You know when I originally saw these guys in the trailer I thought they would be all baddies. But now that I know the story I think that these guys would be best submitted to the rebel legion

Hello to you! Checking in! I think you have come to the right place. I myself started my Kylo Ren build here unknowing as to which detachment would take the costume.
Youve come here and made this board thats a great start, so we can give you some great advice I hope!
Please feel free to build your costume and submit to your GML. How far along are you?
I myself was going to make this costume at one time and had begun a lot of research. If you need any advice as this costume will be a Legion 1st please dont hesitate to shoot me a message or ask any questions.
I myself was going to use a prosthetic. I'm a 35 yr old woman not a older gentleman so I would have needed that.

Howdy howdy, Dawn Bright your helpful LMO here. I am sure a lot of this has already been covered by lovely Nina and a few others.
Yes Sim Aloo has no Detachment Affiliation.
Yes there are talks of creating a home (Detachment) for the Costumes with no CRL. There are a few.. Bazine...Hondo... Sim.. Ithano and thats just off the top of my head.
If you are starting a Sim costume maybe....Sithlords are probably your best bet to get feedback? When I started building Kylo Ren I made WIPS both here and in SLD (sithlords) however but yes SLD took the costume as its movies.
There is no CRL because the costume was made before the rule that a costume could not be approved without a CRL was made. So we have no CRL. If someone applied with one your GML will post it to the appropriate section and will be looked at by the LMO's.
I know (have seen) a build thread at some point on one of those two boards. It should be in the research section. The one builder (The Legion 1st) spent a lot of time and research on his costume.

Three of them are vastly different: standard red vest, standalone vest, and black/red jacket. Most of the other variations (zipper vest, short red jacket) can fall under the standard red vest CRL. Related to this, would it be easier to refer to the versions based on the artist? The red vest originated from Larroca, Granov did the black/red jacket, and Walker does the standalone.
As far as written evidence goes for the tattoo thing, my communication with the editor was via a text message and I'm not entirely comfortable screenshoting that for here.
When Im wording it im trying to think how an applicant would find it easiest.
As a person thinking about "making" costumes if I looked up the CRL to see which Aphra Id want to do I would personally want to look up the variant by description and or color.
So using the names of the artists to refer to the costumes would be very confusing to an applicant and a GML when judging or making. Just my two cents.

Making observations (many already addressed) to clear up any confusion some may have. Feel free to agree or disagree. Please provide reference or proof.
1. There are 4 different/varient vest costumes.
2. Two of them are vastly different. From the cap to the holster. (This is ignoring the tattoo issue.) And that's "simple burgundy vest" and "Burgundy lined vest". (Or as noted above Vader comic and standalone)
3. There is no standard set for the tattoos - does someone have written evidence of this? I think we may need it.
4. For the "basic red vest" CRL an optional of red blanket stitched 1 inch apart lines OR a zipper optional can appear? I know it's only in a couple panels but someone could come through and try and have an entirely new crl made for a zipper and I vote we just take care of that now.

Her pants look exactly like Han's in the comics (ok her entire outfit does).
On that, I would definitely not say that are denim and some the same fabric style as Han IRL but with a more fitted look made from a stretch fabric in the same dark or navy blue the RL call for in the CRL.
The hair length can be listed to be in the range of what the comics cover, from what I can tell to be between shoulder and chest length, but it does need to be black and it does need to state a hair length. Other CRLs do state color and length, as with Admiral Daala, Nyna Calixte, DoI Isard, and even our own Mara Jade and her variants. CRLs within TFE are being rewritten as we speak to take things like this into consideration.
I agree with Dawn about the thigh strap that attaches to the holster from the belt. It needs to hang more separately from the belt at an angle.
Since there are some pretty major discrepancies between the Vader comic version (which I'm assuming yours is based on with the vest design you have) and her standalone comic, it'll probably be a good idea to mention this and adjust the two CRLs accordingly, or break one CRL into two versions similar to how Tiers work for accuracy.
Example being
For Vader comic version: the vest is a simple fitted red form with epaulets located on the shoulders and no additional embellishments.
For Standalone version: the vest is a simple fitted red vest with two pockets located at the lower front of each side of the vest. There is also a piped seam outlining the front of the vest and extends from the bottom of the vest to the side seams and up to the chest.

As far as the pants go. I wrote Jean because it is just so easy to get stretch jeans. The color of her pants and design always looks Jean colored throughout her costumes. yes her pants are tight fitting. But theres still wrinkles. To me they look like stretch jean?

