  1. Good morning, I know this has been a hot topic in the past, but this is something that needs to be addressed. The CRL shows boots with leather spats, but has been updated to state a rigid hard armor, made of the same/similar material as the breastplate is required. However, I have seen multiple people get approved with leather boot covers, which is clearly against the CRL standards. Also, a few days ago I saw a Sister get approved with what I am fairly confident is EVA foam breastplate armor. I saw a commissioned build on a Facebook page where the armor was made from EVA foam. It has a sharp line running across the breasts where I'm assuming a cut in the back was made to form the armor into shape. My point is, we need to update the CRL immediately. I'm working on a vacuum formed shin armor so that I can offer a full armor kit that matches the CRL text, and so that we can update the photos with armor that matches the current standards.
  2. True. Being that this is a cartoon, we can't accurately source materials. Especially for fabric. That is where most of the leniency should come into play. But there should be a definitely answer as to whether a piece is hard or soft. Trust me, I prefer a soft material because that's easier for me to replicate, as compared to making a hard piece of armor with no seams to slip a leg through. But if it is hard armor in the show, that's what it should be.
  3. I've never seen a crease in the leg armor. Is there a reference image you can share? I just find this so odd that she wouldn't have armor on her leg, when the Grand inquisitor does. As far as how strict this is, and the need to tell people to relax, we need to remember that the 501st does have standards. We aren't a casual level cosplay community. This is why we get the recognize ion that we do. As soon as we start relaxing and cutting corners, it is only downhill from there.
  4. So for the shin, is it a solid armor or is it leather? The link above only shows concept art, and I don't see any reference to the type of material. I prefer armor, and if so, would a seam line be allowed? If not, it will be fairly difficult to slip on the armor.
  5. But one thing to keep in mind is that a portion of that exposed red will be hidden under the breastplate armor.
  6. This is will have to agree with. But that is definitely an easy fix.
  7. Straight legs and some semi form fitting sleeves for the jacket is really want I think would be a realistic achievement. Because we are dealing with cartoon characters, we're never going to achieve 100% accuracy with fabric weave, color and fitting. But we can get pretty close! And yeah, with that comment of approval, I was shocked. Just sitting there thinking "how?" with my arms raised.
  8. Here is the link. https://www.facebook.com/DuneSeaGarrison/photos/a.236739286385501.57769.235415663184530/1059916264067795/?type=3&theater I just find it odd that someone would have commented saying that it was approved already
  9. Anybody see the photo of the Seventh Sister yesterday? Someone said it was approved but it is missing so much. Red the sole of the boots, red on the palms, can't see the neck seal that should be ribbed or pleated, lightsaber is same shape but missing the etched detailing on the ring, and the second belt strap that should have the saber clip.
  10. First lot here on this forum! I've been working on the Seventh Sister helmet and mask for a short while now. Currently in the bondo stage, smoothing things out until I get the basic shape. Then I'll be sculpting in the details. Got the first coat of primer on it now to catch all of the spots that still need to be filled to reduce the air bubbles.
