  1. How is everyone (or maybe just @Flashheart) doing the make up? Free hand? Stencils? Airbrush? Just leaving it on permanently and living life that way? I've got the horns done and love them. Just need to get better at the make up. Contacts are on order (seriously, if I order many more Lasik might end up being cheaper than prescription costume contacts). Saber is being custom built. Was going to do the armor and soft parts myself, but with the time crunch, I need up farm that out to a local seamstress. Hoping to have him done and approved by the end of this year.
  2. The way I see it is hard armor on the shoulders, biceps and forearms, a leather type shirt armor and greaves on the boots. FYI, I bought a set of this armor a few months ago, and it is well done. I'm just now getting around to trimming and assembling it. Boots are more or less the same as Vader, but I plan to get strip of ABS, heat bend it at the ankles, then use straps around the back to attach. I keep balking at working on this because scultping the horns intimidates me. We do have a VERY good local make up effects place (store manager and a lot of clients have been on Face Off), so I can lean on them for advice. Planning on doing a life cast of my face and then stencils for the tattoos to be airbrushed on. That way I'm not hand doing them every time.
  3. I'm probably going to tackle this over the next couple of months or so. Looks like there's quite a bit of overlap with Maul, so that's good for you and a learning process for me. The horns are gonna be longer, so I don't know if there are already guys making sculpts of the horns or if that's something I'm gonna have to buckle down and learn myself. I'll hit up every tutorial I can find on makeup for Maul, and just adapt that for Savage. I've already got the contacts picked out (and they're prescription, too, so I want be as blind as a Tusken Raider). The fingernails shouldn't be too much of a problem, and I can just paint the hands to match the face. The tabard and pants look very similar to Maul, so that won't be too big of a deal. Might just be a little longer. Belt isn't too difficult along with the standard lightsaber clip, also likely the same as Maul. The boots look more or less the same as Vader's, just with added armor and toe caps. The upper body looks like a compression style shirt would work underneath the armor. Which is the BIG question. To my knowledge, no one is making anything for the armor. Looks like it's about three panels for each shoulder, two around loops around each bicep and a forearm piece. That goes along with the shin armor. All could easily be attached using a similar strapping system to TK armor. Question is HOW to make this? I was pondering doing a posterboard type template on it. If that works out, maybe Pepakura style bonding and fiberglassing? I'd LOVE to have it done out of ABS plastic or PVC, but that's outside of my skill range. The chest also looks like it might be a leather-type piece. That's another thing that might be out of what I'm capable of doing right now.
  4. Hi everyone! New member in Central Florida. Looking at starting on a Savage Opress costume. I like the Nightbrothers, and I'm a bit on the tall/hefty side for Maul, but Savage is right up my alley. Plus, I just finished watching Clone Wars, so how could I not?