Sorry for the delay in replying. It's been a busy week.
For the hair, I think the length thing you want added is a little ridiculous. Bangs are easy enough to add/tweak but hair length? There are some CRLs where hair color isn't even specified.
It's been a very long time since I made the vest so I'll have to dig up reference later when I have my comics on hand. If I can't find it, the angle thing is a simple enough fix/edit.
Tattoos: What I did for my sleeve was an approximation of hers. I drew the pattern while looking at multiple references. While you clearly disagree, I think that tattoos that look like hers are best for the CRL since again, this is a comic and the artwork changes constantly even with the same artist. And yes the sleeve can get pulled up high enough on me that you can't see where the lines stop as seen in the pictures of the costume I'd posted prior.
Holster: I'm unsure what you mean regarding the leg strap? If it was any further down my leg, it'd be around my knee...
Pants: I disagree about making them denim. Mine aren't and I worry that noting denim within the CRL will make people think they can apply with standard jeans which they definitely should not be.
I dunno which CRLS we dont have the hair color/design added in... cant think of any. I know even the Rebels are working standard by standard to add this detail, both in color, design, cut and shape.
The more recent CRLS written do seem to all have hair length, details and color added in. Do you have any examples where we didnt do hair?
We even argued over Kylo Rens hair recently (i argued brown they argued black) its just something that we add so that folks dont "do what they want" and end up being held up by a GML The CRLS are a guideline to avoid confusion. Just because something isnt in a standard or CRL doesnt mean that its unneeded or should not be done. But laying out important details and not leaving out things is just a good method to have.
On the hair length, color and details I did that because Aphra has so many different costumes and varying length of hair. It seems to lengthen and we should make note when something is correlating and changing. She has 3 different Vest costumes and all three seem to have different lenghs of hair.

Aviator Cap

The aviator cap is light tan in color and made from leather or a leather like material -
The cap fits snug on the costumer’s head -
A padded, circular shape sits on either side of the head over the ears with visible stitching around the edge where they connect to the cap -
The chin strap should have two small tapering buckles at the end and is worn unbuckled. -
The strap should hang no lower than the collar bone. - The front of the cap comes to a soft point at the center and arches around the headline
Hair
-
Hair is black in color. -
Hair is loose beneath the cap with at least some hair visible on the sides. -
Hair is no longer than the shoulders - Hair i
- Shaggy unkempt bangs hang from the front of the aviator cap and sit at the sides
Goggles
-
The goggles are oval shaped - The frames of the goggles are a dark red and match the color of the vest
- The strap should be black or burgundy and is ¾ of an inch wide
- The goggles should be worn on top of the costumer’s head and above the cap.
- Two silver hooks with a line down the center on either side of the goggles.
Vest
-
The vest is a dark red (wine or burgundy) in color and made from a medium weight fabric with no visible closure. - The vest is designed as follows:
- *A line of trim made from the the same material as the vest around all edges of the jacket including sleeves.
- **The seams at the sides under the arm are lined with a single strip of trim
- **Two lines around the bottom hem.
- *A single line of trim verticle on the shoulder blades.
- **A single line of trim sits vertically across the breast

The back of the vest ends at the costumers back arch. -
The vest is worn open .
Shirt
-
The shirt is a light to medium weight natural fiber, -
The shirt sleeves end at the costumers upper bicep. -
The collar is popped. -
Color can be white, off-white, or cream
Optional: A long sleeved shirt of the same cut may be substituted(do you have reference for this design?)
Tattoo-
Tattoos (via sleeve, make-up, or otherwise) mimicking Aphra’s circuitry design in black must be on the right arm. -
These should be an assortment of straight lines which end in circles with a dot in the center -
The lines and circles are of equal width and be no wider than half a centimeter -

Gloves

Gloves are black, wrist-length, of a leather-like material. -
Gloves are fingerless and cut off above the finger joint. -
A band around the arm joint no wider than 3 inches.
Pants

The pants should be plain denim and tight-fitting . -
Color is a varying shade of blue from steel blue to bright blue.
Boots
-
The boots are black with low heels of an inch or less. -
No buckles or laces are visible. Zippers are permitted on the insides. -
The boots are knee-high in height
Belt and Holster
-
The belt is made from plain, un-decorated brown or Dark Brown leather and is 2.5 inches wide. -
The plain silver buckle is octangular and wide. The buckle sits flush with the belt and is 3.5 inches long, the buckle can be up to 1/4 of an inch wider than the belt itself. -
The holster is made from the same plain brown leather. There is one narrow strap to secure the blaster and a small strap attached to the belt crossing onto the holster. - The holster is attached by a un decorated leather strap that is one inch wide.

