This Visual Guide has been reviewed by the detachment staff and the LMO team and is certified for use as a minimum approval guideline for GMLs. GMLs are free to approve this costume type.

  • This document is not intended to be a detailed how-to on costume construction; rather a visual guide to be used for 501st costume approval. Details on construction may be found on the respective costume detachment web forum.
  • GMLs uncertain about an aspect of submitted costume shall post questions in the appropriate DL/GML peer review section of the Legion forum.
  • Measurements given in this document are intended to be approximate and generalized; not criteria for approval.
  • Requirements for all 501st costumes are proportional to the wearer in scale, fit and size.
  • Text descriptions are only one part of the guideline. GMLs and costumers must consider both text and pictures (CRL and Reference) when reviewing the costume.

Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below.

SL ventress tcw-bald.jpeg Bald Head
  • The costumer's hair is shaved or covered with a tight-fitting bald cap. If a bald cap is used, the cap is tinted to match the color of the costumer's face, and the edges are blended to make them as inconspicuous as possible.

SL ventress tcw apprentice-face.jpg Complexion and Battle Tattoos
  • All exposed skin is very pale, with a light gray overtones.
  • The eyes are accented by heavy black eye liner and mascara.
  • Dark mulberry or maroon lipstick is worn with a roughly edged darker lining.
  • Finger nails are to be treated with a dark lavender or grey polish.
  • Tattoos cover the head in a color that is similar to the midnight blue of the CW Ventress' shirt and skirt.
  • The tattoos have softened edges, and vary in darkness.
  • Tattoo patterns underline each eye, with two downward points at the outer edges. The lines extend from the inner corner of each eye and onto the sides of the nose, as well as extending from the outer corner of each eye toward the ear.
    • A thinner tattoo line traces each upper eye lid.
    • A pair of curved triangles are tattooed on the forehead. These triangles are lighter than the other tattoos, and point downwards.
    • A tattoo line runs from each corner of the mouth down to the chin. These lines are then connected under the chin, creating a "U" shape that ends at each corner of the mouth.
    • A line consisting of straight segments and curves runs along each side of the head. The lines begin with a small hook above each temple, pass just above the ear, and then curve into a larger hook at the back of the head.
    • Two small triangles and a diamond pattern are located near each line in the back.
    • A vertical line with two diamond patterns is located at the back center of the head. This line begins at the top of the head, and ends just above the height of the ears.

CloneWarsAsajjBetrayNeck.png Collar
  • The collar is made of a black leather or leatherette material.
  • The neck of the collar is high and form fitting.
  • There are four rings to the throat of the collar, while the single flared ring over the collar bone is slightly pointed in front. The collar only goes as far as the middle of the slope of the shoulder.
  • The edges of the collar are connected to the shirt, and do not hang loosely.
  • The surface is weathered to match the appearance of other TCW characters.

AsajjBetrayBodysuit.png Bodysuit
  • The form-fitting bodysuit is made of matte stretch fabric
  • The fabric used for the center front of the bodysuit, the shoulders, the center back, and the long sleeves is a pale gray color.
  • The center body panels extend and wrap under the seat of the torso to meet directly under the body.
  • There are horizontal lines only on the center panels.
  • There is a wide surface shading effect to the horizontal lines. The lines are approximately 2" apart
  • There is a decorative grey line along the edges of the black panels where they meet the grey and also around the arms where the panels meet the sleeves.
  • The grey on the sleeves have a mottled appearance.
  • The side panels beneath the arms and covering the legs are black in color.
  • There is a short extension of the same black material that covers the upper part of the hand to about the top of the thumb — it is shaped to fit the hand, it appears to be part of the sleeve.
  • The bodysuit may be cropped in to a shirt with separate leggings or made as a single piece (Reference Image: Leggings).

AsajjBetrayBracers.png Forearm Bracers
  • The bracers are made from a leather like material to match the greaves and belts.
  • The bracers are semi-rigid and extend from just above the wrist to the widest part of the forearm.
  • There are two sets of narrow straps with square flat silver buckles.
  • The upper strap is approximately 3/4" wide and set the same distance from the top edge.
  • The lower strap is approximately 3/4" wide and placed slightly further from the lower edge. The buckles lie along the back of the arm
  • The surface is highlighted and weathered to match the appearance of other TCW characters.

AsajjBetrayGreave.png Greaves
  • The greaves are made from the same material as the bracers and are of similar construction.
  • The main part of the greaves is a single piece of matte leather type material that extends from the ankle to the widest part of the calves and a little higher.
  • There is a tapered section that only covers the shins that extends slightly higher than the main part of the greaves.
  • There are two straps approximate 1" wide at the top and bottom of the greaves. These are places approximately 1" from the top of the greaves and slightly higher at the bottom of the greaves.
  • The straps have square flat silver buckles at the back and to the sides of the greaves. These cover any necessary functioning fasteners.
  • The surface is highlighted and weathered to match the appearance of other TCW characters.

AsajjBetrayBelt.png Belts
  • There is a wide corset piece that sits around the lower ribs and to the upper hips. The top edge is flat across the back and dips sharply to the top of the buckle at waist front. The bottom edge is horizontal.
  • The corset is made from a leather like material to match the bracers and greaves.
  • There is a large O shaped buckle at the front of the corset, it is a flat silver in color and approximately 4 inches across.
  • There are wide and flaring hanging belts made from the same material as the corset.
  • The belts start at the front either side of the buckle, hang over the tops of the thighs, and return to the back of the corset with a gap between the same width as at the front.
  • The belts are narrow at the front and back and widen over the thighs.
  • There are four decorative domes on the belts: these are placed on the ends of the belts a few finger widths below the corset.
  • Attachment for the lightsabers is in the form of a simplified "covertec" clip — only the flat face and back of the clip is used. These are approximately 1 inch tall and 1 1/2 inch wide.
  • The clips are placed directly at the sides and just below the middle of the hanging belts.
  • The clips are fastened directly to the surface of the hip belts. They are matte black in color.
  • The surface of the corset and belts is highlighted and weathered to match the appearance of other TCW characters.

AsajjBetrayLeggings.png Leggings
  • Made from the same fabric as the side panels of the bodysuit and closely fitted.
  • If a bodysuit is used these are left plain.
  • If a shirt is used then there must be matching grey, striped panels at the center front and center back of the body.

AsajjBetrayBoot.png Boots
  • The boots are at least mid-calf high, rounded toes, and have a thick sole with an elevated thick heel.
  • The upper portion is a matte leather or leather like material and matches the color of the greaves and bracers.
  • The soles are black in color.
