting as much of Mother Talzin back together as I can) but you can see the game file version and the Star Wars Encyclopedia version in the gallery under Revan's stuff until then. The entire CRL system for TFE is getting a revamp to include better photos that you can click for actual variations as well. Just a matter of getting time to put everything in and having things not delete themselves since the last update!

  8. The black series figure is also not eligible for approval, and therefore, can't be used as reference. Also, with game references, the hilt is not always the NPC version since you can sort of chose the style. The NPC hilts from KOTOR II showing the model shows the accurate version from the game file, which was never clear enough to show details to begin with.

With regards to the gold emitter, the text was changed several months ago and reverted back to the old text when the server had a freak out, which I have been spending all night fixing for several CRLs including Desert Starkiller and Dark Lord (Hoth) Starkiller (which is why the Revan images make no sense t the text given that the old images partially reverted back).

Point being, we are trying to remove the, "meh, good enough since people don't look at the references" mindset that the Flagship has sunk into the past several years. The intent has been to bring us back into the light as a quality detachment that focuses on details just as much as any other detachment.

  9. We offer the correct and accurate photo references here and in the CRL so that vagueness like that is removed. Otherwise, the photos would not be supplied and the text-only reference would be acceptable.

  10. Rephrasing what Chris said. Her story allots for Darkside and there are references for her, just finding the official game files rear view shots that might be tricky. I remember there being fan-made skins your could put on your character of hers, but those 1st person one's won't work as they are fan-made.

  11. So long as you have the complete 360 degree detail layout from an official source (in this case the concept from SW.com being such a source), then it just falls to accurately reflecting said references into real world costumes and BOOM.

I 100% support the creation and approval process of this costume, even if it is a reminder that GL intentionally denied Revan from being canon. :-D

  12. While sabers aren't required for approval or trooping, we recommend getting as accurate of one as you can. Ultrasabers are designed to be used in combat, and often sacrifice accuracy for being able to take a hit.

With Revan's hilt, it's really 2 options you have for the design for KOTOR style in either single or double, but both versions can be seen in the gallery of references here:

    http://www.theflagshipeclipse.com/forums/index.php?/gallery/category/27-darth-revan-kotor/

It shows the simplistic KOTOR game file design as well as the Star Wars Encyclopedia entry for Revan's hilt.

The most important thing being that we do NOT accept SWTOR style hilts for KOTOR Revan. I am still hoping that someone will make a SWTOR Revan, but the hilts would still only be usable in the appropriate eras/games that the costumer is wearing.

  13. To continue off of Chris's response, yes, Baras is absolutely approvable. Just make sure that the 3D files you have match 100% to the ones in game. Sometimes there are discrepancies in details that the file maker's do not worry about, but we as the costumer need to.

With the lightsaber, it does not need to light up or even have a blade, but the second file you posted is a lot different than the in-game file from Jedipedia. You will need to match the curve and the proportions of the emitter.

I am also currently building armor from SWTOR, so it will be exciting to have other characters!

  14. For the piping, I just put a pipe cleaner across the inside, pinned the shirt around it in a straight line, then sewed the two sides. I left the two sides open just barely enough to pull the cleaners out, then closed up the edges.

My collar is weird in that it isn't actually attached. Because I have all my dreads to worry about, my separate collar that is fabric with a thin foam core for structure, has velcro that meets with velcro sewn on the existing collar of the shirt. Then, I have a velcro enclosure that goes around my dreads and balaclava to keep it snug against my neck.

Hi folks I'm looking at putting revan together, I have all the parts  but am struggling with the shirt does any one have any pictures of there's please.

Also the cape does it fit to the chest with lobster clips are just tie to the rings as it looks like ctrls have altered since people have there costumes built so seen various methods.

I'll get some pics up once I can get the wife to help take them.

    Cheers all

The cape doesn't tie to the rings. The cape can be attached to the armor itself and then the hood and capelet sit on top of it, with the shoulders of the capelet attaching to the armor rings.