A small silver colored buckle end is attached to the main belt holding the holster.

Hey there! Submitting my Aphra today and I wanted to start a thread on what I see in this costume...
I know it may look a bit like the other Burgundy Vest varient we have started. this is a different costume from the holster to the cap to the vest.

I think the OP put it as optional as well right? If not I completely think it should be. and yeah black hair foooorrr sure!

Aphra's hair is black not really brown. And her hair length has varied in comics.
In reference to the jacket, shouldn't this be an optional requirement to the costume? Not attached to the main CRL? She doesn't always wear the red jacket. She also is seen with the black and red jacket, but generally she is wearing her polo short sleeve shirt.
Hello. I agree however Jacket is already listed as optional. All optionals are listed on the CRL below the required items.
Hair length can vary but we are looking at this varients costume only. Which appears to e shoulder lengh in the front and shoulder blade length in the back.

What is an LMO?
The Legion Membership Team are responsible for reviewing and processing applications for membership, and maintaining and updating member information in the Legion database. The Legion Membership Officer drives costume policies, including acceptable costume types for membership and setting standards for costume submissions, and are the final arbiter of member costume issues and approvals. The Legion Membership Officer supervises and advises Detachments, Garrison Membership Liaisons, and Garrison Web Liaisons on any questions or issues they may have with members costumes. About Me
My name is Dawn Bright and I am the LMO for the 501st Legion, ALMO with the Rebel Legion, I have previously served as XO of the Flagship Eclipse (501st) and the Senatorial Detachment (RL), GML of Southern California Garrison and a Legion Costume Judge (LCJ) for the Rebel Legion. I love making costumes (with an emphasis on EU and new to the legion), I have almost 60 (RL/501) Legion approved costumes.
In my normal day to day life I am an Administrator of a care home for developmentally delayed adults in independent and inclusive living situations in sunny Southern California. I work with family's and social workers to establish communication between what the families and residents want for themselves to feel productive and able and I institute success for people in need.
I'm a people person and as an LMO I put members first and foremost. People like you with passion for the costumes in this Detachment. We are all volunteers who have spent hundreds of dollars or/and hundreds of hours making costumes. I promise you that you will be treated with respect and deserve honest and efficient results.

About the Team
Michael Capell CT/SL/ID-3037 Timberline Garrison
Michael has been an LMO and on the LMO Team for about a decade. He has done many things in the Legion since his wife told him she was joining and that he needed to as well. He has been the SLD Webmaster for ten years, as well as (over the years) been a GXO, GML, GWL, and GEC. He specializes in Clones, EU / Legends, Sith Lord costumes, and helping people where he can. He’s looking forward to another term helping expand our Costume Reference Library.
Blair Douglas ID-12266 Midwest Garrison
Blair is new to the LMO team but has served as a liaison for unity for the clubs for many years. She has LMO experience with the Rebel Legion and has led an effort in the RL around costume approval reform with a concentration on maintaining quality, improving consistency, and making approvals attainable. Her experience will help us address some of the current pain points within the 501st system. An additional bonus is that Blair is a lead software engineer by day helping to provide Fortune 500 companies technical solutions for their business needs. Her professional experience will also help us assess the current state of the systems supporting costume approvals and help to figure out how to improve them to facilitate a more positive costume approval experience. Fun fact Blair plays bass in the band Soft Speaker, extra fun fact she paid her way through college playing bass in a U2 tribute band and her nickname was Madame Clayton.
Kris Kobus ID-33633 United Kingdom Garrison
Kris is new to LMO but has held positions such as XO and DCA for the IOC and Events administrator for his Garrison where he is also a Officer costume adviser. Kris is a workaholic and does not believe in sleep so is usually always available no matter the time zone.
Brian Anderson TK-7602 New England Garrison
Brian has been the LMO team lead previously. He was one of the driving forces of Detachment empowerment and pushed for CRL changes. Brian has been on local staff and Detachment level staff for many years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. Brian is known as the “make it look like the picture!” guy when it comes to standards and truly embraces current Legion culture.
Eric Brager TK-9674 New England Garrison
Eric was the lead LMO for the 501st Legion two terms from 2015 to 2017. He has twice been elected FISD Detachment Leader and has held a number of garrison level command positions in the 501st Legion
We are so very excited to work with you guys! One thing I love so much about Detachments is the love for new CRLs and the passion. Both of which are very near and dear to my heart. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the Detachment or LMO team.
