  1. Great suggestion L.

Even a quick whip-stitch of a small piece of velcro can be a great addition to get something to stay where you want, but those 'fashion' clips are pretty innovative, and would be a good way to have something stay in place.  I may try some on my outfit.  Much less likely to cause me to bleed than using safety pins.

  2. Short fast response is: Absolutely.   I don't have the setup tonight to take pictures for you, but I'll be happy to get my stuff out tomorow when I can drop boxes in the apartment and not get things thrown at me as a result.

I will get you some quality photos tomorrow.

Hey there 6365 Welcome.  Nef, one of our Costume Mentors is a particular expert on Nihilus, feel free to post your work in progress there and I'm sure she and others will have some great input for you.  If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

    hi everyone

Michael here from sunny South Africa!

i discovered cosplay 2 years ago and since then ive loved building costumes. when i heard the 501st had a South African outpost i decided its well worth joining as it combines so many awesome sides together. the Dark side; Costumes, charity work(this makes it worth looking at if nothing ells) and of course STARWARS!!

currently in the process of building a sith acolyte costume for approval into the South African 501st outpost. ive started to work on sculpting the armor parts out of nsp chevant clay. here's hoping i get it 501st worthy!

Hey there Michael, charity and costumes might as well be as good as peanut butter and chocolate.  I mean... at least I think so, I can't stand chocolate but everyone else seems to like it.  We have some great info on the Acolyte here, be sure to dig around, find both screen reference as well as some great shots of what people have created, hopefully this will help you in your own art.  And as always, we welcome work in progress photos and information to better help you...  Plus, it's fun to watch.

Hi I'm Chelsea from Queensland Australia; which is Redback Territory

I'll be wanting to make a Mara Jade for the 501st here. I've been cosplaying for about 4yrs and I mainly work with nylons and superheroes

Can't wait to be working for the 501st in Australia. My boyfriend is a TK and so many of my friends have a mix of Sand, TK and Scouts. So time for one of the group to be someone different

hey Chelsea, welcome, you Aussies have some great folks out there to hang out with, you're pretty darn fortunate.  If you want help for information you're certainly in the right place and we'll help you in any way we can, what is great though is that I know you've got a great support team out there to help you in person also.  Please let us know if we can help you with anything.

  4. Howdy!

    Jon from Indiana here.

I'm currently working on a TK for my 501st acceptance into the Bloodfin Garrison. I'm a member (Generic Jedi) of the Rebel Legion's Mos Espa Base.

Got into troopin' because I love dressing up, Star Wars, and volunteering my time for a good cause. :)

I'm wanting to start working on a Sith Acolyte once I finish my TK. Figured it'd be a good mix of my current costumes. I'd get to have hard armor/helmet like a TK and cloak/lightsaber like a Jedi. Plus... they look really cool!

Welcome Jon, we're glad to have you here.  I know the desire to diversify, the Acolyte will be a cool costume to add I am sure.  Check out the boards here, for the Acolyte, they're very informative.  Some may require a bit of digging for the details you seek.  If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.  :)

    Hello,

    Darien from San Diego, CA

Currently looking at and will need help with building Darth Revan, looking to join Imperial Sands Garrison (formerly San Diego Squad). Order the "Fallen" by Saber Forge - 7/2/15, they are back ordered for 6-8wks, so gives me time to start the build.

New Member to San Diego Star Wars Societies and the newly formed Saber Legion - SoCal Charter.

Former member of a motorcycle club, wanting to do something more....i do still ride tho, "RevanRider" explained.

Found 501st and SDSWS thru youtube of all places; the Celebration '15 vids, so I checked out the FB pages to all and saw that it was something i would enjoy. Kinda brings me back to my days as a character and escort at six flags MM.

Those new sabers are pretty nice Darien.  I had a custom one made that took 2 years, so I know the pain of waiting.  Hopefully you do get yours soon though, I've seen a couple in person and they're quite nice.  We'd be happy to answer any questions you have over in the Revan threads.  I also suggest some thorough digging around, there are a lot of old threads that have great information lurking about.

    Hello there!

