  1. i'm going to start working on the tunics a bit soon, and i was wondering; is there a cap sleeve on the outer tunic? or at least over top of the full sleeve? it looks like there is one in the pic

i've seen a few costumes that have that detail and a few that don't, so i'm wondering if i should put it on or not.

  2. personally, i prefer the heels, it gives you a more sinister posture. but for approval you should use the flats. other than that i think the buttons on the chest box look a little off-kilter in these pics. i would suggest using separate buttons similar to the ones on an officers rank badge.

  3. i'm sewing a nihilus costume for a friend and wanted a little input from you guys on the cape. i've been reading over scotts build blog and put a muslin together because i'd rather mess up with that than the raw silk he bought for the project. so feast your eyes upon the great white nihilus!

i know i should take 4-6 inches off the outer cape, and the front isn't draping right, but to be fair, it's not glued onto the crown, it's just held on with little clamps

  4. i know this thread is a little old, but i felt that i'd throw in a piece of advice for weathering fabric and soft parts. take sandpaper to them. if you have a mouse sander lay out your piece and go at it all over, it takes that "new" look right out in a hurry.

  5. i don't think starkiller had sith eyes, at least i don't remember him having them. if anyone has photo evidence of it i will gladly shut my mouth. also, i'm throwing out a hi from your sister garrison, timberline.

  6. Excellent find on the belt accessories -- are those cellphone clip attachments?
those are covertec clips, same as the ones used to hold every lightsaber on a jedi in the prequels. he's got four of them running across the back of the three inch belt (the big one).
  7. Ok, just read over this again.

    1. Not saying this is "the" way, but my chest armor had 8 snaps: two for the front center, two for the back center, and four for the lower corners (underarm straps).

    *snip*

in the shots pulled from cutscenes, it's pretty clear there are two clips holding together the front of the armor. and i'm pretty sure there are two straps holding together the back as well.

  8. do you see on your shoulder pieces how the angles on the back of the neck don't quite match up, (or in my case how the left shoulder extends towards the center much farther than the right). that's the reason i'm doing it as a single piece for my version 2, then splitting it up the back. i think it will help out by, if not creating symmetry, at least creating the illusion of symmetry between the two pieces.

  9. did you see the comparison shots i've posted elsewhere showing the similarities between starkillers shoulder plates and the shoulder armor worn by leia in the boushh armor from rotj? as i get closer to making version 2 armor for starkiller i'm going to try to make up that leia armor. with the final idea to be able to make a mold that i can vaccuform. i think it would end up being a three part mold, one for the back plate (that can be split up the center later for those doing starkiller) and the two front plates, maybe put some indentation for spotting the restraining bolt, but not too deep so it could easily be filled with a little bondo.
