  1. I thought I’d been a member of TFE since like 2008 but I got an email saying I’m not. Lol please grant me access. Thank you! https://www.501st.com/members/displaymember.php?userID=10364&costumeID=108
  2. Here's what I've done so far. I just have the hem on the outer dress, the veil and paint the gloves left to do. I made the sash 4 inches wide. It looks a little wide to me but, it's not on the person that will be wearing it. I'll decide if it still looks too wide when I fit it on her.
  3. I was thinking it was possibly about 4 inches wide. Thanks for the info! I'll look around the fabric store and see what kind of buckle I can find that won't show.
  4. I've followed all the wonderful information in these threads and Pam's tutorial to get the under and outer dresses made. I'm about to work on the veil and the belt/sash. I need a little more information on the belt, please. How long and how wide have you made your belt? I know the length depends on the size of your waist, but, a general idea would be helpful. and how wide should it be? Also, how do you attach it and close it?

    Off-White hood

I wear this costume so often that I think I'm going to do all of the optional versions of gloves/cowls. Just to make sure I read it all correctly: off white hood/cowl with off white gloves-- Hood up with goggles on head, hood down where do the goggles go? black hood/cowl with black arm bands--is the black hood ever seen up over the head or just worn as a cowl? longer black gloves with no cape or hood--are these gloves gauntlet style or just longer gloves hitting between the wrist and elbow?

    Off-White hood

I have enough raw silk left over from making the cape to do the hood. I just assumed the gloves were cloth from looking at the photos. It's hard to tell from comic book pics. Ebay is probably the best bet to find off white leather glove. Thanks for the help! Karen
  7. I'm thinking about adding the off-white hood and gloves to my Mara Jade costume. I've always worn the raw silk cape and black gloves, but when I wear it at cons with a lanyard on there is so much around my neck that it bothers me (lanyard/badge, cape with clasp and goggles) I thought the hood with the goggles on my head would free up the neck area some, plus the harness would actually show for a change and the off white cloth gloves would be much cooler than the leather black ones. What type of fabric is best for the hood? would the raw silk I used for the cape work? Are the gloves cloth?
  8. After seeing this new Gentle Giant figure I am very interested in seeing this female Stormtrooper armor become cannon. http://www.jediinsider.com/index.php?ca ... emid=13483 I believe there are actually 5 references for it. Star Wars: Legacy 4: Noob - Comic Book Hasbro Star Wars: The Legacy Collection (Pack: Joker Squad) - Action Figure Legacy Era Campaign Guide - RPG Guide The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia Gentle Giant Female Stormtrooper Statue We have been discussing this on my garrison boards and there are several of us interested in making this costume. Is there any chance for this to see the light of 501st approval?
  9. spandex is a great idea. I will have to get it online, though. I looked at Hancocks yesterday and left the store mad because of their terrible selection. I guess I'll have to make all costumes out of fleece or quilting fabric if I'm forced to use Hancocks. LOL I found a dance pattern on EBay that I'm going to try to use for this costume. It's kinda low in the back, but we can't see the back of her dress anyway. I'm going to attempt to alter the pattern, but I feel like I'm too much of a novice sewer to be successful at altering a pattern that much. I'm planing to do a mock up first. What skating leotard pattern did you use? The pattern I found is McCall's M5136. I'm not sure if it's an older pattern or not, but I found it on EBay
  10. Yeah, I don't see Mara in satin or pink. Last October I changed my Slave Leia costume to pink for a convention where we were doing a breast cancer fund raiser. It was very successful and someone suggested that I make my Mara Jade costume go pink for the next year. I'm pretty sure I would be the Emperor's Hand next target if I dressed her in pink. The fabric store choices here are terrible. All we have now is Hancocks and it's more crafts and decorator fabric than apparel fabric. I'm hoping I can find what I need without having to resort to online.
  11. I was wondering what type of fabric has been used to make the skirt and scarf for this costume? Any suggestions?
