  1. That would work underneath the shirt with the horizontal line on it, but I personally prefer a short sleeved shirt underneath, as my bracers are snug already, and having the extra fabric there makes it more tight. My base layer shirt is similar to this https://www.underarmour.com/en-us/mens-ua-raid-short-sleeve-t-shirt/pid1257466-001
  2. I use black under armour heat gear bottoms a heat gear top. Color for the top doesn't matter as it's always covered. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  3. That sucks. When my order was placed, the wait was 14-16 weeks. I contacted them when I placed the order asking if it would be possible for the saber to be finished in time for Denver Comic Con, which was 18 weeks away. They said it shouldn't be a problem, but put it in the "priority queue" just in case. It showed up at my house 17 weeks to the day. Have you tried reaching out to them through the messaging system on their store's web front? That was the easiest that I found to get a hold of them, as long as they aren't at a con or some other emergency (they did have a death in the family at the end of May).
  4. My Rev-N Elite took 17 weeks, but I had ordered back in mid-February and they had a shorter forecasted wait then. Amazing saber though, you won't be disappointed.
  5. Nice! Though I have to admit, I was even more giddy when my saber shipped from Vader's Vault. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  6. Looks great IMO, but I'm not a Talon expert by any means. When you do submit your photos, make sure that it's in a well lit room, since in the 2016 picture above, it is a little tough to see the scaring that should be on the armor. I'm sure the Talon experts will be by soon to give you some feedback. In the mean time, check out the CRL for Talon at http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:SL_talon. While there are no pictures for this CRL yet, the descriptions are filled out pretty good to give you an idea of what will be looked for.
  7. Another question. Read on some forums that they recommend using Final Seal to help lock in the paint for the day. Some say mix it in with the liquid paint before airbrushing (a 10% mix) while others add it later. Thoughts? Also finished up the tattoos for her bodysuit last night. Just need to darken them up a little more. http://i.imgur.com/DOhhgMb.jpg

  9. Hi, I am working on making my daughter a conservative version for Darth Talon for the Galactic Academy, so it doesn't need to be 501st perfect. She is going to be wearing a red bodysuit that we will be putting the body tattoos on. I am looking at using Ben Nye for the face paint (don't want her to have a bad time trooping due to alcohol fumes), but my question is for the latex lekku. Will the Ben Nye stay on the lekku well enough to avoid frequent touch ups (for example, would it last a day at Comic Con) or should I go alcohol based for the lekku? Thanks for your insight! -Steve

  11. Thanks for your guys' support! I am proud to say that my Darth Revan was approved! Looking forward to doing some trooping with it this spring/summer. Now to start working on a Darth Talon for my daughter who wants to join the Galactic Academy (and join me in costume at the Denver Comic Con).
  12. Thanks for the feedback guys. I did order the leather, the whole hide was only $35, so not a huge investment if it doesn't work out perfectly and I need to go in another direction.
  13. Ugh... setback! Was doing a wear test in prep for submitting my application photos and the rubber strap on the side of the armor broke. http://i.imgur.com/Bw1uYb4.jpg So I am going to have to replace the silver/metallic looking rubber for the belt to the O-Ring. I found this hide of metalic pewter leather for sale. The leather should be many times stronger. http://i.imgur.com/mYlmsSQ.jpg What are your thoughts on using that leather?
  14. Here's my WIP pic. The rings on the left are the curtain rings I picked up at Hobby Lobby. The rings on the right the keyrings that came installed by default. I haven't submitted my costume for approval yet as I am waiting on my boots to arrive, hopefully they will be here late this week or early next week.
  15. I picked up rings designed to hold curtains. I removed the clasp that grabs the curtain and then hot glued them to the armor. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  16. So last month, my Revan kit from Rob arrived. After pouring through the threads here, I've been buying the items needed to improve the costume prior to submitting for approval. I still need to get laceless boots and I have three lightsaber on order. Today, I started by replacing the keyrings that Rob installed on the bottom of the armor. I'll post more pics as I make more changes. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  17. Sorry for digging up an old thread, but what's your thoughts on Vader Vault's Rev-n Elite in terms of being approved? Thinking about going this route if it is good, but don't want to drop the cash if it won't be approved. Thanks for your insight! https://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/n-pktq5q/p2xwybvk/products/109/images/450/081__79842.1425525028.1280.1280.JPG?c=2
  18. I just got my deluxe kit from MWA getting ready to make some minor modifcations (first 501 costume BTW). I like the new O-Rings that you added, better than the "keyrings" that come stock. Where did you get the new O-Rings? Also, what type of glue did you use to glue the nylon straps on?
  19. Hi everyone, I'm Steve. This is my first costume, which I'm doing Darth Revan. I've ordered the deluxe armor from MWA. Looking forward to making the final alterations once I receive it for my application to the 501st through the Mountain Garrison. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  20. Hey guys, I'm a newbie looking to join my local 501st garrison and really want to go with Revan. Curious how much you guys spent on the MWA set? Thanks! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
  21. So bigwater99's armor is good for approval? If not, what tours of alterations did you have to make? What are your general thoughts on it now that you've had it for a while? Thinking of working with him on a Revan build.
