that would be an interesting effect on the mask, that being said, following the costume CRL's (with wiggle room) is the most advisable thing

 

Mask: The stylized, skull-like mask is white or off-white in color. It extends from the lips to at least the top of the forehead, and may continue further beneath the cowl. The mask has two red stripes. Located over the eye holes, each stripe should extend upward with a slight taper. The silver forehead design consists of a two-layer bar which starts at the top edge of nose. The bar connects to an oval design in the center of the forehead, and then narrows again until it reaches the edge of cowl/hood. At that point it expands outward into a second oval with two smaller ovals going out to either side getting gradually smaller.

 

As long as when you take your submission pics your costume looks like the CRL images you'll be good to go. My main advice would be to post pictures as you build so we can help you with the finer details of this costume.