My name is Alex and i'm located in sweden, my girlfriend is a biker scout in 501st so i want to join aswell.

I want to build a sith Acolyte or lord Adraas, i have emailed a few members but haven't got any answers yet so if you can guide me to where i can find the parts etc would make my day! Thanks alot

Welcome Alex, there are a number of different people who make parts for that costume I believe, and our thread section has some of that information floating around.  If you can't find what you're looking for, start a post there and shoot me a message, I'll do a little digging myself.

  5. Hi there! My name is Clair :) I'm an active costumer in all genres but I love Star Wars more than any. I am currently going off the 501st CRL to build Darth Maladi. I am sure I'll find the Flagship boards a great help!

The CRLs are a great guide, but definitely feel free to dig around on the threads and see if there is something that may still be useful to you.  And certainly don't hesitate to ask questions.  Welcome to the boards Clair!

Hi, I'm María García from Guatemala (Central America) , looking to join Jaguar Outpost Guatemala. I've already finish my Arica / Mara Jade costume.

The reason why I want to join the 501st is because I love Star Wars also because I believe and enjoy giving back to my community specially when you bring joy to children and people in need. I've been into SW cosplay world for over 5yrs and there are only two guys at this moment in my country that are part of the 501st, hopefully I'll be the first woman to join in my country. I would love to show you my costume so you can tell me if it fulfill the standards required by 501st to join. Best wishes to all.

Welcome Maria, we're happy to help you get started and answer any questions you may have.  Be sure to check out the respective boards for your costume and post your own work in progress for review if you like.

Hi everyone! I'm Paula and I currently live in Lisbon, Portugal. I'm working on my Sinya costume, and helping a friend making Eleena Daru for both of us apply to 501st as soon as possible, and probably won't stop here as we both love star wars costumes :D

I'm really happy to meet you all, and wish that maybe our paths can cross in any international convention ;)

Welcome Paula, feel free to read up on both costumes here and post your progress here, both for any assistance you may wish, and as inspiration for others.

    Hi there.

My name is Lunna, I'm currently working on Eleena Daru costume to be able to join the Portuguese Outpost. :)

Hi Lunna, welcome to the boards, see the above post and we welcome any progress you two have made.  :)

Hello I am evelyn from Brisbane Australia, I am hoping to join up with the Redback Garrison. I am a member of the tatooine base with a Jedi costume & soon to approved sabine wren. I am working on a Satele Shan & Mother Talzin.

Welcome Evelyn, we can certainly answer any questions related to the dear Mother, and if you have any other general costuming questions, we are a pretty good source there as well.

Hello, my name is Imperial Pirate Gal aka Tiffanie McDevitt. I am from the Alpine Garrison which I have been a member for a year and have been one of the photographers since I joined. I joined with my husband, a Shadow Trooper, because we love to do charity work and hoped that we could teach our 3 kids the importance of this while sharing our love of Star Wars. I am getting ready to move forward with my Mara Jade in the black body suite and look forward getting her done. I am reposting since I have been having troubles logging in.

Sorry to hear you've had troubles loggin in Tiffanie, please let us know if you have any other troubles, we're fairly quick about resolving any login issues.

  6. Rob is notoriously hard to get a hold of.  His inbox is almost always filled to the brim.  If you cannot reach him, keep trying.   Other options are available, but for the quality and price, Rob is a great option if you can reach him.

Naturally, feel free to check out the Revan threads, and there are PAGES of them.   Lots of information to just fill your melon with.  Then of course, a WIP thread of your own and feel free to ask questions.  Let us know if we may be of any assistance.

Where did you get that Armor set at? Mainly the Chest and cod piece. Just went through your WIP on your Mando.. Very nice so far.

Could you recommand a couple threads on the Revan.  Love to find some good patterns for the soft pieces and maybe some builds/makers of the armor pieces. (or at least some guidance) I have looked around and find a little bit.

Cheers and get that Mando Done Vode!!!!

Convo moved to PM to keep everybody on topic!  Woohoo!

    Hi from Dallas Tx

    Hello and welcome!

