Shin Guards - need advice

I have looked at the threads in this forum re shin guards, and it looks like I have several options in terms of hockey guards, riot gear, etc., that might be able to be modified.

 

... But when I look at the CRL's, it says that the shin guards and knee pads must be a rigid material (like plastic or fiberglass), and that the knee pads must be oval.

 

Each of the links posted in the threads I saw featured round (or at least, non-oval) knee guards, and some shin/knee guard sets appeared to be leather rather than plastic or other rigid material. A couple of these pics got the thumbs up from Pam and others, although these were older threads.

 

So, how do I go about getting/converting knee and shin guards, given what appear to be the new, stricter, requirements? I do not have the equipment or facilities to sculpt my own. If anyone could make them for me, by all means send me a PM. Otherwise, I am happy to do what others have done and convert riot gear/hockey guards, but I could use some advice on where to find parts that would meet the current CRL's.
