Belt buckles

I'm looking through the tutorials, and I see that there are two different belt/holster styles. The first shows a rectangular buckle and an octagonal buckle, but for the assassin style belt/holster, I only see the rectangular buckle. Is the octagonal buckle a part of the assassin style holster?

 

Edit: OK - I think I've figured out my first question (I think the rectangular buckle alone is sufficient, but please let me know if I'm wrong!), and now I have a second question:

 

Tandy's website appears to only have one rectangular buckle blank for a 2" belt.

It's the same buckle we all use for Imperial belts for Officers, Gunners, etc.

 

But this one has rounded-off edges, whereas Mara's buckle appears to be a rectangle with square corners, like this: http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-u ... 87-00.aspx

Problem is, these two buckles with the sqared-off corners only fit belts that are 1 1/2" - 1 3/4" wide.

 

So I have a choice - Option 1: go with a 1 3/4" belt with a rectangular buckle with squared-off corners, or Option 2: stick with the 2" belt, for which I'll need to use the rectangular buckle with rounded-off corners that we all know and love from the Imperial Officer Corps.

 

Which option is "more correct"?
