id try and take shots of that fabric in different lights as it looks like the natural light is making it look lighter, but i think that might still be too light.

id say the closest is Carmine -

Lovely colour, but hate to say this, but its not long enough. The dress bottom should reach almost to the ground, showing just the toes of the boots. the dress also seems to go in past the hips, where in fact it should flare out more in an A Line.

Am i right in saying that guys?

Here is another picture, maybe the dress skirt is not in a perfect A but could it pass? As far as the dress lenght is concerned I can add a piece of fabric arround the chest (it will be covered by the outer dress) What do you think about this?

Length could be added by adding a panel around the chest waist area as yes it would be hidden, but i can see by the cut of the dress, that from the hips down it doesnt keep flaring out, which i believe it should. The cut is creating the bell shape rather than an A shape.

Sakara is right about the length... it definitely needs to be longer, and if you can add the length by adding a piece up around the chest, then that will address that.

For the bell vs. "A" shape, Sakara is technically right - the underdress is the wrong shape. On the other hand, I don't particularly think that matters for the dress itself because there's never an occasion where Visas is ONLY in the underdress. However, I'm more concerned for you about how the dress will hang, smooth, or "bunch" once you put the overdress over it. The overdress, while not exactly "fitted," isn't exactly loose either, and my worry is that the extra material making the "bell" shape will bunch up under the overdress, and not flare out toward the bottom, through the "side" slit in the overdress.

In other words, if you want the dress to be technically correct, it should be less flared around the hips, and more flared toward the bottom. But, your costume approval will be on the costume as a whole - as long as the total costume looks right, then you'll be fine. On the other hand, if the shape of the underdress affects the total look, then you may have a problem.

Also, per Pam's comments a while back, the fabric color still looks awfully pink... but I know cameras and flashes can sometimes alter a fabric's hue.

Good luck!

Helo! thanks for your usefull advices. I've thougt to take it in a bit at the seams around the hips, after sewing the extra piece around the chest, so that the dress has less belt form. As soon as I do it, I'll post a photo.

Im sure with a little altering it will be fine.

On my monitor, the photos with you wearing the dress, the colour looks ok, bright daylight colour. But the dress on the floor does look too pink...Its hard. In my icon the dress looks very red, but in fact its more a maroon colour.

that's looking alot better. Id press all the seams to stop that weird folding of the fabric on the front seam.

Just turn the dress inside out and using the hottest setting the fabric you have can take , iron press all seams.

Hello again, looking around the forum I could not found (or I haven't seen) any desing for the sleeves and veil painting. Is there any pattern as in the outer dress or shall I do it my way? Thanks

This image from the visas gallery shows the design for her gold trim. if you save it then enlarge slightly you can see how the design is mirrored on the veil front.

This is a close up image..its a bit messy, but gives you the idea.

You can click on the image and itl come up larger.

I suggest this design for Both Visas costumes.

Pam has used this design to great effect on her visas, you can see the design clearly

I used 3D paint by Tulip to create my pattern, not sure how Pam did hers, looks like a vinyl transfer as its so clean!

I started with the veil pattern, since it's well-documented in the references. I painted it with Lumiere by Jacquard fabric paint, which works REALLY well... and then I echoed the pattern of the veil when I painted my sleeves.

This was my favorite reference picture, since it shows the pattern really well. (Click the link to see the very large version.)

Here's my pictures of the process:

As one of the people who critiques costumes for approval, my greatest happy-happy comes from seeing costumers match the references really well. I sigh a bit when I see patterns that are completely made up and don't look anything like the references. There is a pattern, and following it creates terrific results!

Happy painting!

Pam :-)
