  1. Here are a couple of pics from my build, perhaps it can help others with ideas as to how-to ;-)

The belt I made myself - bought two leather belts 5 cm and around 1,2 cm + 8 chicago screws + velcro for the closure in the bag.

Formed hood from Twi´lek Pam, primer and then painted it mat black

    Balaclava, one I already had.

Outerskirt attached to the inner tunic (used a t-shirt for size and went from there)

Innerskirt with an elastic waist with the split all the way down

Cape - used velcro to attach it to the formed hood and then sew in a piece of fabric at the forehead to give it more the cat ear look.

The ripped sleeves with 2,5 cm spaces between and sewn them inside the innertunic to give it a look of another layer as to the CRL

Outer tunic made like the inner tunic but longer, as it should reach mid thigh

The mask was a 3d print and it can´t be approved without heavy mods and reshaping of the form, which I did with auto paste, lots of shaping, sanding, primer and paint. It actually came out pretty well :))

The blackout mask is bought online and painted black.

Gloves was bought online, real leather formfitted and reach mid arms.

Boots, also real leather and some I already had for my Visas Marr costume.

And that is it - have fun everyone if you decides to jump in on this figure. It is a very nice costume and easy to move around in, and you can sit down !  :boom:

  2. Hi Welsome to the forum

There are no patterns up front to make this costume - I´ve just made mine from scratch and I used the pictures from the CRL to guide me.

I took a t-shirt for size when I made the tunics, the innerskirt is "just" a skirt of fabric with an elastic waist with the split all the way down, the outerskirt is made like the innerskirt but with the larger opening + I attached it to the inner tunic for a better fit.  The obi is a double layer of fabric with velcro closure.  The hood/cape - I bought the formed hood from Twi´lek Pam and this one took me more time to make, then all the other pieces LOL  - I went with velcro to attach the fabric to the hood, and then I sew a piece in front of the hood to give it the cat ear look and snaps on the shoulders of the outertunic to attach the cape and hold it in place behind the shoulders.

Regarding the mask - I had a friend make me a 3d, but it is not approvable without heavy mods, so I reshaped my mask.

There are a couple of WIP threads that you can take a look at - and I would advice you to start your own to show of your progress and ask for advice if needed

  3. Thanks - well, I did have some trouble with the mask, first go at it had to be redone, since the paste wouldn´t harden, so I had to strip it and start over again.  I think it came out okay, but when I get some funds in the future, I´ll buy the WA mask or hope on a better 3d version  ;-)

  4. The mask is not "skull like" enough  - and no it is not a kotor style, it´s a 3d print of the COFT.

I´m now trying to reshape it to give it more edge at the black marked circles + I´ve sanded the sides more and removed the red stripes, since those may not be raised.

I´ve send my GML pics of my two tunics, so hopefully when the mask has set, got it painted and taken new pics, all should be good. There was no issue regarding my costume other than the mask, so that is good news.  Going to look positive on this...  ;-)

  5. I would like to re-open this one and support Blanes proposal to change the text back, found here : https://www.theflagshipeclipse.com/forums/index.php?/topic/3019-darth-nihilus-cotf-update/

We don´t have levels in TFE like for exampel the IOC/FISD, so I think it should be optional for the wearer, otherwise I would have suggested the blackout mask to be a higher level then basic approval.

The face is blacked out by a sculpted black mask with visible mouth details.

    Balaclava

A form-fitting black balaclava is worn to hide the costumer's face and neck.

    To

    Face Covering
The costumer's face is blacked out behind the white mask. This may be accomplished with a sculpted black mask, or a tight-fitting fabric blackout mask that shows facial features.

The eyes are hidden with black fabric behind the eyes of the mask or by the fabric of a blackout hood.

If a sculpted mask is used, wearer must also use a black balaclava underneath to cover the neck.

    Thank you for your time

  6. Well, got my mask finished and now trying to figure out a good way to mount the cape on the formed hood... going for velcro, think it will get it to fit best.

Things here in Denmark are more or less being shut down due to the Covid19, our borders are now also closed and the mail is delayed... :|

    Be safe everyone...

  7. God idea ;-)  hope you´ll get your costume soon.

Thanks, my dad is already finished with the mask, going there tomorrow to pick it up.  Then I need to paint the red and grey and get the strap on :))

  8. ;-)   One of the good things about being in a house quarantine for the next 2 weeks (perhaps more due to Coved19 in Denmark) is, that I can get my costume done.

Got my belt finished and all the soft parts done, except the cape - still thinking of a way to get it attached to the formed hood in a solid way...

The mask is at my parents place for my dad to paint it - he is much better at it then me LOL

  10. Well, it has been some time, since I have made a new costume, but now I am finally at it again, and after having made 3 Nihilus costumes for others, 2 COFT and 1 KOTOR, I decided to go with the COFT version.

This will be my 3rd TFE and my 9th 501st. costume .  What can I say other than I love to make costumes, to find all the right parts and getting it all together.

    I´ve already done :

    inner and outer tunika
    quilted and ribbed sleeves
    innerskirt

    obi

got the boots and gloves sorted out
    primed the two masks

primed the formed hood from Twilék Pam

Now I need to put the belt together, got all the parts - just need a leather hole tool, think my dad may have one otherwise I´ll have to use a nail and hammer :))

I need to give the masks and the formed hood the final coats.

I also need to make the outer skirt and get the right length on the cape + find a way to attach it to the formed hood (thinking snaps or magnets)  + shorten the sleeves + get the parts tattered.

Guess a 2-3 weeks, then I should be ready to send in the pics for the GML team...

  11. The seams are visible on the sleeves for your hidden pockets - which is not approvable.  I would put the pockets on the inside of the skirt instead.

The seam down in the front of the skirt should not be there.

There need to be more gathering of the fabric on the back of the skirt.  The pleats looks fine on the front, but should not go over the shoulders and down the back.

To go about some of the above issues - you could ask the seamstress to cut the dress in two (upper and lower part), gather some more fabric on the back of the skirt,  get rid of the seam in the front of it but keep the pleats from the shoulder down to the floor in the front of the skirt, and then sew it back together for 1 piece.  That is how I did mine to get the right look.

This is a tricky costume to make, but you´re on the right track

  12. Hi

The fabric is to textured, it should be a plain black fabric with some weight to get it drapping right.

This is what I used for mine so you can get an idea

I would like to add that I did give her the pattern posted here and she said she liked it much better than the one she had so perhaps she will use it for future designs. She was very friendly. I was going to reach out to her if I did not get approval but I also noted that another reviewer on her page mentioned that they had an issue with their outfit (they did not state the nature of the issue) and they said she worked with them to fix it.

If I were you, I would still get her to redo the outerdress - keep the one you have, and let her do a new one.

One of the leaders of the local group said I should go ahead and submit it since my character is the only one in our regional group. I got approved after a slight lipstick change so it's all good now. I'm the only Visas in MN so maybe they went easy on me :) I'm SL90126 of the Centeral Garrison now!

Again, I am not happy about this decision from your GML.
