  1. It's in a different thread, but I wanted to record here my Raspberry Pi setup for the voice. I haven't had a chance to play with the multi-push yet, but I do have the button, so it should be a matter of time before I get it wired up and tested.
  2. Well, yet again, life has gotten in the way. I'm still working with the seamstress, and should have the first fitting soon. As an aside, I've not had a lot of luck finding a lightsaber that should work that is not $300+. Anyone found any decent sources for a weathered basic hilt that would work? I've got my Vader hilt, and I'm sure most would not notice, but I know it'll bother me.
  3. Sure, I have the ZIP file in my Google Drive, at the link below. I forget where I got the original MP3 file, it was a long file with all the different KOTOR2 clips mashed into one. I split them all out into individual clips using Audacity The filenames are broken down as: #[SML].mp3 # has no real significance, gave them one-ups as I cut them [SML] only matters in the multi-button script for Short (under 4 seconds), Medium (4-7 seconds), and Long (7+ seconds) tracks; if use use the single push it plays any sound in the directory regardless of length If the link doesn't work let me know! Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1hj7CQmV-8xVZMJLceK2VgscHNPEcmZLW
  4. Things have gone idle a bit. The seamstress has a delay with moving and I had little time to spare this spring/summer. Now that life is mostly back to normal I hope to continue work in earnest on this one over the next few months.
  5. My seamstress is still working hard and I'll be going for a first fitting shortly. She has relocated to a new place of work which has slowed things down. In the meantime I've tweaked the code for my Raspberry Pi and it's working beautifully so far. I just have to integrate the switch I got to the GPIO connector and I'll have a working demo. I categorized the sound clips by the legnth of the clip: short (under 4 seconds), medium (4-7 seconds) and long (8+ seconds). If I press it once, it plays a short clip, if I press it twice it plays a medium clip, if pressed three times it players a long clip. Aside from that, just in a holding patter as per my first sentence.
  6. Lastly, may not be able to tell the difference from the glove photo above, and the one in this post, but I gave them a couple of coats of neatsfoot oil and they really loosened up. They have got a nice worn and broken in feel now.
  7. And the hood was sanded a bit and now being painted flat black. And here it is mostly dry after the first coat. I think it may be enough with one as just need to darken it up to not show through the fabric. Will look at it again once it fully cures.
  8. Picked up the belt today and it's looking very nice. Accidentally made the belt too small, but a simple extension in the back and it fits nicely.
  9. Mask and hood arrived, and they look fantastic. Picking up the belt tomorrow (Saturday 4 March) and then it'll be up to the seamstress to work her magic. Unfortunately she is booked until 20 March so I'll be waiting for a bit to get this started.
  10. Thanks for that, they should be fixed now. I guess posting them in Tapatalk didn't work as well as from my desktop.
  11. It can always be touchy to provide feedback, especially if you know it isn't going to be all good. But, with that in mind, detachment mentors/gurus, should be working to help you to get approval. The ones here are definitely meeting that criteria from my experiences so far! Glad it got worked out and looking forward to seeing updated pictures. There have been people that have made far far more expensive and complex mistakes than this in other detachments (e.g. SLD). Inconvenient? Absolutely, but overall I'd say it's a win.
  12. The thumbs on the gloves were really long (as you may have noticed in the above photos of them) so I got them trimmed up and they look much nicer now. They were made from sheepskin, and they are getting a nice worn look the more I wear them. I really like the way sheepskin wears making it look well used and worn. All that is left is for the hood and mask to show up from @Twi'lek Pam, which are in transit; and the belt which I am getting from the local leather worker on Saturday.
  13. At least it's an easy fix. I know Wiki's aren't the greatest for source material, but they provide a lot of background and detail for Nihilus. For example: That defines a lot of the build of the character, so when constructing him, remember he's not a corporeal body it's his spirit encased in the costume. It's a great read, and I think it helps provide a context when playing the role. Source: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darth_Nihilus
  14. Quilted sleeves look very nice, and most of it looks nicely proportioned to you, good job with the alterations on that front. My thoughts on the hood are that it is lacking the squared frame that is required. I personally think the hood material will too thin (you can easily see the green behind it) so you'll have trouble getting it to lay just right. If you are able to get the material to sit on the cat's ears it'll help keep the squared frame. To my eye they look to be sitting a bit low on your head, maybe adjust them to sit higher on your head? Also, is the hood attached to the top of the mask? Some of the pictures look like there is a gap between the two. Sliding up the cats ears may help with getting the two pieces to look like they are attached more clearly. CRL points: The hood is attached to the top edge of the mask above the silver decoration on the forehead, this blocks the top of the head from view. The hood drapes and rests on the costumer's chest, creating a squared frame around the face.
