This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.

  • This document is not intended to be a detailed how-to on costume construction; rather a visual guide to be used for 501st costume approval. Details on construction may be found on the respective costume detachment web forum.
  • GMLs uncertain about an aspect of submitted costume shall post questions in the appropriate DL/GML peer review section of the Legion forum.
  • Measurements given in this document are intended to be approximate and generalized; not criteria for approval.
  • Requirements for all 501st costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size.
  • Text descriptions are only one part of the guideline. GMLs and costumers must consider both text and pictures (CRL and Reference) when reviewing the costume.

Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below.

Concept Ventress head.jpg Bald Head
  • The costumer’s hair is shaved or covered with a tight-fitting bald cap.
  • If a bald cap is used, the cap is tinted to match the color of the costumer's face, and the edges are blended to make them as inconspicuous as possible.

Concept Ventress tattoos.jpg Complexion and Battle Tattoos
  • Special effects makeup is used to give the costumer’s head, neck, and hands a white or very pale gray skin tone.
  • The lips should be tinted dark gray or black.
  • Asajj's triangular tattoo patterns should be reproduced in black special effects makeup.
  • There are four triangle designs that radiate above each ear.
  • Two additional triangles point forward on each cheekbone, just in front of the ears.

Concept Ventress collar.jpg Collar
  • The collar is made of a black leather or leatherette material.
  • The neck of the collar is high and form fitting.
  • A pattern of horizontal lines encircle the shoulders and neck.
  • The outer edge of the collar reaches to the outer curve of the shoulders, or it may drape over the tops of the arms.
  • The edges of the collar are connected to the shirt, and do not hang loosely.

Concept Ventress shirt.jpg Shirt
  • The form-fitting shirt is made of a matte stretch material.
  • The fabric used for the center front of the shirt, the shoulders, the center back, and the long sleeves is a pale gray color.
  • The side panels beneath the arms are darker gray or black in color.
  • As an optional detail, a horizontal line patterns may be applied into the torso and sleeves of the shirt.
  • Piping may be used to accent the princess seams that run down the front and back of the shirt.

Concept Ventress wraps.jpg Forearm Wraps
  • The forearm wraps are made of the same material as the collar.
  • The wraps reach from the wrists to just below the elbows.
  • A triangular or square extension may be used to cover the back of the hands, or wraps may be used that go between the fingers and thumb, thus covering both the back of the hand and the palm.

Concept Ventress belts.jpg Belts
  • A pair of black leather or leatherette belts are draped to create an "X" pattern in the front and back.
  • The belts are wide at the top of their arc, and taper to a thinner width at their base.
  • The front buckle is a large O shape. The buckle is metallic, and may be silver, gray, or black in color.
  • Attachment points for lightsabers are made of "O" or "D" rings.
  • These rings are located on the front side of each belt, just over the hip bones.
  • The rings may be attached directly to the leather of the belts, or they may hang from short leather extensions.
  • Alternative Belt Option: When worn with an obi, a single black leather belt with a silver "O" shaped buckle can be used.

Concept Ventress skirt.jpg Skirt
  • The wide, flowing skirt is approximately ankle length.
  • The fabric may be flat or pleated.
  • The skirt is made with black or very dark gray fabric, and it is designed in two sections.
  • The back section of the skirt covers the back and sides of the costumer's legs.
  • The front section is narrow, but still very full.
  • The front of the skirt may open over the front of each thigh, revealing the leggings beneath.
  • A shorter over-skirt may also be worn.
  • This outer skirt is approximately knee length and is made of the same fabric as the rest of the skirt.

Concept Ventress leggings.jpg Leggings
  • The form-fitting leggings are dark gray or black.

DookuBoots.jpg Boots
  • The knee high boots are black or dark gray. They can be basic riding boots, or they may have a row of black straps and silver buckles up the sides.

  • This style of contact lens may be worn, if desired.
