  1. Start prowling the internet. You're bound to find something. Just search for riding boots. Don't go cheap on your boots. A good pair of boots will last and be comfortable on those long troops. I scored a pair of WW2 German jackboots for my Nihilus. The things still have hobnails on them so when I walk on a hard floor, my heels click with every step. It's a fun little touch.
  2. That's what I did and it's the best-looking lit blade I've got. I went with quad-wrapped.
  3. It doesn't come with a blade. You supply that yourself. The lightsaber comes with a set screw and small allen wrench so that you can hold a blade in place. It also has a machined Covertec knob already installed on the hilt.
  4. Thank you! It was a fun play with Photoshop. To mark my approval I wanted a fitting image with a proper lightsaber blade.
  5. He does take orders when requested. They're made one at a time upon request, even if it's not listed on eBay. He sells them with light but no sound.
  6. I like Scott's fiberglass crown and was glad that he sold one to me. My mask and crown are permanently connected so the thing wears like a helmet (just like Scott's).
  7. Sounds right for a Twin Roses job. Definitely one of their more affordable costumes. Gary is in charge of embroidery there. If that price is in US dollars you'll do alright. The Aussie dollar is stronger at the moment and you'll save around $30.00 in the currency conversion.
  8. Fair enough letting your hair hang a bit loose beneath the hood. My under-mask/balaclava is also used for my stormtrooper, though. It's just easier for me to get multiple uses out of the thing.
  9. The dreadlocks on the action figure are a bit misleading. The hairstyle explains the shape of Nihilus' head beneath his hood. But explanations are clear to point out that Darth Nihilus no longer had a body. He inhabited his armor, which retained Nihilus' body shape. So, actually, Nihilus didn't have hair. Not physically, at least. And even if he did, we never see it in artwork or the video game. An action figure isn't a valid reference, I'm afraid. I've got long hair, too. I simply pull it back into a ponytail and slip my under-mask, mask, and hood on over my hair. The ponytail keeps things tidy and cool under the layers of fabric.
  10. Here is the pricey Nihilus lightsaber... http://saberconcepts.blogspot.com.au/ I seem to remember his prices being higher than that, though. I think his name is Wade. Or look through this... http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?11844-Rhyen-Skytracker-s-Darth-Nihilus-custom-sabers/page4. These, I know, were the pricey ones. I'm inclined to think that both links are the same person.
  11. Perhaps not, but since Nihilus doesn't have a body to speak of, there should never be any flesh visible at any time or under any circumstance.
  12. Welcome Shaun. It's good to see you pop over here from the TAG forums. I've already given you some information via PM and a couple of posts on TAG so I won't bother to repeat the information here. You will find all of the help and information you need here at the Flagship Eclipse. There are at least two sellers of the Darth Nihilus lightsaber. One has a questionable reputation and the other is quite pricey. Other than making it yourself, TCSS is a viable and passable option.
  13. That mask is definitely skull-like. More so than others I have seen. I like it. But it doesn't quite match what we see of Nihilus in KOTOR 2 or in the COTF artwork... The Nihilus we see has a slimmer mask that isn't quite so realistic. For instance, the angles at the cheeks aren't as sharp as they are in your mask. I'm inclined to think that your mask wouldn't be approved because of its unique look. I may be wrong, though. I don't make those decisions.
  14. Twin Roses Designs does fantastic work in all things. Though I admit that I'm not familiar with Andrea's Nihilus. I've commissioned various things from her over the years.. cloaks, a custom Jedi set, and a Santa Claus suit. Be warned that her work isn't cheap and that it isn't fast. She's a true professional and she takes her time to get things right once it's your turn in her queue. If you're going for the Twin Roses Nihilus, I suggest two things... First, ask Andrea to add multiple pleats to the front panels of the outer tunic. Her current photos don't have the pleats but they are obvious in the COTF artwork. and second, The width of the obi is dependent upon the width of your belt. Her obi is pretty wide but without a belt I can't judge its width properly. For her sake, the obi should be two inches (5 centimeters) wider than the width of your belt. * I bought my belt here: http://www.corellianimports.com/darth-nihilus-belt.htm (in case you aren't making it yourself).
