    Mara Jade wrist length Gloves

Seconding eBay. Lots of options there.
  3. On the Worbla, I found it super easy, but not with the traditional craft foam. The sandwich method of worbla is great, but not as easy to get to work when you're actually going all around the leg. I had to revert to thick foam and just folding over the edges for my comic style shin guards cause otherwise it just wasn't happy. Maybe you'll have better luck than me, but I got 5mm foam which worked first time like a charm. The sandwich method literally just landed me a pile of wonky crap, sadly. Nightsister Ventress from Texas

I would probably try to go with non-taffeta if you can find something similar. Taffeta usually has a sheen to it that I don't think you want for this costume. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. I'm fairly confident that all of hose measurements are ones you need to determine based on your girlfriend's body. I recommend playing with paper to create patterns and check how they look on her. You need to make sure it proportionately looks good on her, not just some measurements other people's bodies need. Savage Opress vest

I think if you don't do his half-naked version that you will be able to use the armour and padding to make yourself look bigger than you are. It's part of the magic of costuming. Anyone can be anything.

    Mara Jade Arica (Blue)

Hmm, I'm not sure I've ever seen enough genuine images of it to really be of help, but if you have references, I'd be happy to take a look. I kinda wonder if it should be more like undies with a loincloth on top, but really not sure from my brief google search.

    Mara Jade Arica (Blue)

I'd go read in the Mara Jade section of the forum and see what others have posted. The Arica COstume Stardards Blue Dress post in particular has lots of information. I always try to source everything I need first, and then tackle the hardest thing first.

    Painting Tips

Fabric painting is not like other painting in that you're kind of expected to do it indoors. I would not use a spray paint (I know of none suitable for fabric that don't look crap or crack) and would just hand paint with fabric paint if that's what you want to do. However, I would recommend the vinyl transfers. Having seen them in person they look particularly swish. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Visas Marr Fabric Question

I'm on the Number 2 train as well. I'd be concerned about the charmeuse as it can end up looking cheap when out next to other fabrics IMO and the shiny side is bleeding through to the back more than I think is right.

I'm not familiar enough with the costume to give any helpful commentary on it. Ask for better explanation. If it's irrational, they will have to at least put it into words. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

There has to be an appeal process. Can you ask for clarification of what they mean? Maybe making them be more explicit in their reasoning can give you an idea what you would need to do to resubmit? Failing that, take photos in different lighting and see? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I don't know if it's the case, but the point of weathering is yo look like he clothes has been naturally used and damage has happened to it. Occasionally, weathering can look too obviously on purpose. It becomes clear that this isn't clothing that became distressed through wear and tear. I wonder if that's what they mean?

    Darth Revan almost complete

In future, I recommend having the natural light source behind the camera. Because it's behind you in these it's difficult to see any of the details. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Mara Jade sin/knee guard help :)

I'm not a judge, but the ones I've seen that are approved are closer to the top ones than the bottom IMO. I'd pass along mine, but they're not for that version so probably aren't that useful. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Looking for some advice - Bastila Shan

Pleather is relatively easy to work with. It sews much like normal fabric with a few changes. It is useful to put paper between the fabric and your machine/foot. Tissue paper or wax paper works well. It just means it flows through the machine well. Both pleather and leather will never heal holes. So if you see it wrong, and rip out the seams, you will see the holes you made the first time round forever. For both, though, use a leather needle rather than a normal one. Real leather may or may not be able to be done on a machine. It depends on the weight. Leather is better for actual straps, as it has a lot more strength to it. Pleather can slowly stretch over time to the point where it rips. You can reinforce depending on what it is, but for straps I recommend real leather if there is any weight bearing. Leather is a lot harder to work with. There is zero stretch in it, so if it's any kind of bodysuit you will not be able to really move in a full fitting leather outfit.

    Mara Jade bodysuit question

So I'm plogging along with my build for this, but I have a question. Does the bodysuit have to be all the same fabric for clearance, or if its two fabrics (that both are black, medium sheen) would that be clearable? I'm thinking kind of like the Kotobukiya Mara Jade outfit, just in black. It would have slightly more matte, but still stretchy middle with the more PVC style fabric on the outside half of the jumpsuit. I have enough fabric in both that I could make full jumpsuits of either, but I think it might be more breathable and comfortable this way. I just don't want to cut it all up and make it and find out its not clearable like that.

    Mara Jade bodysuit question

I have not done the cape, but I did make my harness backplate. There are three blog posts on my page about this costume. This is the one that has my backplate in it. https://withoutastitchon.blogspot.ie/2016/04/mara-jade-bits-and-bobs.html
