Prefix: DS
Detachment: The Flagship Eclipse Detachment
Context: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Mother Talzin was clan mother to the Nightsisters of Dathomir as well as mother to Maul, Savage, and Feral. She was a formidable dark side user and capable of resurrection through her twisting of life-forces. Her sacrifice for her eldest son led to the downfall of Dathomir and her coven of Nightsisters.



This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.


  • This document is not intended to be a detailed how-to on costume construction; rather a visual guide to be used for 501st costume approval. Details on construction may be found on the respective costume detachment web forum.
  • GMLs uncertain about an aspect of submitted costume shall post questions in the appropriate DL/GML peer review section of the Legion forum.
  • Measurements given in this document are intended to be approximate and generalized; not criteria for approval.
  • Requirements for all 501st costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size.
  • Text descriptions are only one part of the guideline. GMLs and costumers must consider both text and pictures (CRL and Reference) when reviewing the costume.


Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below.


Talzin Headpiece.png Headpiece
  • The headpiece fabric is reddish-orange.
  • There are two prongs at the crown of the head with a curved space between them.
    • The section of fabric below the prongs has ribbed details with a strip of fabric running down the middle that ends between the prongs.
    • The strip extends lower than the hairline to attach the forehead decoration.
  • Two “tendrils” of fabric hang down the front of the headpiece.
    • The tendrils have knots and wrapped section near the end.
  • The back of the headpiece is full and gathered at the bottom.
    • The bottom is curved with the left and right sides lower than the middle section.
  • The headpiece includes part of the facial details to replicate the high forehead of Mother Talzin.
    • The facial section extends above the normal hairline to where the head would end.
    • The facial section is white with two black shapes.
  • There is a white geometric plate decoration with a point at the bottom that hangs from the fabric of the headpiece by a single loop.
    • The forehead decorations ring has fabric wrapped around the loop.
    • The ring is attached to the headpiece with the strip of fabric that rests between the crown prongs and down the front middle of the headpiece.


OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • The right tendril is slightly longer than the left.
  • There is an iridescent or shiny finish.




Talzin Makeup.png Face Paint
  • The face is painted white to match the headpiece facial section.
  • There are black tattoo details around the eyes, sides of the face, tip of the nose, and around the mouth.
  • There are gray tattoo details between the eyes, sides of the face, above the mouth and around the nose and on the lips.




Mother Talzin body paint.png Body Paint
  • Exposed hands and forearms are painted white with long white nails.




Talzin Wings.png Wings and Harness
  • Four wings are present, with two in the front/shoulders and two in the back.
    • The fabric is a red color.
    • There are dark red details on the wings.
  • A harness sits over the front wings and crosses the chest.
    • The straps of the harness overlap, with the left strap over the right.
    • There are dark red details on the harness straps.


OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • There is an iridescent or shiny finish on the fabric.




Talzin Bodysuit Neckseal.png Bodysuit and Neck Seal
  • The bodysuit is a stretchy brown material with a V-neck shape.
    • There are vertical lines up the center of the bodysuit that spread from the groin area to the shoulder straps.
  • The neck seal is made of the same red material as the other soft parts.
    • The neck seal has vertical strips around the entire circumference.


OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • There is an iridescent or shiny finish on the fabric.




Talzin Shirt.png Shirt
  • The shirt is the same red material as the other soft parts.
    • There are dark red details on the shirt and sleeves.
  • The shirt has a V-neck shape to expose the neck seal and sits under the harness.
  • The sleeves of the shirt have a hanging section on the underside of the arms similar to a yukata sleeve.
  • There is a dark brown strip of fabric that runs along the top of the sleeves and around the back of the neck.
    • There are seven rectangles located on each arm that begins at the shoulder and ends at the arm joint.

  • There is an iridescent or shiny finish on the fabric.




Talzin Obi.png Obi and Sashes
  • The obi and straps are the same red material as the other soft parts.
  • The obi is worn at the waist.
  • The obi has seven red strips and one brown strip in the center of the red strips.
    • The top three red strips curve upwards in the back of the obi.
  • Two long straps that reach to the ankles are located on both sides of the obi in the front.
    • There are dark red tattoo details on the straps matching the references.
    • The straps are thin at the obi and are wider at the bottoms.
  • Two short straps that reach to the top of the thighs are located on both sides of the obi in the back.

  • There is an iridescent or shiny finish on the fabric.




Talzin Full Skirt.png Skirt
  • The skirt is the same red material as the other soft parts.
    • There are maroon details on the straps.
    • The details are darker than the rest of the soft part details.
  • The skirt has two thin panels in the front and one thick panel in the back.

  • There is an iridescent or shiny finish on the fabric.




Mother Talzin leggings.png Leggings
  • The leggings are a red stretchy material.
    • There are dark red details on the leggings.


OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):
  • There is an iridescent or shiny finish on the fabric.




Mother Talzin boot.png Boots
  • The boots are the same red material as the other soft parts.
    • There are dark red details on the boots.
  • There are no visible soles to the boots.
  • The sides of the boots have dark brown fabric with a matte finish.
    • There are two buckles on the outside of each boot in the same dark brown fabric.

  • There is an iridescent or shiny finish on the pieces.




Optional Accessories

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below. If adding in an accessory after initial approval, the item still needs to be submitted to local GML for approval before use.


Talzin White Eye.png Whiteout Eyes
  • Special effects contacts in white with a grey or black border are worn to give the illusion of Talzin's eyes.
  • While considered an essential part of this character, contact lenses are not required for 501st acceptance. All persons wishing to utilize contact lenses are encouraged to first see their optometrist for a fitting.
