Mandalore The Ultimate

Recommended Posts

Ok so I started, here is my half moon: measure... measure.... measured... (hold on I need to get a piece of paper and see if this is how I do it again..) measure fold.. measure (check with another piece of paper) Measure... and CUT!!!!

1_zpsv1f6sjww.jpg

And yes I draw measurements all over my tables. LOL

2_zpsnjqvnfdx.jpg

omg it flipping worked!

3_zpse2bruvk1.jpg

4_zpspqqkfh0u.jpg

I love it, I will next be making the bottom "Ptergues". If I can complete them with out error, I will attempt to cut and add on another 3/8 to each side of the cape to make it whole.

A Side Note: "My learning curve in this project." As this is my first attempt at anything like this, I knew errors would happen. I was so excited to make the cape that last night I learned the hard lesson of measure thrice cut once. Hence the caption above, Measure measure measure test, measure measure cut.

This is my fist attempt the folding and cut of my to be cape.... I should have noticed by its meek size that this was wrong. I now know i can make perfect circles! (My children will benefit from my mistake so nothing was truly lost here.)

Last night I worked on the Next section of the Cape. No pictures because it was the same thing as the last Post Without the mistake part.

I will next take the time to Hem the two half moons together on one edge, and then cut out 1/16 the on each side. Once Hemmed I will force a "forever" pleat to hid the hem line, by lightly stitching the pleat in several locations vertically.

So I have Hemmed the Two half moons together and i did not need to do anything to hide the hem line because this fabric is so amazing that it made amazing pleats and hid itself.

I then made a new method of holding the bells to my shoulders with this (fist time ever) designed and sized by myself (wife's assistance on the back pinning) Chest Vest! It looks cool and it works great!

But because the internet is SOOOOOO Slow the pics have not loaded to my Photo Bucket yet and will have to wait until later to load them on this Forum.

Below is me adding a collar and snaps to hold it into the Armoured Collar. I have since added two more snaps to this to make a full 5 snaps to hold most of this capes weight.

Collar and snaps, the collar is a piece of cut ABS with material folded over to hold it in place and then sewn to the cape.

IMG_20170217_2230588981_zps2oh8s7yz.jpg

This is the inside of the Armoured Collar with the perfectly placed snaps.

This is the under side after the cape is snapped into placeIMG_20170217_2230086351_zpsjbzwhk2f.jpg

And from another view

IMG_20170217_2229569101_zpsc2dt6lhe.jpg

Next is to position the under harnes's straps in the correct location and cut holes in the Cape to feed the shoulder bell starps to the harnes so the hold in place over the cape.

and of course Weather the crap out of this cape. However that will have to wait until the Pteruges are done as well.

Here is a moc-up of the Softs pre-Shoulders and a faux placement of the Pteruges.

Pre Sewing for the right Pteruges i had to roll it to fit it in the sewing machine as to not sew against the grain of the pleats.

Sewed on some velcro to attach the Pteruges to the Ab section of the armour. loop on one and Hook on the other so while getting dressed i don't mistake which one goes on which side.

Ok some updates,

Velcro is on the ab and cod area. I have since purchased a Tac. Vest in place of re-manufacturing the one I currently had made. It is working out amazingly. 16938724_10155110859364529_2114737706899

I have glued on snaps to the ab section to hold everything up two  in the front and two in the back. It is all attached to the Sweet new Tac. Vest via snaps on straps.

I can However I am Currently Making/Re-Doing the Weathering And I'm about 6-7 Hours to completion. When I am done that I will update my Photo bucket and re submit with the upgraded Softs. I don't think it should be any longer then 1-2 weeks at the very most. In the interim I can send all the Pics of the single pieces and me wearing the Old softs.

Thanks for all your help

Cheers,

Rejean

I've been Busy with weathering lately, So I haven't made time to post.

Firstly I have added Clips to the Shoulders of the Vest to attach the bells, but had to cut hols in the cape that would allow the clips to make it to the Bells' Female ends of the clips. After cutting the holes (location behind each elbow) I sewed them (embroidery like) to reinforce the holes from tearing with use.

1%20Shoulder%20bell%20Clip%20Hole_zps7cq

2%20Shoulder%20bell%20Clip%20Hole_zpsdeh

I then measured where I Should cut two more holes for each side of the cape to hold the Bicep straps for the lower section of the bells. This would also double as a means to hold the cape forward and not fall back when lifting ones arm.

7%20Shoulder%20bell%20Clip%20Hole_zpsgke

6%20Shoulder%20bell%20Clip%20Hole_zpsln6

I then used 80 Grit sand paper and weathered and frayed them both. I think they look great! I then did the same thing with the cape at a later date, my son helped with his, what he calls ,"artistic Vision", However I am only done weathering half the Cape with 80 grit papper and I hope to be done soon.

After that all that is left is painting the weathering and painting the Axe. and if I have time upgrading the mask.

Smoke damage continued, As you can see I have about 3-4 feet left to do on the outside of the cape and then I have the whole inside of the cape to do before I move onto the Second stage of the burn weathering. Then Scorched Weathering. More to come soon!
