  1. I just finished the write up for this CRL the other day, it has been submitted and is awaiting review and approval. I will just share the write up for the shirt item, so you can reflect on what I wrote vs what you are making. Keep in mind, this has still not been approved yet, so some things might be changed. Three sections: center, torso, and arms. Made of a black or very deep dark blue elastic fabric, that is form fitting. Center section of the shirt is a lighter shade than the rest of the shirt. Entire shirt is covered in horizontal lines or ribbing, Spacing between the lines or ribbing, is larger in the center section, than the rest of the shirt. Center section is somewhat rectangular, starting at the top of the breast bone, down to the belt line, and its sides left and right cross over the center of the breast. Border around the center rectangle separates it from the rest of the shirt. Neck of the shirt goes up under the head scarf. Arms cover down to the wrist on the palm side, the back of the hand is partially covered.
  2. If you have a question.................then you are choosing to wait for an answer..............That is 1 option............it could be awhile. I already answered your question the best I can, it's going to be a little while till you get someone else to reply here due to the holidays. So you can wait on a reply here, or you can do what I already said above, your choice.
  3. The DL has a post around here in the forums on how to do it. Its in your profile, on the 501st legion forums.
  4. The main point, is they have to look correct. What you use and how you do it is up to you. I have also thought that something similar to TK style armor would work fine. Obviously not TK armor because it is not the correct shape, but something similar in her look and shape would be fine. Just make sure the color matches that of the chest armor.
  5. There are 2 different ways to make the forums appear to our members, or "THEME". 1. Is "Default" White background, that I personally find boring and hard to read the forums with. or 2. "Oblivion Orange" Which is more of a dark background with blacks and grays. I just thought I would point this out to our members, as some have complained they can't read what I post when its yellow or orange colored letters. They are probably on the default setting and not the Oblivion Orange theme. You can find where to change your "THEME" if you scroll all the way to the bottom of the forums, in the middle, left of the FB symbols. Hope this helps people who were finding the forums hard to read.
  6. Good to go. Remember to request to be put back on the Legion TFE Det. Roster (for voting ability should there be a TFE Det. Election), and send me a pm when you have, so I can add you back there too.
  7. Step one is always the most boring, which is the research phase. The more time you spend in this phase, the more time and money it could save you in the following phases of your costume project. Best bet is to scour Google, ETSY, FB, FB Groups, and to try and get into contact with other people who have already made this costume. If you are going to wait for other people to hand you the answers to all your questions, it will just take that much longer to get started. Be proactive, and hunt down the answers you need. Again, this is not the best time of year to be looking for replies from people, but in a week or so, most people should be back home and on the forums again.
  8. As 501st Elections are only two months away (if anyone is going to run against the currently DL), we want everyone who is eligible, to be able to vote. If your TFE Det. member status on your 501st Legion Profile is "Pending" and you believe you have done everything correct to be approved. Send me a PM, and I will relook your status. This will be possible right up until the election process starts, after that no new permissions will be granted until after the election process has ended. Det XO-
  9. As we look forward to what 2018 will bring in the TFE Det., it's always nice to reflect back on all that has happened in 2017. It has been a good and very active year here in the TFE Det. in 2017. Newly Elected Detachment Leader and her staff. We have seen many new programs started and/or old programs improved this year: Trooper of the Month, Blood Members, Mediation Tracker, Fundraiser Program, Academies or Temples. We have seen the formation of the first 4 TFE Det. Academies or Temples. We have created our 1st ever Det. Racing shirt, and had two sales runs of those shirts. We have cleaned up the Membership Records for the Detachment, and everything is now running smoothly. TFE Detachment Merch had a strong kick in the pants this year, after a long pause with very little Det. Merch coming out, this year we came out with several Coin and Patch runs. We have had a strong push at writing and/or correcting existing CRL's. Many of these newly written or corrected CRL's were just done last week, so we are still waiting on LMO review and approval, before we can post them for you to take a look at. We have had a strong year with many more TFE Det. Members being added to our coveted Comms Tower FB page. Our Membership has skyrocketed with a large influx of new members, eager to be a part of the best Detachment in the Legion. From all of us here in the TFE Detachment Staff, I hope you all have enjoyed your time here with us in 2017, and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2018. We have more planned for the TFE Det. in the new year, and we will try to make the TFE Det. even better for you in 2018! Det Staff-
  10. Around the holidays, I would not hold my breath for a reply, as many people are away from home for the Holidays. Once people return home, you may have more luck with a response. Where there is a will, there's a way! I am not saying this to be mean, but when I was new to the 501st, I asked for help with my starkiller hoth, and got 0% help, and I still made it! Struggle builds character, it also feels good to accomplish something on your own without any help. This requires a lot more research on your part, but it's possible, trust me, if I can do it, anyone can. Learning from that experience, I now find sources for every item in a costume I am interested in, before I do anything else or even start the project. You might try contacting people who have made this costume, and ask them where they got their stuff from. Try ETSY shops, ebay, google, FB groups. Per people being approved with something other than what is in the CRL. The CRL is a helping tool, and it may not be 100% accurate, or things may change with the art. I would always use official reference sources if you have them, and submit those reference pics along with your application pics when applying. Also note, We in the Detachment staff do not approve costumes, your local GMO/GML does. So if you have a question, the best person to ask would be the person judging your costume. If the GMO/GML has questions, they will submit pics and questions to us, and we will give our opinions to assist the GMO/GML, and then they will make their decision.