Hello! I'm Christina and planning on joining the Northern Darkness Garrison. I'm working on building Asajj Ventress. The reason I'm joining the 501st is my love of Star Wars, my geekiness, friendships, and the happiness I always see on kids faces when they see these characters. I love bonding with people and I love making others smile. Sounds cliche, yes, but it's the truth. :)

Hey Christina, welcome to the Flagship!  We have a lot of great resources available her on paint, and costuming.  Feel free to check those threads out and even start your own Work in Progress as you go.  The first time someone identifies you as your character is the BEST!  Here's to making more smiles!

  8. Hello everyone. My name is David and I live about 25 miles east of Downtown Los Angeles.

I am already an official member with the Mandalorian Mercs and would now love to join the 501st.

I am planning on building a Darth Revan.

I would love some guidance on creating my Revan for my knowledge is not that great on building but I do have some.

    Cheers

    David

  9. Hey everyone, I'm Eddie. Currently I am a member of the New England Garrison, but will be transferring down to Star Garrison soon. I troop as an ANH TIE Pilot and an Old Republic Jedi, but I am also working on Starkiller's TIE Factory Training Gear. I have a lot left to go on it but it's in the works. I've been a member of the 501st for almost 3 years now but have had a hard time getting to troops in New England as most are at least 2 hours away, but there seem to be a lot of troops located close to where I'll be moving in Texas so that should be just the kick in the butt that I need to get cracking on my Starkiller build. Anyway I look forward to getting to know you all, MTFBWY.

    Eddie TI-8496

I feel your pain Eddie, I went from being in an area where I did over 30 troops a year, to now being happy to do one a month.  Keep on keepin' on.  As for Starkiller, check out those threads, learn what you can and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Hey everyone, I'm Tim. Not currently a member of any organization. Hope to join the ranks of the Rebel Legion as Starkiller in time. Anything I need to add, let me know I will do so.

Rebel s... are wonderful!   Welcome Tim, we have a lot of great Starkiller costumers on this side of the Force, just as do the Rebels, just remember which ones have the cookies.  As for what to do, check out the existing topic, and then feel free to post a work in progress thread of your own.  There are plenty of great folks around to give you some help.  If you don't get help, let me know and I'll find some.  :)

  10. Unfortunately I still dont have detachment access. I checked my profile database on 501st and I am listed there as being affiliated with flagship, so as far as I can tell the issue isnt there. Some help would be much appreciated!

Oh dear goodness, sorry for the issue there, I'm unsure of what the issue was but I switched your membership from 501st to Detachment, you should be set now.  Please let me know if any issues continue.

  11. Hi my name is mark I troop in the UK with 99th garrison I'm cleared with a esb vader commander Cody and currently building tusken sandie and kylo ren so would like my account reactivated please

Hey there Mark, welcome back.  Sorry for the trouble, it was an unforeseen occurrence when the forums migrated from one place to the other, glad to have you.

Hello all, My name is Craig im apart of garrison titian as a imperial crew man/Revan/working on tie pilot. I eventually plan to do a Vader, Star killer full dark side armor and sith acolyte.

Welcome Craig, if you need any help feel free to check the related threads and ask any questions you may have.

Hey guys I'm Austin from Hollywood, Fl. I have been looking at the 501st for about a year but didn't know what costume I wanted to be. Finally I made the choice of being darth revan. I just got that big brown box from rob at MWA, so I'm here to get tips so it can 501st aproved!

Hey Austin, we're happy to help get you set up.  There are a number of things that need to be done to make that costume 501st approved, but nothing too terrible.  Check the existing threads first, and then feel free to start a WIP and we can help you with any steps along the way.

Somehow I lost my old account so I had to make a new one. My name is Quinn and I'm in garrison tyranus in Richmond virginia. The character I have is asajj ventress and I hope to do more versions of her. Looking forward to seeing everyone else's posts!!

    ¤VenTresS¤

Hi Quinn, that was likely a result of an error that occurred during the server migration.  Glad to have you back.

