  1. Generally a pretty good order is, 1. skirt and shirt 2. head covering you wear under the mask (tuck into collar) 3. Armor plates 4. Sashes 5. cape 6. Cowl 7. Gauntlets (vanbraces and hand armor) and gloves (tuck gloves into vanbraces) 8. mask As you get into it a few times though, you'll figure out what works best for you.
  2. As long as you get the front and back plates lined up right, you can adjust the height after by adjusting the shoulder straps. Worst case scenario, you can redo where you have the velcro with a bit of cleanup. It is a bit of trial and error, but you are going to have to try to put it on and then adjust as needed.
  3. So if you look at the second to last picture, that diagonal stripe of velcro on the back plate matches a piece on the reverse of that strap. In the shot where it is all attached, you can see how that strap comes up diagonally. As to the parts I leave attached. I leave the cowl and cape attached to the breastplate and the sashes attached to the ring.
  4. Alright, so here is my setup from the video. My pieces are very similar to yours. I have my cowl and cape attached to the inside of my breastplate. Again, this is just so I can get into it quicker without having to style soft parts as much. The plates should line up like this more or less and the strap from the ring comes up onto the top back plate. The last image shows more or less where I have my Velcro. To store it, I just flip the back plate 180 degrees so it sits inside the breastplate and wrap the soft parts around it. Hope that helps.
  5. Hey there. That was my video in the OP. What the others have said is correct; the front and back plate have shoulder straps that connect them. If yours does not have these yet, glue a black strap to each side of the chest and back so that you can tie these together at your shoulders to adjust how low the armor hangs. If you have a Wicked Armor setup, these straps are already there. Once you have someone help you tie those to the right level, then pop your head between the straps (kind of like putting on an apron) so that it drapes in front and behind. You then velcro the pieces together at the sides. I use a big pad of velcro where the plates overlap and a thin strip on the black leather straps that come off the ring and go up and towards the back. My setup is a bit more complex than it needs to be since my cowl and cape are affixed to my chest plate so it all goes on together. That is not the standard setup, it was just something I did to get into it more quickly. For most setups, once you get the armor on, you can then worry about arranging the soft goods. I'll try to get some pics in a day or two when I have a chance to help.
  6. I am approved with both versions of the wicked armor Nihilus. You have to add to both a bit to do it. The KOTOR2 mask they make would probably be approvable, but I changed the center detail to match the CRL better. You will also need to add the chest padding. I used a sheet of open cell foam, cut to fit. I recommend a different obi, but the one they sew into the skirt is approvable. In all cases, the wicked armor will give you the materials to do it, but go through the CRL and make it match up once you have it in hand.
  7. Thanks. I just got word that I got approved. 4th costume in the legion, 3rd in TFE. The gloves came from Wicked Armor. They have them on their site. They have a nice profile, but that is probably the first part of this I will upgrade, followed by the Obi.
  8. Hey all. I have been rocking an approved COTF Nihilus for at least a couple years. I love it, but I wanted to try out the old school version. Went with the Wicked Armor version with a modded mask (the one they offer has too big of circles on the details compared to the cover art from KOTO II. I used foam cut to shape for the breast plate. As much as it pains me not to use my fancy Nihilus saber, went with a plain KOTOR hilt. Not wild about the breast plate-looks kind of like a pot belly- but it is a lot cooler than COTF so should work fir warmer weather, which was kind of the idea. Also got a bit cheeky with the first mask off image. Thoughts?
  9. The boots are hard to nab a closeup of, but flat sole, maybe slight heel (image2) with definite top strap (image 1) as far as I can see. In some ways it kind of looks like all black crocs and socks, the idea of which is totally hilarious to me.
  10. Agreed. Attached at shoulders to cape and hanging down the front.
  11. That just looks like lighting to me. If you catch the highlights on the wrinkles farther back, it looks like the same color. Especially if you look at the third image where you can see the bottom of the front.
  12. Close ups of some of the differences. Forgot to mention sleeve fabric is bunched at the top of the vanbraces (see first image). Third image is for the boots. For the record, The model is 360 and is featured in at least 2 cinematic, the gallery, and as a playable character.