  11. Hello, and welcome back. I will adjust your forums permissions, now that you are active again. Per Darth Sion, yes you can make this costume, a rather hard build imo, but have at it. As there is no CRL, your local GML will submit your application photos to a section on the Legion forums, for new costumes that we have not seen before, and LMOs with make the decision on the costume. Then with your help, the CRL will be made for Darth Sion, using pictures from your costume and a write up of each individual piece of the costume. So finish the costume, submit application photos to your local unit, and they will take it from there.
  12. Darth Malgus as a 1st costume, to join the 501st, is not an easy feat, as this is not an easy costume to put on or to wear the whole day at a troop. For the normal person, I would suggest an easier costume to start off with and then to try to make something at this difficulty level. Approval is dependent on your local Czech Republic GMO/GML. You have to attain the right look, compared to official reference materials. If your GML/GMO has any questions with your approval pics, they will submit them to us, and we will give our opinions. The costume in the Video would be approvable yes, but most people in the 501st don't have a "team" to help them get dressed and put on makeup and prosthetic. It is unrealistic to have to show up several hours before the troop to start putting on the costume. Pants, find an official LFL reference to support your look, and you are fine. I have seen black, and I have seen gray, so for the time being, either. Materials for the armor is up to you, but it must look correct. It has to have a thickness to it, it has to look like hard armor. Lights and everything else seen must be included. Find an official reference you are happy with, and make your costume look like the reference. This costume is not an easy one to pull off the correct look. This costume is also quite expensive to pull off the correct look. Not trying to discourage your interests, but many have started this costume and not seen it to the end, and then it was just a waste of time and money, and they never got into the 501st. Many have attempted this costume, currently only 2 have an approved Darth Malgus in the 501st!
  13. Best Bet, is to ask your local GMO/GML what he wants. Front, Left Side, Back, Right Side, Head Shot (without mask) at a minimum. Some Costumes have important details on the sides, why some GML/GMO also ask for an arms forward pic with certain costumes.
  14. For a costume to be approvable, it must achieve the correct look, and be approved by your local GMO/GML. If your Local GMO/GML has questions about your costume, they will post your application pics on the Legion forums, for us to give our opinions on. Nothing is 100% approved from any merchant, you have to wear it properly and it must look correct. Wrong look, too long/too short, wrong mask, missing part of the costume, wrong boots, wrong gloves, etc, etc, are all things that could cause your costume to not be approved. There are also 2 different Darth Nihilus costumes, you did not specify which one you wanted to create? I have seen MWA "Darth Nihilus: COTF" approved, ofc I have also seen them not approved, if they were not worn correctly, or were missing a part of the costume, or were using an element that was wrong (Like a weathered mask). If you were making "Darth Nihilus KOTOR II" then MWA costume is the wrong look.
  15. People, this was my WIP post, why not start your own WIP thread? I had my gloves made by a shoe repair shop. There is a shop in Argentina that will make you the gloves for $400 He also makes the suit. https://www.facebook.com/swtoys.argentina/?timeline_context_item_type=intro_card_work&timeline_context_item_source=100000614735191&pnref=lhc
  16. I have upgraded your Detachment permissions. Please fix your 501st Legion Profile to reflect your 501st Legion profile, it is currently showing your 501st German Garrison Profile.