  15. I bought a pair of black BDU pants to wear underneath the skirts. My sister-in-law then sewed the skirts directly to the waistband of the pants. I wear suspenders to keep everything up. It makes getting dressed easy since both skirts and the pants are one garment.
  16. A couple of things... first, more weathering! That's a big thing. It needs fraying, some holes, and a bit of shredding at the bottom edges. This costume is too tidy. And second, I think I'm seeing tag ends on your cloak knot. Sew them to the back of the knot and hide them.
  17. Whatever modifications you do to the costume, let us see the pictures first. Get our input before re-submitting your pictures. We can spare you the aggravation and wasted time of costume rejection.
  18. I agree with Katie, the "cat ears" are a bit wide on this costume. The bottom hem of the inner tunic needs further weathering. The skirts and outer tunic are fine but the inner tunic is still a bit too neat on the bottom. To even out the look of the black layers, I strongly suggest retaking these photographs out of the direct sun. The sunlight brightens everything and makes any tone difference glaringly obvious. If possible, tuck your inner tunic sleeves deeper into your gauntlets. The sleeves look a bit loose and tucking them in further ought to tighten them up.
  19. If the costume is in tip top completed shape then everything's easy. If it does need alteration or modification, though, we are here to help you tighten things up. We'll point out any deficiencies, if any, and steer you towards Nihilus perfection.
  20. That's a good-looking Nihilus. Well done! The obi may be a smidge wide but not enough that anyone other than the most exacting of costumers would notice. The only real "off" I see is the closed tunics... remember, they close right side over left. They're backward in the fully garbed pictures. Close them the other way and I bet this passes easily.
  21. Show us what you've got. We enjoy pictures.
  22. My first troop as Darth Nihilus was a rousing success! I scared a lot of folks, both children and adults. I brought a few kids to tears and sent a Batman running. It was a good time for all, though, and we had fun. Not everyone was afraid of the Sith Lord, though...
  23. This looks like a COTF foundation to me with the separate cloak and so I'll go with that assumption. Your enthusiasm is good here. The "ear" width is better. You still need a knot below your chin to hold the cloak closed. Looking at your pictures, I understand that your current cloak doesn't close that way. Because of this and the hood/cloak's material, it may be necessary to replace the hood/cloak in order to better match the rest of the costume. *Your skirts need a split in the front. *The bottom of the skirts, cloak, and outer tunic need weathering. *The tunics should close right side over left (yours are backward in these pictures). *I don't see quilting on the sleeves. *Your sleeves look a bit baggy. Maybe tucking them into your gloves will help but they'll still look loose. *Your gloves need to sit outside of the sleeve openings. We should see the flare of the gauntlets. *Your hood/cloak material looks shinier than the rest of the costume. It should all be the same fabric, although the sleeves can differ slightly. The belt and obi are looking good. Getting the hood to drape correctly is a challenge for every Darth Nihilus. We're forced to make the fabric drape unnaturally for this costume and so it takes experimentation to make it look correct. Your latest photo is an improvement here. Try to get the sides of the hood to drape vertically in order to create a boxed shape around your face. I can still tell that the hood's fabric differs from the rest of the costume, though.
  24. It's a given that nearly every appropriate boot that you can find for Nihilus will be better than simple costume boots. It really comes down to your budget. If you're willing to spend $300.00 you can buy replica German jackboots with hobnails on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WWII-GERMAN-WH-BLACK-JACK-BOOTS-W-HOBNAILS-/120724411543 Or $50.00 for these reproduction boots: http://www.militarytour.com/reproductions/ww11/german/uniforms/Jack.htm Appropriate boots are out there with a small amount of searching. *The above two links offer jackboots in your size 11.