  13. Necropsting for a good reason. I have been looking at this costume for a bit. I have the COTF approved, am submitting KOTOR II for approval soon, and would like to do this as a trifecta. So far as I can see, it is similar to the KOTOR version with difference as mentioned above (gold detail on mask, padded gauntlets, back sash around the butt). I would also add the following: cowl comes to a point in the front, chest padding/armor is not present, glove is form fitting (more like elastic fabric than leather, also the padding looks more like a vanbrace to me than part of the glove) boots may or may not have a top strap, obi is wider, and saber is very definitely not the same. I would argue new CRL though one should be able to modify a KOTOR without too much trouble. Iā€™m going to build it just so I can ditch the chest armor.
  14. Good to know. In the meantime, boot weathering.
  15. Thanks. So once I get this all sorted, how does one apply for level two certification?
  16. Boot upgrade. You can see one of the old boots on my other foot in one of the shots. Still need to black out the rivets. Last shot is a before image. These were motorcycle harness boots.
  17. first prototype complete. Needs glaze.
  18. So recently, I have been all about making holocrons. I think carrying one around with me adds to the costume. After I got some practice, I thought it would be fun to design a Nihilus holocron. In the comics, there is such a thing. I saw it first when Darth Krayt was using it to try to get advice from some of the old Sith lords on how to overcome his parasitic armor. The design for the nihilus is really vague as it is in the background and he is using several. Some of the ones in the shot are pyramids and some are tetrahedrons. The color is dark red to purple and the designs are pretty hard to discern. I got to thinking about what a Nihilus holocron would look like. I wanted some text but I wanted it in old Sith rather than arabesh. I went with a modified version of the quote about him from Visas Marr "I am a wound in the Force, more presence than flesh, and in my wake life dies". For the design, I went with a center circuit that looks like a vortex or explosion in keeping with the theme of the character and an accent featuring a symbol for the triumvirate. I am going to go with a tetrahedron to further distinguish it from the holocron of heresies which is the most common holocron design I see out and about. This is what it all looks like when I put it together. Next step is to prototype it which I will be doing in the next day or two.
  19. That is awesome. I may have to look into some of that leg armor then. As to the saber, I may just start another thread. After looking around a bit, I think there is still some discussion to be had there. For now, I will stick with one. As for the rest of the upgrades, added some burnt umber on top of the copper at the bottom of the kidney plate. Darkened it up nicely. made it thin on the detail so it stands out. Need to hit the whole thing with some gloss to give it a uniform shine. I was looking into the boots. Seems square toed boots are generally sold as cavalry boots. A lot of civil war reenactment places sell them. I will be picking up a pair. Any suggestions on the silver weathering?
  20. This is an interesting rabbit hole. There is an inconsistency with the video and text references. The saber in purple is clearly the one Revan sports in TOR. The literature on that saber says he built it during his retraining and he carried it ever since. Since his retraining would have occurred during KOTOR1, this should have been his saber, but the flashback of him in KOTOR2 has him using the one you posted pics of which is a generic. There are promo pics of him from TOR using the sabers I have pictured, but the armor is the Reborn armor not the original. The black series figure has the same two sabers with the original armor but black series are not acceptable resources as I understand it (never was sure why) and the vast majority of the unofficial art has him using the same two. I guess I will just go with the one saber, but truth be told, I will probobly carry the other as well from time to time. I think it is much more recognizable as Revan's second saber than the one in the KOTOR 2 game files. I wonder though if any of the official artists are responsible for any of the large number of pictures with original armor and reborn hilt.
  21. Wait what? All reference materials I have ever seen for dual wield Revan have him using two different sabers that match those designs: one purple and one red. I have never seen an image of him using two red sabers of the same design. Am I missing something?
  22. Next step in the continuing quest to update my Revan: accent paint on bottom part of kidney armor. Bottom stripe is darker than it looks, it is just shined in direct light. Think I will still need to darken it up a bit though.
  23. Next update: accurate sabers for both hands.
  24. Continuing the Revan upgrades in keeping with the new CRL. This time it is the raised doodad on the back of the kidney plate. Did it in clay and painted over it with the touch up paint from wicked armor. A bit more touch up needed, but I think it will work. Need to paint the whole lower portion dark copper anyways.
