1. If that's the case, then you would have to trim the over-the-knee boots so they are only knee high, or for the riding boots you would have to remove the ankle detail (little belts and ring thingy).

Sinya Costume

Oh, wow. I love this! Really well done.
3. Great pics And OMG, that sabre duel was epic!!!
4. If you decide to add horizontal lines to the panels (because they are optional), you could stitch them on or paint them. Do whatever you think looks best. Those arm wraps look pretty good, but will likely need to be modified to get the look exactly right. It may just be easier to make them yourself to get the right shape and details. As for the hexagon, looking over ladyb's pics, I'm guessing 2-3" across? Do some mockups to test out the sizes and see what works best.
5. I don't think that having a bit of a gap between the buckle and the belts will be an issue. But yes, you don't want to see a bar there. And you'll need to remove those 4 small bars/springs as well (circled in the pic):
6. I think the skirt is a good match. You will likely need to make the shirt yourself to get the right shade of grey.
7. So far so good. I'm assuming you intend to put the wraps for the torso and legs over the blue bodysuit and blue leggings?
8. Hey, I see a Todd Boushh helmet in progress in the background!
9. This is looking really nice! The improvements you've made to the collar and skirt look good. A couple of things that still stand out to me before submitting for approval: - You will want to do something about the belt buckle so that the middle bar is hidden. We shouldn't be able to see it. - The edges of the collar at the shoulders do flare out a bit and should be tacked down in some way so that the edge is flush with the shirt. Great job on this so far!
10. View A of this Kwik Sew pattern would probably be a good guideline: http://kwiksew.mccall.com/filebin/pdf/K ... /K3052.pdf Looks like about 2 yards should be good, but I'm like Aysel and like to get extra just in case
11. Welcome frankie! LOL this is a great start and while Ventress is definitely a tricky costume, it's not unattainable! ladyb is our resident expert on this version of Ventress so hopefully she can give you some pointers. Nonetheless, I'll add my 2 cents Your buckle definitely needs to be bigger. When I was making my Sash-belt buckle I needed to figure out a good size proportionate to me, so I cut discs out of paper, held them up to my waist in the mirror and compared that to the reference pics. I had to do this a few times until I found a size that looked right. For the shirt, are the stripes you have now removable? As per the CRL, the stripes are optional (states "may have"), or I would do like ladyb and keep them as small pin stripes. For the collar, the best results I've seen are when the collar is sewn directly to the shirt - do-able if the collar is made of pleather/leatherette fabric, but can be problematic if the collar is made of real leather when it comes to giving it a wash. Personally, I find your collar a bit long and would suggest taking some of the length out of it if possible. It also appears to be missing the horizontal lines (seams) along the chest/shoulders/back sections, which will need to be added. For the makeup, here's a good read on doing the baldcap http://theflagshipeclipse.com/forum/vie ... =70&t=1068 How you apply the makeup will depend on what kind of makeup you're using. If you're using liquid makeup (water or alcohol-based) I would recommend applying it with an airbrush - light, even coats is key. And patience! Lots of patience Good makeup takes time. A good baldcap and makeup application takes upwards of 4 hours in my experience. Good luck and looking forward to more pics
12. I've been eyeing this one for Mara Jade and other costumes: http://arda-wigs.com/collections/matilda
13. Ahh, I see. Didn't realize the collar was made of leather. That's a good question then. In so far as I know, most Ventress costumers have used fabric or pleather for their collar, so it's easily washable. Mine is made of pleather and sewn directly to the shirt. I don't have experience with leather in this application, so can only offer my best guess. You would want to use something that connects all the way around the collar, so I don't think snaps would work because you would see gaps in between. The only thing I can think of is to try velcro, but I'd do some tests first on scrap leather + fabric. It'd be tricky to get the placing just right, but I think it could work. As for the addition of more horizontal lines, just adding a couple more seams could work, but again I'd test it on some scrap leather first to make sure it looks right Anyone else have a suggestion? *looks around*
14. Can't wait to see this at C6! What day are you planning to wear it?
15. Great to see another Ventress Excellent job on the bald cap and makeup! Looks great!! The only improvement I can suggest would be about the collar: I'd love to see a couple more horizontal lines sewn through it, and I believe it needs to be sewn to the shirt at the bottom as opposed to just resting on top of the shirt.
16. Not to worry, your website is fine It's the artefiesta site that triggers my antivirus. When I go there, my antivirus gives me this: There's nothing you can do. The owner of the website would have to fix it.
17. That link triggers my anti-virus.... Not sure if it's safe.
18. Just one picture?! You tease us More pics please!
19. For the baldcap, what source you use will depend on where you live, though you can buy them easily online. As for what kind, I have used both the latex Woochie cap and the plastic Glatzen cap. A Woochie cap does the job, but I find I get better results with a Glatzen cap because it is thinner. Definitely have a read through Sakara's tutorial on applying a baldcap, located in the Makeup and Appliances section of the forum. Good luck!
20. Good luck with your build and looking forward to pictures For the sash belt, use whatever material you are comfortable with. You will want to use something that has weight to it (like vinyl, leather or the like) so that the sashes hang nicely from the buckle. In my own experience, my first sash belt was made from doubled up marine vinyl that I painted the design on to. If you use vinyl you will want to make sure the paint you use is made to stick to vinyl. I used model paint hoping it would stick but after only a couple of wears it looked like this: For my second belt I used tooling leather. I tooled the design into the leather and then painted it with leather dye. I took a tooling course from my local leather shop and learned how to work with the leather properly. I mixed several dye colours to get the exact shade of blueish purple I wanted, and then this was painted on using an airbrush. For the silver I used Testors model paint. The belt has stood up much better to wear and tear and was totally worth the effort!