  15. Raw black silk is in hand. Just need to wait until hood arrives (in transit) and seamstress is ready to go. Will probably be mid-March before seamstress is available to work. With flash: Without flash: Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  16. I will have the material on Friday, or the very latest of the weekend. The seamstress will be starting work on all the soft parts end of March. Gloves arrived today. They are a couple of millimeters smaller than I would have preferred, but will still work very nicely. The sheepskin is very soft and comfortable.
  17. I know this is a bit old reply, but I also wear glasses and am in Canada. My wife found a shop online that makes sports/basketball glasses and they have been fantastic! There are places online that make them at very affordable prices, even with CAD conversion and shipping. Because they are wrap-around, they are very low profile and fit nicely in tighter spaces. I use them comfortable inside my Royal Guard helmet, and my soon-to-be-approved Vader helmet. I will also be using them underneath my Nihilus mask. Just a thought, there are some places that sell them for very affordable prices. The other nice perk with them is they rest against the face just above the eyebrows which is very nice at keeping sweat from running down into your eyes.
  18. I already own a number of UA shirts as I spend a lot of time in the heat and cold with tackle football. I have no UA-type pants that would keep my legs black. I have: Two long-sleeve Cold Gear for really cold days. I would die of heat and sweat very quickly; and Two tank-top Heat Gear for hot days, which could work, but they are reserved for regular football use and have the smell of years of sweaty use already. So that meant getting a UA-type short-sleeve shirt, pants, and blackout hood, which was far more expensive than the entire morphsuit, which was $14 Canadian with $6 shipping.
  19. Instead of ordering just the blackout hood, I decided to get a full-body morphsuit. For $20 Canadian shipped I couldn't say no. It saves needing Under Armor shirt/pants and a hood and a lot cheaper. Most of the reviews said the lycra spandex is quite breathable, but I may cut/hem at the ankle and elbows, but not sure.
  20. Black raw silk ordered from Dharma Trading. Black kona and batting for the sleeves purchased locally. Once the silk arrives, will get it to the seamstress and then wait for the mask hood to finish the soft parts. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
  21. Gloves have been ordered, belt commissioned, and got the material estimate from the seamstress. I was estimated at 24.5 yards of material; and 2 yards of material with 1 yard batting for the sleeves. I'm hoping to firm up plans for material soonest.
  22. Found some gloves that look fantastic and look very similar to what others have gotten in the past. Price is quite nice too. https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/266225256/black-deerskin-leather-gauntlet-medieval
  23. If it needs to be lined, I may lean against that then, as it will significantly increase the price. That's too bad, as I really like the look of the material. Back to start looking for something else... @kracker98 used black raw silk... did it require being lined? As I'm sure you know, good material in Canada is often not cheap and the duty they slap on online orders at the border is often ridiculous.
  24. The way I do the WIPs I learned from another detachment mentor over in Sovereign Protectors. It's all well and good to create a WIP that has an introduction and then jumps right to final pictures, but the problem is that it doesn't provide anyone else with the ability to learn anything from it. By the time my Nihilus is approved, this thread will hopefully be full of questions/answers, a final list of materials/items/vendors, pictures of muslin mock-ups (if required), and more. This can be a lot of work by the poster, but it provides a pay-it-forward kind of approach to help guide and teach future costumers. Anyways, don't mean to drag on, but hopefully I'll end up with some diamonds in all the coal.
  25. So was looking up material, and came across some recommendations for black raw silk. Was looking at some options, and wanted to know what the thoughts were on this. Reviews for it note that it is pitch black or really dark black, but it's hard to tell exactly. https://www.dharmatrading.com/fabric/silk/black-raw-silk-35mm-45-inch.html
