  1. I never got around to playing KOTOR and perhaps one day I will. Hell, I only just played Forces Unleashed I & II. I first learned about Darth Revan from SWTOR. I felt like he was an awesome character even if he did seem a bit confused as to which side he wanted to be on :) I have to say I never really understood the mess going on with his shoulders in the SWTOR chest piece. I like the version listed in 501st CRL better and so I am trying to learn how to do all this costuming stuff. I wish you the best of luck with the SWTOR version and I hope you can get a better grasp on all that material around his shoulders than I could.

  2. I sent you a PM. What I was actually able to do was make the cape/capelet and hood all in 1- it hangs much nicer. All in all for the soft parts I used about 7 yards of fabric. (mind you Mojofarian is about 6'3" so we had to use extra to get the length).

Pics and patterns hopefully will be up on the thread Sunday!

Looking forward to seeing aforementioned "pics and patterns"

  3. Hey Kilryth, how much silk did you order? I'm getting to that point... probably this week. And you ordered it from Thai Silks?

In a previous message he and I had he said he ordered 18 yards of silk which was excess of what he needed from Thai Silks.

  4. sorry for the stop in progress. i was trying to get this project done before nyc comic con but i couldnt finish 2 projects at once so i decided to continue with my arkham asyylum scarecrow build and put revan on hold. i do have more pics to update with the paintjob and certain parts. as soon as this weekend is over i will update as soon as i can. like i said im sorry for the hold up but im sure you all can understand. also if any of you guys have any questions regarding worbla and all that good stuff just hit me up with a pm and ill be glad to help out

I wish I could go to NYC Comic Con if for no other reason to see Nicole Marie Jean (https://www.facebook.com/NicoleMarieJea ... ion=stream) She's kinda awesome. I look forward to seeing your progress once you can get back to it.

  5. Not a bad idea, though tomorrow I start Terminal Leave from the Air Force and am still working on a job offer/planning to move so funds are on hold for now.

Oooo Terminal Leave = a huge life changing event. GL with the transition. Then again you were in the Air Force so.... I don't guess it is much of a transition to civilian live :P Seriously though GL. I'm planning now for my retirement in about a 1 1/2 years.

  6. Ok, I just put up a quick and dirty Livejournal Scrapbook page with many of the screenshots I used as reference when making my own Darth Revan costume. Click on the thumbnails for notes about the screenshots, where they came from, potential things to notice or look out for, etc. Please note that when you click on the thumbnail, you'll go to a larger version of the image. If you click on THAT image, it will give you the full size. Some of these images are quite large...others less so.

If we later move all reference photos to a central location for the Detachment, I'll be happy to provide these. But for now, you can get to them right over here at this link.

Enjoy! And please, if you have others, post links to them as well!

So this post was made a million years ago aka 2006 and the link no longer is showing anything... or it could just be me.

  7. For boots one of the things you might want to look at are structural firefighting boots. Sometimes you can get them cheap. I can tell you that the leather boots are very comfortable and will be plain enough with no buckles or laces. I plan on using my old ones from work since I can purchase a new pair every year.

Look at http://www.therfirestore.com and check the structural firefighting boots. Then search which model online and you will find them cheaper.

I think there is an extra letter in that link and I believe this is where you were trying to send us: http://www.thefirestore.com/store/categ ... ing-Boots/

Looks like they have some pretty kewl boots. I bought some Jack Boots off ebay. Only problem for me is my calves are appearently huge and so I have to stretch out the leather :) I promise it's because of all my massive muscles.

  8. You would be surprised... My Shepard vembraces made me pound my head on a wall for days. I was, for the first time in my life, cursing my skinny wrists. XD That said, vembraces are definitely the part to mess up on and learn from, since you'll waste less material with them versus something bigger, like the cuirass.

If you want to see the Queen of Worbla, google Kamui Cosplay. She's got some great tutorials on working with the stuff, and I'm using her method. I'm just terrible about posting progress pics. LOL.

Thanks to all sorts of excuses that end up actually being just my lack of attention to detail I messed up one of my Vambraces lastnight. (I made two right hand Vambraces). I hope that the majority of my learning curve will be done before I get to the big chest peices. If I were rich I would be more tempted to just buy one of Rob's premade outfits.

I did not realize she was Kamui "the queen of worbla", but it is her tutorial that got me started on worbla although my wife would argue that I just wanted to see her slap her breasts and speak with the accent :)

I would still love to see an update on Atrocity's progress.

  9. Great thread! your WIP is very helpful. I have been pouring over the various threads trying to figure out how to make this costume from scratch. It would be very nice is McCall or Simplicity came out with a Darth Revan pattern :) What made you decide on the Silk Noil and is there a particular stock # that you would recommend. I'll have to go look at the Darth Maul patter you referenced in one of your posts. I was leaning towards this Red Riding-hood hood pattern: http://www.fleecefun.com/red-riding-hoo ... ttern.html. Your shtuff looks good; please keep posting updates and pics.

  10. Any updates? I too am using Worbla; let me rephrase that, I've bought some Worbla and in the process of figuring out how to make it all work. I've started with the Vambraces. I figured they would be easier to start with. I'm curious to see what the inside of your Cuirass looks like; from the pics it looked really thick and a bit heavy.

As for the cloth parts, well after pouring over all of these forum posts, I'm some what conflicted. Some are going with a Silk, you mention a black twill, and there was some other fabric that escapes me at the moment that others liked. Any chance your friend that is helping you out with this part knows of a McCall or Simplicity Patter that works best?

This is the first outfit that I will have ever made so this is a huge learning curve for me. All of these posts and pics really help out a lot.

    GL
