  1. Apparently my account went inactive so I am re-post in here to get my account fully activated. DS-7834, Great Lakes Garrison.
  2. I think I lost my 501st access.... DS 7834 of Great Lakes Garrison.
  3. They may have moved it, our designation is no longer SL but DS.
  4. The four way stretch shiny or matte vinyl would be the two chooses, can you get samples of these to see them in person? If so I would go that route before deciding. I know a lot of Mara'a have the shiny PVC and I have a matte PVC. Also, check in with them and see if they can do the back zipper as a "hidden" zipper. Other than grinding that out it looks like it could be modified nicely, you will want to make sure if you do ho this route that you give yourself some room in the fit to add the piping and the quilting. Hope that helps.
  5. Are you talking about the front buckles?
  6. If you want to try purchasing the fabric online there are a few sites that sell fabric that is four way stretch and suitable.
  7. If you mean like a jersey kind of knit then that would not work.
  8. Is it a four way stretch fabric? Is it coated in something to make it look like leather?
  9. Riding boots would work great, make sure they are comfortable and don't pinch your feet.
  10. I am so glad you were able to get approved!
  11. In my opinion I think this wig will work for you, just make sure it is not overly curly. And be sure to post before and after pictures, I am curious as to what the wig will look like out of the box and then after your styling. I have been thinking about switching to using a wig for mine instead of dying it all the time.
  12. That you for taking a look into this and sharing what you found.
  13. Sorry for not replying sooner. I think that based on my picture I posted as a reference (it is in the comics), that if you attach the knee pads it should be accepted. Maybe what we can do is contact the LMO who is reviewing your costume.
  14. Looks good, welcome to the Flagship.
  15. The comic ones were not rigid, from the photo's they looked rigid to me. What were they made of? Also, for your other shins that you had pictured I did find a comic picture that looked much like what you have except that the knee pads are attached to the shins. Maybe there is a way for you to attach your's to the new shins?
  16. The photo you embedded in the thread is the prior shin guards. Are the new ones that are the comic version pictured in the link you posted? If so then that should satisfy the point that the LMO brought up.
  17. Nice job, I think this looks really well done and it looks like you have everything needed. I say this is ready to be submitted for approval.
  18. http://www.spandexhouse.com/search-resu ... inyl+matte Try the Black Vinyl Matte, this is what I used. If you are unsure there are a few other items on this site you can order sample swatches of to see what you would prefer.
  19. I have always loved this version of Mara. Love your progress so far.
  20. Welcome to the boards! Your partner wouldn't also happen to have a Rebel Pilot costume as well and went to Dragon Con this year? If so I was the Mara costumer that talked to him.
  21. I think it looks just like the brown cape only hooded, black and no clasp that I can see. although to keep it on better I would try and put a small hook that's hidden. It almost looks like the cloak Luke wears to Jabba's Palace.....
  22. I bought the matte vinyl from that site. Pretty sure if it was the leather looking one.
  23. I hope I will get a chance to see you in this costume. Shadow's of the Empire had to be my favorite Star wars book back in the day, as well as the video game.
  24. Check out some of tutorials down at the bottom of the forums here, i think the fiberglass ones are Pam's shin-guards.
  25. Welcome to the threads! I just recently completed my own Mara Jade. The places to look for supplies would be for cowl and/or cape fabric I would look at any local fabric store, what I used for mine was the raw silk and then dyed it, but that is more on the pricey side. For the bodysuit I don't think you want to skimp on that one so I would suggest either the shiny stuff everyone has or the matte stuff I purchased or you may get really lucky at finding something in a store. Just make sure that it is a 4-way stretch and not bathing suit material. The leather for the belt and harness can be purchased from any leather working store, the place a lot of us use is online and has some brick and mortar places around the states called Tandy Leather. For the harness back plate and cloak clasp they can be made easily enough with creating a mold and casting the pieces in Resin. Boats I would look in clearance sections to see if there are any left or try online if you don't mind buying shoes there. For the gun, it will depend on which style you prefer. You can either make your own with wood or plastic pieces, buy a Hasbro Hand Solo blaster and modify it, buy an air-soft and modify it or some people sell the assassin style one fully made. For the shin guards, you can either make them yourself from scratch or buy a set of swat shin guards and modify them. Depending on what look you are going for depends on if they go all the way around your leg. For the Shannon shoot it is the modified swat gear and doesn't go all the way around, but for some of the comic book looks it does. My suggestion if you haven't already is take a look at other people build threads because there are so many brilliant ideas out there that people have utilized along the way to completing there Mara's.