  17. Hello, and welcome to our Detachment. Unfortunately a lot of people only join our Detachment, after their costume was not approved, or after their costume is approved. The whole reason we have Detachments is to try and help people while they are in the process of building their costumes, to increase the likelihood of them building their costume correctly the 1st time around, as redoing parts of a costume can be time consuming and expensive. As per what other parties told you about your costume, all I can say is, I wish you had joined us earlier and got the correct information from the start. I find it a bit irritating when people suggest that the RL approved some parts of their costume, implying why didn't the 501st. I am not part of the RL, so I do not know (or care) what they are doing and what their standards are. I am part of the 501st, and I am here to make sure the TFE 501st costumes meet our minimum standards. Your GML/GMO had some questions about your costume, and I answered his/her questions. I can understand people's disappointment when their costume is not approved, but remember no one here is against you, we are all here so that your costume can look as good as it possibly can. We get tons of people who do Cosplay and submit their costumes to the 501st, and they get very upset when their Cosplay costumes are not accepted by the 501st. I like to remind people that Cosplay and the 501st are not the same. Cosplay is a costume that no one approves but the person who made the costume, and while it looks generally like the SW Character, a lot of the details are missing or are not correct or the quality is just not there. In the 501st we strive for the best looking costumes to represent our organization. So let's get moving in the right direction, so we can get your costume approved. I would strongly suggest more research. Seek out people in the 501st who have made this costume and gotten it approved, and find out where they got their items from or what materials they used. eliste (meg) who commented just above, would be a good place to start! The Items that were in question with your costume, I listed below, and explained why I approved or disapproved them. Your Body Suit: Take a look at the pic of your body suit, now go to the CRL and look at the display model at the top. See how the models suit looks like a shinny rubber, with no folds or creases or bunching in the material, how it is snug and form fitting. Now scroll down through the individual item in the CRL till you get to the body suit. Click the photo of the body suit so it opens in a new page, and now click the bodysuit again so you can see it alone and larger. Now compare the bodysuit in the picture with the picture of your bodysuit. In your bodysuit pic the crotch area has folds in the material, the outsides of the legs have folds in the material, the inner leg area has the design muster, but it is really hard to see and is not so prominent. Look at the CRL item bodysuit, the crotch area is flat, the legs are without folds in the material, and the details on the inner thigh are much better looking and easier to see the details. You really need a material that stretches in 4 directions, that when the material is pulled, it does not create folds in the other direction. The details in your suit were hard to see, there were folds and extra material in areas that there should not have been. If the material is correct (?), then the problem is in the way it is sewn together. Wig: Even though I am not a fan of your Wig in Red, I approved your wig, because it is an acceptable color. I prefer the strawberry blonde or red/gold wig, but I approved your wig, as it has less to do with my personal taste and more to do with the correct look. So whereas you said the RL did not approve your wig, I did. Silver connector and harness straps: This was a difficult point to judge. I could tell by your pictures that you are of the smaller body sizes, so it was hard to tell what exactly the size was of your straps and silver connector were. As the details in your silver connector were a bit off, it made me think the size was also off. Where the silver connector has 3 oval cut outs in the center facing 9 O'clock evenly spaced apart, your Silver Connector looked like there were just 3 slits cut into it, and it was facing 7 O'clock. The straps are correctly made for the size of the Silver connector (because they match the correct size of the mounting point on the Silver Connector) the question is, is the Silver connector too large, thus makinging the straps also too large? The details of the Oval cutout vs the slits vs facing the different directions, was why i did not approve this item. I would suggest finding a different source for the Silver connector, and then just transplanting the straps onto the new silver connector, if they are in fact the correct dimensions. Holster: is mounted backwards. Its an optional item of the costume, so either remove it altogether or flip it over to face the correct position. Belt & Belt Buckle: The Belt buckle should be hiding the rivets, the rivets should not be visible. Either that or use a different belt without the rivets. Extra strap: should be form fitting and laying flat against the bodysuit/leg/hip. I hope this helps you better understand what things need to be corrected, so we can get the changes made, and get you into the 501st. Cheers, Det XO-
  18. Costume doesn't have to be Canon to be in the 501st.
  19. The CRL is Wrong! One the mask has features like bone structure, the other is straight flat with no structure. It is on the list of CRLs to be fixed, but they have not gotten to it yet.
  20. Welcome to the best Detachment in the Legion. There are many people here with Darth Revan costumes (not me), to include the Detachment Leader, so there is a ton of information to be had here for that costume. Have a look around, make your self at home. We encourage people to start a WIP (Work In Progress) thread with their build progress and pics, that then other people can reply to if you are looking for help. Cheers, Det XO-
  21. The more popular (more often made) the easier it will be to find sources. Darth Revan Darth Nihilus Are some of our most popular costumes in this detachment. Darth Nihilus is probably the most cost effective costume you can make as part of this detachment. We have quite a few Imperial Knights, you would have to look around and find sources for that costume, or maybe someone will reply to you here with some helpful information.
  22. Lightsaber is fine. No need for covertec wheel, as he never wears his light saber on a belt. The only purpose for this is if you are going to mount a Lightsaber holder to a belt, so it can hang off a belt. Boots are fine.
  23. Welcome back. If you have a TKID, please include it in your profile info, if not, then not.