Hi I am Caitlin, a future Georgia Garrison member (Joining once I turn 18). I am working on the Arica Bodysuit costume and I also plan on being a stormtrooper in the future. I love cosplay and volunteering so I figured it would be a great way to meet people with similar interests and to give back.  I am super excited and can't wait to start trooping!

Welcome Caitlin, there's no time too early to start on your costume, we're happy to help you get started, and if you get enough of the prep work done, you could even consider trying to get your Join date the same as your birthday.  Let us know if you need any help.

  12. Fred, your forum access was only basic forum member, not 501st or Detachment, you should now have access to a lot more boards now.

As to the original post, it's pretty much covered now by the other folks.   I've tried making my original straps a little longer but that's only worn them out further.  They don't last very long in their current condition before I have to repair them again altogether.  I have a few other fixes in mind myself but I think you're covered now.  :)

  13. I'm Jason from Mississippi, and hope to join the Rancor Raiders garrison.  This will be my first endevour into cosplay and am looking to do a Sith Acolyte costume.  I realized that i wanted to join the 501st when my brother joined another group, it looked fun, but lacked some authenticness.

Hey Jason, welcome.  We have some truly great Acolytes around so be sure to pick their brains if you want to know more.

Hey! My name is Miska (male) and I'm from Stockholm, Sweden. Might join the Nordic Garrison, or who ever wants me in. Got recommended to join these forums from a fellow Sith colleague from USA.

I want to make a Sith costume of my own so would appreciate any help possible that I can get. Don't know yet whose costume to follow. All guidelines are welcome, especially inspiration from all of you.

EDIT: Made up my mind. I would like to create following costumes:

Darth Nihilus, Darth Revan and Starkiller: Concept Sith Robes

Ultimately it is up to what YOU want to do,  The pride and energy you put into your costume will show.  And with what we end up spending, you definitely need to pick something you'll be happy with for a long time.   Check the respective boards for those costumes and I'm sure you'll have a lot you can learn from them.  Welcome!

Hi, my name is Thomas, and I'm from the area surrounding Portland, OR. I'll be joining the Cloud City Garrison after completing my first TK. I'm discussing the possibility of commissioning a Darth Revan costume from Robert at MWA. I'll be following these forums very closely in the meantime.

Hey Thomas, Rob does great work, bear in mind that we have a lot of information on ways to make the costume more wearable and a few suggested upgrades once you get the kit.   He's a good guy with a lot of skill, the catch is that you can most likely expect a fairly hefty wait time due to the demand for his work.

Hello my name is Che and looking to costume as Revan in the Star Garrison in Texas and will hopefully have a costume soon. This has been a lifelong dream but finally have the time. Hope to learn a lot.

Hi Che, and welcome, be sure to check out our Revan boards for more information on the costume.

Odd, I know I posted previously, but I am still not able to create a new thread in the off topic area. Actually, I have a question about a SW piece I'm working on, though not a costume, it is a decal, and I would love input on it. Not sure if there is a place I can post that for feedback?

Anyhow, I'll say Hi again! I have not been able to start any costumes thus far, but I hope I can get the extra income to begin one soon, and really before Epidode 7, cause I don't wanna show up opening night nekked aka costume-less! :(  I'm thinking I might just have to start with a female AT-AT pilot! :D

The Lounge seems as good a place as any, welcome anyway!

    Hello everyone!!

I'm Jamie from Orange County, California.  I am almost finished with my Mara Jade costume and can't wait to show everyone! I grew up loving Star Wars and am working on getting my 3yr old daughter acclimated to the SW Universe; her current obsession is R2-D2. :) I have been participating in the cosplay world for almost 10 years and am excited to join (hopefully soon!) the 501st and start a new chapter!

    Can't wait to meet everyone!

Welcome Jamie, check out the threads and ask any questions you may have, we'd be happy to help you get finished.

Hello, I'm Julie from Colorado, I'm hoping to join the Mountain Garrison. I currently have a custom twi'lek costume but I'm about to start working on Mara Jade as Arica (the bodysuit version) and very slowly acquiring a Tie Fighter Pilot kit

I want to get involved with the 501st because I'm inspired by their mission to do good for the community, and what better way than by involving Star Wars
